Title: Lady Eleanor's Free Company, IGT thread, pic heavy
Post by: Aurelius 12 on February 16, 2011, 07:17:01 PM
Greetings all,

I thought I'd put together a little something about my characters in the upcoming IGT. I don't really want to post character profiles as such but I thought I'd give you a little teaser of what I've been up to, for my scenario as well as my characters.

I've also started putting up character backstories (of course bear in mind that everything you have been told is a lie), and you can find the relevant thread here (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1292.0).

Feel free to use this thread for comments about the models and that background thread.

The group I'm bringing is three characters strong; Lady Eleanor Veit (Mistress of the Free Company, Commander of the Fallen Sun, rightful ruler of Harakis), Sergeant-at-arms Garrick Onasis, and The Instrument of Her Will.

Few images of the trio have been released, but please make of them what you will (I love speculation me!)

So without further ado,
Lady Eleanor;

As always, comments, criticisms, speculation are all more than welcome.

Oh and as an added treat, here are some teaser pics of the latest machines rolling off the construction line at Aurelia Foundries...

Looks interesting - especially Garrick. I'd love to see pics of the whole figures!

I Must say I like the use of Garrick head, thats the Enforcer Barbs head upside down if I'm not mistaken

It's looking like I may need some heavier guns in my warband if I'm likely to come us against a psychic plasma wielding lady and her robo sergeant at arms

I hate teaser shots.

I look forward to seeing proper photos (presumably after the IGT) though.

That is all.

She's not psychic per se, though its incredible what technology can do to a mind. That said, it's something I envisage as a campaign effect (what with days of torture and brainwashing) rather than an in game effect.

As for firepower, Garrick is probably the one to watch out for. The Lady has some nasty stuff up close, but then she is in command of two battalions of infantry, with a history of getting stuck in! I'm also intrigued as to how The Instrument will play out.

More pics and background to follow.

So Garrik is an upturned enforcer helm and what looks to be a Kal Jerico body. Funnily enough I've been planning to do a model exactly the same for yonks, but have never really hunted down a closed helmet for a reasonable price on ebay, or really asked anyone about trading - just not a model at the top of my priority list.

I like the yellow on him, but he does look like an armour plated wasp at the moment  ;)

Is it just me, or does Garrick look like he's about to transform into a Pontiac Chevrolet?

Yeah, unsurprisingly he's already earned the nickname bumblebee!

I knew that.

Of course, in my heart, Bumblebee is and always will be a VW and I don't care what anyone else says.

Well, I've posted up some more background, and its time for a few more teaser pics...

The Lady

The Instrument

Garrick Onasis

And the mysterious blue machine...

As always, comments and criticisms are much appreciated. The characters have had a fair bit of clean up done to them since these pictures, and the vehicle is coming along nicely. With regards to background, if anyone has anything they'd like to say in character as it were, I'm sure Kallith won''t mind!

I can't give criticism on models that don't exist :P

Stop teasing us like this! Either release the full pictures or return to that special circle of hell reserved for people who release teaser shots :(

And talk at the theatre no less...

I'll be putting some more pictures of the vehicles and other scenario related gubbinz. But that's your lot for the characters. At least until after the IGT!

I'm also planning on adding much more background over the coming month.

I agree with RobSkib - if you want comments, post proper photos  :P

As for Robey and psycho - what the hell are you talking about?  ???

He's not one of us! Kill the interloper!

Toy soldiers, yes. Transformers, no. Geek? Perhaps.

Sorry to derail the thread.

Well I promised you more pictures, pictures where you can actually see what's going on! It's at this point it should become clear part of my teaser ploy was to avoid showing you my rather mediocre brushwork! Still any feedback would be more than appreciated.

First up is something I haven't shown you yet, it's a lifeboat which may or may not (I still haven't decided) make an appearance at the IGT. It's made from the body of a valkyrie and some resin engines (possibly from the FW marauder I think).

I deliberately went for the bright orange, (even though colour doesn't matter much in space) to make it recognisable to players. I also wanted it to have a used and frequently-repainted feel like lifeboats on many passenger ships. (Not because they keep sinking, but because many vessels use lifeboats as small ferries etc. Plus it always amazes me how crudely painted such things are up close.

Anyway, enough waffle. Bring on the boat!

Double post I know, but I finally got the other pictures to upload!

I've always been something of a vehicle fan, and I thought I'd try making something a little different (and practical!) for a change. I give to you Aurelia Forge's latest in all-terrain personal transport; the mongrel.

Scratch-built from two bike bases, a landraider engine block, bits of a bastion, the door-gun mounts from a valkyrie and the wheels and suspension from a 1:32 apc. Painted blue for your enjoyment.

It hasn't really been weathered yet, beyond oil and grease stains. I think I'll keep the wheels relatively clean but I might be persuaded otherwise!

Oh yes, theres also a security forces version with more armour and the option of a mounted lmg.

Comments and critiques are more than welcome!

Worth the wait! The final picture of the life boat captures everything you described and that I also hold to be true about them. The roughness of the paint job and surface is brilliant. The ID number painted over it is suitable rough.

I really like the quads as well. I've rarely used vehicles in inquisitor and have never built any. These are great.

I like the orange of the lifeboat your right the colour does not matter in space but when you say to players its a life boat well most people from the UK will go oh yeah and thus they wont really need reminding of what it is again the only thing is i cant see an obvious door or hatch for a 54mm model i might just be blind but where does the unfortunate get in before being jettisoned into space.

Those are a great pair of quads, inspired use of all sorts of parts there. :)
The lifeboat looks good too, but how on earth do you come to having spare marauder engines that you can just burn on a project like this???

Love them!

I think the lifeboat's colour is perfectly sensible.  It looks like it could make a planetary emergency landing and would need to be bright for the same reason modern lifeboats are bright.

The Mongrels are brilliant and, given the number of kits I can see in their construction, perfectly named.  Are they from the Heinz forgeworld, Type 57?

They are indeed. They did a limited edition green version for a while, but strangely it didn't sell very well!

Wow, I love those vehicles. The lifeboat is impressive, but those quad bikes are fantastic. What was the specific 1/32 apc that you used?

Sorry for the delay! The wheels are from the 1/35 Trumpeter JGSDF NBC Detection Vehicle, and the JGSDF Type 82 Command Post. Both of which use the same base vehicle.

Oh and the lifeboat door is at the rear, same as the standard Valkyrie!
