Title: Skivvy Mutant
Post by: Inquisitor Dionzi on June 06, 2011, 03:40:53 PM
Oioi.

Below are the WIP pics of a sculpt I've been working on, one I've named "Skivvy." I'm basing his design off of Gorkamorka muties. I'm planning on sculpting a tattered shirt over his body, open in the front so that people can change the physical aspects of gender on the model.

It's fully 54mm tall (well, if it were standing straight!) and can use the Imperial Guard arms!

Lemme know what you think - I'm hoping that this little guy will be able to use Gav's Zombie Kits.

I take it from your wording that you plan on casting this beastie? If so I'm in, like the look of it already, excellent work. Is the body all sculpted or part of another model too? Looks great either way!

Hi!

I am planning on casting this beastie, as the second released mini from Skyfall.  I'm using an aluminum-filled resin, which should permit for not only polishing but for relatively easy conversion.  I've also discovered a "local" resource that will allow me to cast in metal, should it become feasible.

The mini is all one fresh sculpt :)

The plan is to give him a club and a revolver as standard, and to make a couple of equipment sprues to go along with him: a backpack and a couple of other weapons are first up [:)]

I like how itis shaping up. The pose already helps making it look like someone without much to lose. The face is also starting to look good.

I'm a big fan of his body shape and the lurch that the pose gives him, still looking forward to a casting!

Good stuff

Hi All,

I'm now beginning to take pre-orders for both Skivvy (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1581.0 (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1581.0)) and Shaiyleigh (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1479.0 (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1479.0)): I have the vac chamber, I just need to get funds for the silicone rubber and resin.  The weapons packs (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2019.0 (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=2019.0)) are still in development, but I am receiving considerable support from this community, and I hope to soon have two, perhaps all three ready to go soon!

I'm offering one free mini or one free weapon-pack to the people who place orders between now and the end of August: For now, I'm thinking Skivvy at 8GBP, Shaiyleigh at 14GBP, and weapons packs at 8GBP. The free mini/weapon pack will be at the choice of the customer (duplicate or summat different). This is for 2 reasons: one, the Conclave community has supported me for so long that I want to give something back; two, I am asking for money up front (for now), and I want to give something back to the people who help get this project up off the ground, both financially and in faith. As I get manufacturing materials stockpiled, I plan to increase the size of weapons packs (from 3 weapons to 6 weapons for 8 quid), but for now, this is what I can do.

I am also accepting custom orders for self-made minis!

So, anyway, I thought you'd like to know, and feel free to contact me either through PM here or via e-mail (dionzi[at]skyfallminiatures.com)

Hope to hear from you all soon!

Dio

Here's an update on Skivvy. This is a photo of a cast, but, as you can see, I've got some tweaks to the moulding/casting process to make. It'll be easier once I can get a new vacuum pump (I need something that'll move 5-9 cubic feet of atmosphere a minute. Mine's only a 2.5)

Do you by any chance have any pics of the WIP green rather than the cast?

The fine detail looks a little shaky in a couple of places, it'd be good to see if that's a casting process artifact.

I like the shape/skeletal structure though, and he' make a good base for a conversion.

Sorry, idiot moment there - the final green, not the WIP, if it's significantly different from those already posted.

No, doesn't look like I've got any pics of the green, and it has been put away into storage. *shrug* Most likely what you're seeing are where I've separated components, and those should be filled with GS like any other mini. There are a couple of places where I've deliberately made the mini look rough or scruffy. And given that this is my first completed mini in true 54mm scale (I've done more since, don't worry!), the detailing's not too bad. Not great, but not bad.
