Hi
After building my =][= scale rhino and Chimera I wanted to make something nasty and big. Something to put the fear of god in any warband.
Some progress so far.

All C&C welcome and updates soon.

...I want one...
very nice.
Although if the sight of a Traitor Marine would cause your innards to turn to jelly, god know what the sight of a Chaos Dreadnaught would do!!

When would you use this? Space marines are powerful enough, how will your opponents destroy this.
(maybe pull the mkoll trick and detonate your lasgun under it's nose)
Once again, I am left deciding whether to admire your skills or hate them.
We'll go with "envy". That'll do.
flaming nora! :o
what weapon loadout you planning on?
I need to learn how to model plasticard properly. What you have achieved with this and the various tanks is simply jaw-dropping.

Sometimes its not a matter of when, BUt rather IF you use it
the dread could also be for an ambush and not so much destroy it BUT rather avoid it and get away
I am aroused and terrified in equal measure.
Nice work!
Saw this on youtube and thought it might be interesting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wZFgME1kr4
Fear of God duly imposed.

Gadzooks! That is an impressive looking piece of work. Spectacular!
Hi fellow inquisitors
After quite a long hiatus I've finially got around to making a little more progress. For the past couple of days, after work and on my days I've been slaving away on the big fellas arms. Not quite finished just got to make the choppy bits and that will be this phase complete.

Let me Know what you think. As alway C&C appreciated.

Christ on a stick.
That'll do. :o
*Frantically starts stockpiling meltabombs*
But on a more serious note, I love it. It would be a great surprise about halfway throughout a campaign:
"Ok, you're about to sneak up on the Big Bad Baddie (TM). Wait, what the "£%"£ is THAT? RUN YOU FOOLS
Result: One very shaken group of players.
A really great design too, I like the details. Any chance of a scale shot with a "standard" 54mm model?
Keep it up, and keep us updated!
Thanks Draco
Heres that comparison shot you wanted.

Arms are about 95% complete with just the last touchs once the rest of the model comes together. Working on the legs now.

well at least it won't be mowing everything down with autocannons... just shredding them with it's arms instead.
Looks great, I approve of this assault dreadnaught and look forward to seeing it in battle.
That is truly impressive o.o masterful plasticard work
GRUESOME.. AND AWESOME... TASTIC. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. ;D
Damn, I need to get back into the game...
A really beautiful thing, for which there is only one good reaction: run away as fast as possible.
I can't say much that hasn't already been said, so imagine various statements of praise and wonderment below:
Done? Good. I mean every word.

Running, flying or driving?
Nope. Running, calling in an orbital strike, or having the Jubilee shoot it.
Not everyone has a Jubilee at hand, unfortunately...
Thanks for all the really encouraging comments guys. When I was finally talked into making this beast I wanted warbands to run in terror, trying to keep their distance, hence the lack in ranged firepower.
Have really come along with the legs this past week. Awaiting some more materials to finish the armour plating on the lower legs. Here's a picture on progress so far and a comparison sort as well.

... if you paint it Tzeentchian style, you could claim it as a 40K Chaos superheavy too, simply a Dreadnought made vast by the powers of chaos...
It is one of the best things I have ever seen.

It is one of the best things I have ever seen.
That is a bold statement. I will echo the words, but qualify them by saying that it is one of the best Inquisitor models that I have ever seen (I mean no disrespect, it is just that I have seen a lot of stuff in my life, and models, no matter how amazing, don't even come close to the top of the list. Anyway, I seem to be rambling like a lunatic, so I will just say that I think it is awesome, I look forward to seeing it painted, and I will now shut up.)
I'm not entirely sure, but it looks like it's sitting a little high on the legs to me (I'd expect it to look a little more squat). However, you can nevertheless colour me impressed.
It looks great, I think that the legs might look a bit too tall but there are still the armour plates that will cover the lower part of them and it stands straith, which is unlike the leg position of the 40k dreadnought.

MAKE MY DREADNOUGHT GROOOOOW!
...sorry, couldn't resist
Bloody Amazing. Can't put my finger on what it is about the legs, maybe when the shin armour is on it will look right.
Hi all
another update for everyone. Think I managed to get the leg sorted now. With the addition of the armour plates it seems to put everything into proportion. Next job on my list is cabling/piping and to finish the head which I'm starting to bulk up and add detail.

That... is... beautiful :-*
Very impressive indeed.
This has really been a labour of love. The level of detail is excellent, and the craftsmanship is second to none.
You have a lot of be proud about here.
Although, the real test of skill is going to be the paintjob. Although paint is the most superficial part of any model, it is also something that can really liven up a detailed model such as this. On the other hand, a poor paintjob can do the exact opposite.
In short, the work so far is amazing. Keep it up. :P
It looks marvellous. All the detail is lovely and I can;t wait to see more.
Thanks for all the encouragement so far. As to painting, I'm a little out of practice so you might have to wait a while. Thought I'd post the most recent work I've made to the head, which I'm pretty happy with so far.

Plus as a bonus I've added some runes to the Sarcophagus armour.

It all looks very good, the runes really add to the body. The head looks very fitting for the dread, and a bit scary as well.
Holy cow.
Progress report?
As requested by TheNephew - Slowly painting away - Enjoy.

It is magnificent and menacing. A beautiful model.
*insane gibbering*
I like the colour scheme you've chosen. The edges seem quite dark, and this is good. I've seen many a black legion arm with bright edging, and it doesn't look right. This looks nice and gritty. And it blew my mind.
*more insane gibbering*
8) Looking good... in an evil Chaos kinda way! Coooooooooooool paint job ;D
Absolutley terrifying!
I don't envy the poor fool who gets stuck in close combat with this abomination! (Or the fella who has to clean up afterwards, come to that.)
Truly impressive. Pity an undertaking like this would be excruciating to do a tutorial for. I'd like to make one just to have it on my desk. Not chaos, granted, but still the point stands.
Dear sir, your skill with the plasticard is divine! 8) I also love the model! This would be great for larger games. And those games were everyone didn't get the memo saying "no space marines". You've got 5 players with all space marines...no problem! Meet Mr. Cuddles! Brrruuuhahaha!
OK now I'm being silly. But once again great work! :)
Sweet Holiest Emperor.... I've wet myself.
huh, apparently I managed to miss the final update of the completed model - great work.
This model is simply fantastic. But you already knew that, of course :)
Gaming-wise, I am instantly reminded of a scene in the original Ghost in the Shell, where Major Kusanagi has to dodge a huge robot firing at her by sprinting from pillar to pillar around a room. That kind of scenario might work rather nicely with this beast, with the player characters having to avoid getting caught by the Dread...
Anyway, before I go on rambling pointlessly, fantastic work! ;D
Love it!
I would paint it in Alpha Legion colours. If any legion would be able to smuggle in a dread, it would be them. ^^
