Title: The Mancunian Conclave 01. 29/07/09
Post by: Kaled on August 02, 2009, 11:06:10 AM
I posted this on Warseer the other day, but figured I may as well repost it here to get things started...

Evening all,

Thought I'd share a few pictures from a couple of games Necris and I played last night.  Although technically we did win one game each, as you'll see, things didn't exactly go well for my warband with most of them being repeatedly taken out of action and/or captured (in a few cases, without them even having chance to do anything!) whereas Tony's warband were comparatively unscathed (losing just one member in each game).

As you can see, although I had a Valkyrie and a 4' board, we were forced to use some old Necromunda terrain which, despite being a little short, actually served us rather well; but chances are we'll start to replace it with some custom build terrain as we play more games.

- Game 1 -

Tech-priestess Orla Riall is attempting to deliver an alien artefact to her master Magos Vaal Kryzak.  Little do they know, members of the Inquisition have taken an interest in their activites and are about to spring an ambush.

Saphentis & Orla Riall (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5232.jpg) exit the Valkyrie and prepare to meet Magos Vaal Kryzak to hand over the alien arfefact; while Kryzak (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5233.jpg), accompanied by 'The Pariah', heads towards the rendezvous point.  Meanwhile, Cross (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5234.jpg) hides in the shadows overlooking the meeting where he observes Orla and Kryzak (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5235.jpg) meeting and Kryzak taking possession of the artefact.

Kryzak (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5236.jpg) and his team leave the rendezvous point, at whioch point Valka (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5237.jpg) springs the trap by blasting Orla in the back.  Fortunately her armour protects her from the worst of the blast and she retaliates by chopping down Cog (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5238.jpg).  Valka and Saphentis (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5239.jpg), become locked in close-combat, and as the rest of his team escape, Saphentis falls to Valka's chainsword and is captured.

Kryzak escaped with the artefact and Orla was forced to flee when attacked by three members of the opposing warband.  The Pariah took one hit and was out of the game before it could do anything.

- Game 2 -

Kryzak and his team attempt to rescue Saphentis before he can be properly interrogated and give away too many details of Kryzak's operations.

Valka, Cross, Serpentine & Drake (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5241.jpg) escort their prisoner towards a waiting Valkyrie, while Kryzak and The Pariah (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5244.jpg) and Orla and the Praetorian combat servitor Johann-4251 (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5243.jpg) lie in wait ready to attempt a rescue.

Johann (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5245.jpg) stalks into the open firing inneffectually at the enemy, who scatter into cover.  Drake (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5246.jpg) returns fire, and Kryzak (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5247.jpg) falls to Valka's chainsword and is captured himself.  The Pariah (http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t286/kaled100/Inquisitor%20Games/Mancunian%20Conclave%2001/IMG_5248.jpg) again falls before he is able to do anything, and Johann crashes to the ground after being hit by a powerfist.

Kryzak is captured, but Orla is unlikely to let her master be detained for long - as members of the AdMech they have quite a few fancy technological tricks up their sleeves that are beyond even the Inquisition...

Hopefully we'll be having a return match in the next few weeks, so expect to hear more from these characters then.

- Dave

Orla must be the newest member that you were hinting at right before the previous 'Clave went down, am I right? I'd love to see some close-ups of her!

Also, who owns/built the 54mm valkyrie? It's amazing!

Yes, Orla is my most recent model - I posted a thread on Warseer about her, but I'll put her on here too.

That would be mine - glad you like it.  :-)

Great job on the Report, the game, and the Valk! I have to agree with what RobSkib about the Valk, it looks amazing!

One more echoing of the point about the Valkyrie - very impressive.

Looking forward to reading the return match. Did the playtesting of Orla's rules work out alright in the end?

It's probably too soon to tell - I didn't really get chance to get much of a feel for how/if they should be changed based on these two games.

It's a shame we never got a picture of me running around the hall with the Valkyrie, making "whoosh, neeow, zap, zap" noises during the NS/OL campaign day.

Maybe next time...  I'm working on another aircraft, so maybe we can play 54mm Aeronautica Imperialis in the carpark at WHW!

Nope, but I've still got the diagrams I used when building it.  I took the plan and side views from Imperial Armour and printed them out at the correct size so I could take measurements straight from them.  I have no use for them anymore, so if anyone wants them let me know.

Be warned though - although the Valkyrie was pretty easy to make and was quite cheap (about the cost of the 28mm kit), it did take forever to build.

Uber-post Dave with some spiffing, quality pictures. However, I now consider you an arch Heretic. Manchester should always be avoided at all costs :P.

In that case, arrange a game in Liverpool and invite us there instead...

Glad to see the Mancunian Conclave Active.  I'm up for some games in september. :D

Good Report, bit lacking in the details though. The Pictures more than make up for it though.

Yeah, it wasn't going to be a report - I was just going to caption the pictures and have them as a series of snapshots of games in progress, but once I did that they almost seemed to be a narrative so I expanded the comments a little.

But yes, when you're back in this part of the world we'll organise a game.

Anyone up for a Manchester Game anytime soon? If people are interested I'll go in and find out what days we can use the local GW's boards, they have some good stuff for inq, and a specialist games night on thursdays.

Anyone interested?

Sure - however it'd have to be evenings or weekends (or Friday afternoon) for me.

EDIT: Or, if you fancy a trip up to Preston, I'm happy to host a game...

17th is good for me. However, I could also do the Friday, and then maybe we could get a longer game in.

How about that Necris?

And anyone else in the NW? We must be able to get a few more conclavers?

I could leave work at 12:30 on the Friday (18th).  I guess that would mean I would get into Manchester around 1:30 ish...

Perhaps we ought to move this to the Community & Announcements board - we might get a better response there?

honestly my best days are mondays and wednesdays as I have the nights off

I od however lose the car on those days as the little lady has to work on those nights

for the rest of the week I mainly do night shifts which is a bitch
Fingers crossed though all that will change
