Title: Eldar "familiar"?
Post by: zasapamasawasa on August 17, 2010, 10:30:18 AM
Hi everyone, didn't know quite where to put this so I just stuck it in here.

I am starting a new Inq28 warband of two Eldar brothers and I wanted to give the lead brother some kind of small familiar or pet. Does anyone know of any small Eldar animals that I could have a go at making, maybe to sit on his shoulder or something?

Grynx! The Grynx! Its like a large pointed ear cat, usually spotted. There used to be a metal model, and there is a picture in the... 4th Ed Rulebook, background section, "the Dying", I think... The Karl Kopinski one of the Warlock from Ulthwe. Great picture, as it happens...

Or how about a  Benathai, an avatar-construct of Endobai; The Eagle of Heaven?

Yeah, go with a Benathai - I remember a WD article (maybe) where they built one fro an Epic Knight with an eagle's head...
Can't quite remember how though.
I think if it was for 40k it'd probably be at least waist high, though that might be a bit big for your purposes.

Still the final product looked pretty cool and would suit a techy Eldar character.

It was Citadel Journal, and it was created using an epic war walker and the eagle head from Marneus Calgar's backpack, but I'm sure you can differ the design, maybe something like a wraithbone eagle, like Athena's clockwork owl from Clash of the Titans.

Cool idea, I'll start making something like that tonight and post pics in the P&M forum when I get round to taking some.
BTW, these might be useful as familiars for other characters: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cat/sku-down/02969 (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/cat/sku-down/02969)
