Anyone can muck in?

So I could put forward a mixed unit I've been thinking of?

Yello!

Decided to take a little break from the Tuloni III incident, so I decided I'd join the merry ranks of Imperial Guard for a moment.

Hope I'm not messing anything up too bad.

I deliberately left Skorn and co. a little distance away from your crew, so that they wouldn't interfere with anything, but are handily nearby in case you wish for interaction between them.

EDIT: Oh, by the way, who or what is the enemy?

Yeah, I've mucked in.

I am running with the 1st Kovnian Armoured, also known as the Black Knights. They are a name-only mention on Lexicanum, so I thought I'd give'm a whirl.

Current Characters:
Gunnery Sergeant Aedan Varth, commander, Semper Fidelis
2LT Darrian Theron, commander, Death before Dishonor
Corporal Jory Tabris, gunner, Semper Fidelis

Aedan Varth carries a sawed-off shotgun, Arbites issue, and two autopistols.
He wears a Flak Vest but not much other armor, given his position as Tank Commander.

2LT Darrian Theron, on the other hand, always goes into battle with a lasgun by his side. He wears light IG Flak Armor, and is known to commandeer crew-served weapons, given his previous experience as a siege artilleryman.

Corporal Jory Tabris is a http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/KnifeNut who carries several blades on him at all times, though regimental legend states this was to settle his many back-alley brawls before he entered Guard service. Whatever the reason, Tabris is a excellent combatant, and is ghostly scary with his fething knives.

The Kovnian 1st use many kinds of Leman Russ's, but as befitting their role in a trench war, prefer to use Leman Russ Conquerors, which can lay down a rate of fire few tanks can match.

Ok so some form of description for the enemy and now some insider knowledge

the enemy is Chaos (duh)

The world has fallen to Chaos the crusade is to re-conquer the sector in the name of the Emperor and liberate the worlds which have broken away from Imperial Rule.

The Chaos forces are two stage (at least what has been seen so far)

1st the heavy armoured soldiers are the loyalist chaos army they are professional disciplined and well organised similar is skill and ability to Imperial Stormtroopers but much tougher, within a single force there are four battalions each one dedicated to one of the four gods of chaos these are depicted by the colours of the face plates of their helms (Think Blood Pact troopers)

2nd the lighter armoured soldiers are those who have sided with chaos they are irregular and ill disciplined kept in line by the more professional soldiers of chaos, these people used to be the lower class citizens the labour force and the menials that worked the worlds that have fallen, they were corrupted through orators who lead them still clad as saintly figures their voices bellowing out over battlefields ( like a penal legion with a commissar bellowing over them)

Commanding the armies are champions these men seem to be almost unstoppable they stand over their minions and can seemingly take shots that would normally kill a normal man out right.

Within the army there have been reports of traitor ogryns

the enemy make use of older models of heavy tanks such as the Malcador, Macharius, Valdor and Minotaur. they also make use of salamander tanks and stalk tank walkers (Four legged sentinels again think blood pact)

anyway hope thats enough to work with

Cool.

Xeno, if you need Skorn or Gieler to do something, feel free to use them. Just one note: Skorn is currently deaf. His hearing will return gradually, perhaps, but not just yet. Hope you don't mind me giving your guys some random las-fire? ;)

Of course not man, it's war.

On the other hand, do you mind clarifying the direction you send Skorn and co so that I can send Theron elsewhere? It's not you, it's me. Heh.  Just so we don't have short entries.

We'll, Skorn's headed in the general direction of Hill 29188. But if it matters, let's say... he's headed for the left flank of Hill 29188.

Ok, think I'll add a little to this.

I'll be writing for one squad from the Auzzian 23rd. A detachment of 100 men has been sent ahead of the rest of the regiment as more of a political move than anything else; their commanding officers hope to find favour with the Lord General (or whoever's leading this war) so that they can possibly save their squads from meatgrinder assaults and time in the trenches, which they are unsuited for.

Unfortunately, it would seem the detachment has ended up in such a place, but perhaps their specialisations can help them out.

Auzzi III is the prime recruiting world for the Vanderath system's Imperial Guard regiments. A near-deathworld, its terrain varies from empty deserts, to thick swamps. The temperatures range from around 30 degrees Celsius to as high as 90 degrees Celsius.

Regiments from Auzzi III tend to specialise in skirmishes and ambushes; they are excellent trackers and prefer close-range firefights. The original human inhabitants of the world are very important to the function of each squad, as they are trained from birth to notice anything and everything, and often have ritual augmetics implanted to help them fulfill their role of scouts or sentries.

Guardsmen from Auzzi have little to no experience with autoguns or flamers, using lasguns, grenade launchers and plasmaguns. The traditional squad heavy weapon is a multi-laser, and all troopers are required to carry a large knife for close-combat.

Every squad also includes a trained marksman, scout/tracker and yeller. The intense magnetic field of Auzzi III makes vox-casters almost useless, so troopers are trained to throw their voices in a series of signals that can, with proper training, be heard up to three kilometers away.

Commissars attached to Auzzian squads are required to replace their black leather trench coats with white cloth ones, after a slew of casualties among attached Commissariat members due to heat stroke. The squad members themselves respect the Commissars, but will not follow orders that are tantamount to suicide.

Sounds like the Auzzi and the Vergast will get along, though the Vergast are use to moving through warzone to establish the best angle of attacks, they excel at recon work and ambush and close assault their twin blades are around 20 inches long they were traditionally used by the low borns against the longer 36 + inch weapons of the nobility, their quicker draw time and the fact that they fight with two gave them an advantage over the more traditional sword (Think ninja and samurai but European  ;D)

Cool. The Auzzi are are Guard regiments of my own creation, a little tribute to my home country almost. Think Crocodile Dundee and other traditional Australian stereotypes thrust into 40k.

Aussie themed Guardsmen is a great idea and I don't recall it ever being used before (I think the 3rd Ed. Guard 'dex may have had somethign that hinted at it but no background). Ocker Maximus Imperial Guardsman, sounds nasty.

I've been reading along with this so far and I've been very tempted to join in but I have several different ideas I'd like to pursue and I just can't make my mind up.

Ha, yes  ;D

It's something I've been wanting to use for ages and I've just been thinking about it and the simplest solution would be to make the concept just another part of my Janissaries which would fit seen as how they already have such an odd bunch of units anyway allowing me to use this other warrior idea I've had and update the Janissaries.
