This is my first character generation and background write-up. I've looked at what has been posted in the past and come up with a few ideas. Blue marks changes made.

High Interrogator Vaarn

Age: 118
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 13st 2lbs
Eyes: Brown
Hair colour: Black

History:

Vaarn was born on the hive world moon Nemaris Beta, abandoned at a young age and left to fend for himself. His younger years were spent scavenging to survive and avoiding capture by local law enforcers. At the age of 17 Vaarn was taken in by a group of hive gangers, the "Sewer Rats", with whom he took part in countless crimes. Vaarn's first kill was 3 months after joining the gang, during a raid on a shipping warehouse. At first the feeling of ending another persons life had scared him, but it wasn't long before he found himself enjoying the act. Under interrogation, other gang members commented on how calm Vaarn could be in combat, a strange smile on his face.

At the age of 22 Vaarn and the rest of the gang were caught by a law enforcement sting operation. Vaarn later found out that the gang leader had betrayed them to avoid conviction. Due to Nemaris Beta's severely conjested judicial system, most felons are not brought before a magistrate for at least 15 years. During this time, criminals are transported to a maximum security prison located in the Damon Asteroid belt. However, after 2 years Vaarn was removed from the facility as an exceptional case for services rendered during his short stay. Vaarn had secured multiple confessions from fellow inmates, quelled three individual prison riots and uncovered a practising cultist movement amongst the guards. It is uncertain if the reports are an accurate account of what transpired during those two years.

Vaarn is Right Handed

Weapons: Pump action shotgun, Shock hammer, spiked glove on right hand

Armor: Carapace armor on chest, legs and arms, Flak armor on all other locations except head

Equipment: 18 shotgun rounds, 4 manstopper rounds

Skills: Subdue

Known enemies: "Vern" Raddix, ex-leader of the Sewer Rats

Attire:

Dark and murky layers of clothing that are typical of the enforcer attire, but with embroidery and detail that suggests his standing as a High Interrogator. Papyrus paper covered in written oaths and purity seals show his dedication to justice and The Emperor's will. Sturdy knee-high boots that allow for full-pelt pursuits. Engraved carapace armor on both his chest and shoulders displaying his affiliation with the Inquisition.

Experience:

Due to Vaarn's background, he has no problem mingling with the scum of the underground and his training combined with this gives him a great insight to the inner workings of the criminal mind. His detective sleuthing skills are highly attuned to putting together crime scenes and following those all-important leads. He is very meticulous. Average combat skills, compared to his experience with ranged weapons. (shotgun specialist)

Thats as far as I've gotten for now, the history section still needs completing. Vaarn is at the stage where he has been picked out of the Damon asteroid prison by people who feel he has the rough makings of an enforcer, he would then go through whatever training and orientation would be neccessary to hone his rough skills.

I've tried to give Vaarn a background that would explain why he follows the career path of the enforcer. He was betrayed by the criminal underworld that took him in, and sought revenge/ was put through some form of rehabilitation that lead to him joining the ranks of the enforcers.

I wanted to give Vaarn a darker side that stems from his criminal upbringing. I see him being a bit sadistic, taking pleasure in interrogating criminals, perhaps torturing them even after he has the information he needs. Whether this would just be down to how the character is played or perhaps some form of special rule that can be employed to affect his actions. Again, I think I'd have to explain this character trait more in his background to have some form of set rule for him.

He also has a small-time nemesis or target to chase for the beginning of his career. ("Vern" Raddix, ex-leader of the Sewer Rats) I'm unsure how long this enemy would go on for, or whether this would be a small hurdle that Vaarn originally thinks is his goal, but isn't enough to satisfy him. Perhaps this is something I can incorperate into his background.

I see the shock hammer working with the same stats as a shock maul.

Any comments and suggestions for alterations would be appreciated.

Er... what? In my experience, 5' 12" is usually better known as 6' 0"...

Sounds very nice for an Imperial legal system. Trials are often simply forgotten in favour of just doling out a hefty and usually very unpleasant sentence.

As far as stats, I'd say that's very much on the modest side, and were it my character, I would expect to bury at least a few more points in between his physical stats.
S.Sgt Silva Birgen: "Good evening, we're here from the Adeptus Defenestratus."
Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".

Yeah, this was a typo/ mistake due to stupidity. Changed it now to 5' 10"

I agree it sounds a bit far-fetched for the simplified and brutal legal system of the 41st millenium. The reason I wrote it this way was to explain how he went from criminal to enforcer and his development of interrogation skills.

Another background version would be that Vaarn escaped the sting operation organized by the law enforcement. Afterwards he became an underground detective and bounty hunter, all the while searching for "Vern" Raddix. After 10 years of work Vaarn is employed by an enforcer group due to his abilities to blend in with the criminal underworld and his deep understanding of the criminal mind. After said employment, Vaarn is offered a place amongst the enforcers along with further years of training.

This of course is just a rough idea and would need padding out with more detail, but hopefully it seems a bit more plausible  :)

Sadly this is my first stat-line generation. I've read from other threads that the sample statlines in the rulebook are overpowered, but perhaps I have gone a bit too far the other way. Here's another try:
