Unbound Daemonhost

I just scored an unbound daemonhost model on Ebay (unnassembled and unpainted, I might ad). I'm planning on using it for a chaos or rogue Ordo Malleus warband, but I really don't have much of an idea as to what the model's supposed to look like once it's built. Does anyone have any pics of the assembled and/or painted Unbound Daemonhost model?

Theoretically, if you're really desperate for better, I can scan in stuff from Exterminatus 6, but if not, the German Lexicanum has this (unfortunately a bit hard to make out) image:

S.Sgt Silva Birgen: "Good evening, we're here from the Adeptus Defenestratus."
Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".

That one is a tad hard to tell the details. If you could scan the Exterminatus 6 one, I'd really appreciate it. :3

Ah man... now I've got to find where I put my copy of Ext 6. Ah well, at least I know roughly where my scanner is.

*Goes upstairs*

Right... in something that must be a challenger for biggest irony ever, said issue was right on top of the scanner.  ::)

This is the best I can offer. If someone else can be bothered to try and find the old GW online store pictures, that would be an improvement, but I hope that's not necessary.

(In case you're looking for the rules from that same issue, they can be found in the PDFs thread in the rules forum.)

Thanks so much man, sorry for the hastle. ^^ Good pic, much easier to tell the details now. I like it.

And I do have the PDF files already, thanks.

that pic should actually be enough on its own - as all the seperate parts are on the right side of the body.
The breakdown is such:

  • body, left arm, left leg and trailing cloth
  • sculpted base piece that the trail cloth slots into
  • right arm
  • right leg (knee-down)
  • head
  • various spikes

It is a pain in the but to pin this model btw, especially the base - took me three pins going through the base, ground piece and cloth to make it stable.
It's all fun and games until someone shoots their own guy with a Graviton gun instead of the MASSIVE SPIDER.

Probably should have put this question in a new thread as it's not related to Painting & Modelling.  I might be wrong but I don't think Marco has those rules in his archive, you need Exterminatus magazine issue 6 or the 2004 annual.

However unbound daemonhosts are designed to be controlled by the GM rather than as a player character.  If I were you, I'd have your daemon bound into a host body but say the bindings are mostly there to keep him in the material realm rather than to tightly control him.  However it's probably best that whoever bound him does have some degree of control - daemons don't really like being bound...

If you want to discuss it more - it would be worth starting a new thread under Rules Discussion.

Actually, I do have that article, given that I might have accidentally dropped my copy of Exterminatus 6 on my scanner while it was running.

The two daemon articles are here - one or other of these: Unbound daemonhosts & Manifest daemons.
The difference is that an unbound daemonhost is still possessing a human body, but one without the proper wards and bindings. A manifest daemon has a form of its own.

But bear in mind, as Kaled says, either of these is a terrifyingly powerful force not suited for use as a player character - GM controlled only. PC daemons should be bound daemonhosts.

Clumsy, very clumsy!

Oh, you wouldn't believe it. I kept dropping it every time I turned the page.
As for how it ended up on the internet, you all know how temperamental technology can be if you fail to incant the seventy-four praises to the cogitator's machine spirit every day.

Of course I wouldn't go against GW's "No scanning of old print materials" policy, because they might wish to publish it again in future, just like they're interested in still making all the articles that were once on the Specialist Games site available.
