Inquisitor Octavian Lars

Inquisitor Octavian Lars of the Demon Hunters

Born on the planet Catachan a fierce world of hardy warriors that specialise in jungle warfare and son of the famous Colonel Griess of the Catachan 2nd regiment and taken to the Schola Progenium on Volag Nok by Lord Commissar von Carstien. As a son of Catachan he excelled in combat situations as expected and bonded well with a fellow Catachan named Karazak Johnson, but what surprised all of his peers and assistants was his willingness to learn and focussed hard on his studies. His areas of focus for learning was small squad combat and weapon studies. On the training field he excelled in close combat he also made a proficient marksman with his favourite revolver nicknamed "Banisher". Another talent he developed on combat situations was in commanding his soldiers with great efficiency even in the thick of combat. This ability soon swelled to a level where he could command all of the cadets in the Progenium and beat an equal number of staff in pitched battle. A quirk of being Catachan was a sense of kinship with his men (especialy Karazak as they were now almost inseperable) and a sense of duty and as such he led from the front more often than not. When the time of graduation came at the age of 22 his studies and abilities in the field had made him the perfect recruit for the daemon hunters of the Ordo Malleus and became a member of the Inquisition. Since joining them he has risen through the acolyte stage while showing progress in anti-deamon studies to a prominent position, at the age of 58 he is an inquisitor held in high esteem and already roumers of his diligance have spred back to Catachan. Even now, he still uses the revolver he learned to shoot with. Although capable of leading huge armies he prefers to fight a secret war with his veteran warband, including the Arco Flagellant Greengo 268R, given to him as a gift from the Ordo Hereticus after commanding a combined army of Battle Sisters and Grey Knights after the battle sisters' commander (Witch Hunter Dictatus) was assassinated by daemons of Slanesh. At the current time he is currently fighting a secret campaign against a Renegade Magos of the Dark Mechanium and his warrior band.

Arco Flagellant Greengo R268

Formerly an imperial guardsman, Greengo's previous name was Private James Green and was convicted of heresy, but was offered a chance for redemption through Arco Flagellentation, being given the trigger word Redeemer and was entrusted to Witch Hunter Dictatus who was assassinated and was then given to Inquisitor Octavian Lars for the acts of valour and leadership he showed during the battle that followed. Greengo has since served well under the fledgling Inquisitor Lord in his secret wars against Chaos.

Equipment: Electro-Flail implanted into right arm, Power Fist implanted into left arm, injector with 50 doses of Barrage, 'Slaught, Psykon.

Greengo R268's trigger word is Redeemer.

Catachan Bodyguard to Octavian Lars, Major Karazak Johnson

Though he looks older than Octavian Lars, he is actualy slightly younger as his ship transporting hm to Volag Nok got caught in a warp-storm and his skin aged by about 5 years. At Volag Nok, he instintively bonded with his fellow Catachan, Octavan Lars and they became inseperable towards the end of their time at the progenium. While Octavian's talents lay in command and leadership,  Karazak's were in extreme loyalty and bodyguarding. When they were both on the training fields, Karazak nearly always acted as Octavian's bodyguard and gained several facial scars both in mock battle, brawls in the weights room and in bodyguard classes. At graduation, when Octavian Lars was taken into the Ordo Malleus, he was also chosen as his bodyguard and as part of his retinue if he surpassed the accolyte stage both by the inquisitor representative and by Octavian Lars. In the years that followed, Johnson has taken many hits for Octavian and had bionic surgery to implant a power claw into his left hand after it was cut off by a cultist while protecting Octavian.Other surgery has included having a spur and a reflex gland implanted into him to make him more aggressive and to increase his reaction times. But as an Inquisitor's bodyguard, he is destined to die protecting him and he takes this with the typical Catachan gung-ho attitude.

Arch-Magos Volta  Electron of the Dark Mechanium

Born and raised on Mars, the home of the Adeptus Mechanius and climbed to the rank of Magos after finding several long lost STC blueprints. Volta Electron was addicted to having extreme bionic surgery to an extent whwre very little human remained and as such wears a similar bionic drill to Delphan Gruss from when their paths crossed at an STC dig also from this time, to assist in boring through slag piles Volta Electron became addcted to aggrevating drugs such as psykon. By the time he reached the rank of Arch-Magos, he started to go mad as he was less and less impressed with his inventions and discoveries, both of these things probably came from the large amounts of drugs he used and a slight glich in his memory chip. So, 25 years afterbeing promoted to Arch-Magos he turned to the dark studies and aspired to controll the warp and bond it in the ultimate fusion of machine and warp, though, 20 years into his studies a daemon of trezeench saw promise in hip and attempted to posses him, though in a last effort to preserve his couleges in the Mechanium he confined the daemon to his drill. As always with trezeench though, his drill has somewhat taken over in recent years and inslaved his personal Skitari bodyguard, Vulkan Proteus  to the dark gods through him as well as almost not being in control of his own body. His travels in the dark gods' service has both led him to develop innate psychic abilities and come into a secret campagn with Ordo Malleus Inquisitor Octavian Lars in which to practice the use of his psychic abilities. If Octavian Lars does not succeed in killing him and banishing his demon then the galaxy will be damned as he wil succeed in building a Psy-Tech Construct based on all he has learned and bring the galaxy into ruin.

Equipment: Bionic Head incuding psychic hood (armour 1) average bionic left arm with electro flail implant (Strength 58) and advanced bionic right arm with implant daemon drill  (Strength 92) (daemon prince with demonic ablities: Fiery Blast, Brain Leech, warpflame and vampyre with a willpower of 72) and stubber with 5 flechette rounds, Mechandrites, Advanced Bionic eyes with infrascope,  motion tracker and bio-scanner,  Advanced pair of bionic legs, advanced bionic lungs, Power armour on chest and abdomen, carapace armour on all other locations except left arm and head, injector with 9 doses of reflex and 4 doses of psykon, and 8 doses of de-tox.

Skitari Bodyguard Vulkan Proteus

As a soldier in the Skitari regiments, Vulkan Proteus has served mars all of his life, protecting thech-priests, titan princeps and occasionaly a magos as they search for lost STC blueprints and go about their buisness. Other tasks that this Skitarus has been involved in are defending AdMech outposts and forge worlds and a huge amount of bloodsoaked warzones that have been decided by the fabricator-general and other high ranking figures.  In recent years, Vulkan Proteus had hs services entrusted to the Arch-Magos Volta Electron and has scince been possesed by the daemonic servent Ar'k T'ao'ls after his master was also possessed.

How does this work?  Does he have some sort of implant that monitors the Inquisitor's vital signs?  Maybe it could work like a bioscanner that only detects Octavian.

You've got a lot of grenades in this warband - grenades are extremely powerful in Inquisitor so you might want to cut back on the numbers.

I'm not sure Blademaster and Force of Will are the right skills for this guy.  Force of Will is a skill best left to characters incapable of fear.  As for Blademaster - this guy has a power claw and no mention of being a superlative knife fighter.  I'd give him either the Bodyguard skill from the Navigators article or Shield from the marines one - that would better reflect his position as the Inquisitor's protector.

I would imagine he'd have a WS and BS in the 60s (or maybe  higher WS and lower BS), S & T should be about 60ish and I in the 60s as well.  He has a Schola education, so maybe mid 50s for his Sg.  He's brave so Nv in the mid 70s and loyal so Ld around that level too.

Strictly speaking you can't bind a daemon to any weapon other than 'mundane' ones.  I suggest that once the daemon is bound into the drill it no longer functions as it once did and now is basically an improvised weapon with daemonic powers.  If I was GMing and he was an NPC, a sort of end-of-campaign bad guy, then I might allow it to have the breacher rules as well as the daemonic powers, but not for a PC.

I don't think I've ever seen a set of characters with so many drugs between them!

I don't think cutting off his original arms and implanting new ones is suddenly going to make him ambidextrous - however I could accept that an ranking Magos has upgraded his brain and the interfaces to his arms so as to make himself ambidextrous.  I would suggest you give him the Rite of Pure Thought (from the Explorator Warbands article) so he gains Force of Will and Nerves of Steel, but I'd have thought that removing the emotional, illogical right hemisphere of his brain would greatly limit his psychic ability.  I assume Rock Steady Aim is supposed to be a reflection of him being a stable firing platform due to his extensive bionics, but although he has a stubber I'm not sure how he fires it as he has no hands.

Firstly, his S is still 150, not 144.  His WS is far too high in my opinion - Tech-Priests are dedicated to the Quest for Knowledge, not to training in close-combat.  His T is also very high.  His mental stats are high, but he is an Arch-Magos so that makes sense (but is a little dull in game terms as he'll likely never fail a test against one of those stats).

So he's not just a Skitarius, but one who has spent much of his career serving as a bodyguard.  While this is fine, it's a bit of a repeat of your Major Johnson character.

You might want to read the Explorator Warbands article I mentioned earlier, and maybe also one I wrote on Tech-Priests for Dark Magenta.  When reading the latter, I suggest you don't go overboard in selecting augmentations - the idea is to make Tech-Priests more interesting, not more powerful.  And if you're a novice player you can quickly end up with a character with an overwhelming amount of special rules.

Kaled, he can fire the stubber as it is implanted above the drill/ breacher and the sugestions have been implemented onto the word doc i am orking from (eisier to change than paper).
I have also finished the equipment for Vulkan Proteus (profile needs work) so they are below as well my final character is still in the dsgn pages but i have a name: Markus "Druggie" Carter.

Equipment: Automatic combat shotgun with 2 reloads, 12 scatter shells and 6 executioners, stubber with reload and 3 flechette rounds, Shock Maul, Suppression Shield, Carapace armour on all locations except head and bionic head with helm (av6), advanced bionic eyes, re-breather, range finder and psi-tracker, advanced bionic legs, advanced bionic brain.

Special Abilites: possesion, fearsome, hipshooting, nerves of steel, deadeye shot.

That's fine - but it's the sort of thing you might want to mention in your post.  If you had pictures of a model it would probably have been obvious.  On that subject - how do you plan to model these characters?  It would help to visualise these characters if we knew what they were going to look like.

Also, Electron is a bit over-armoured.  Power armour is going to make him almost invulnerable to many weapons, even if he 'just' has carapace on some locations.  As I said, I'm not sure how you plan to model him - but in game terms a mix of flak and carapace probably works best.  Although as he's a Magos, I'd have been tempted to give him a conversion field or similar and then just robes plus the odd bit of armour on his bionics.

I assume Fearsome & Nerves of Steel are as a result of him being possessed.  He sounds like he's just going to look like a man in armour though, which doesn't sound too scary - if he's Fearsome then I suggest you have the daemon starting to manifest itself and warping Vulkan's body.

Kaled, these are characters that  am workng on for when i get the models and as for the armour query, i had got confused with flak carapace and power armours and the fearsome comes from the psychic presence of the daemon inside him, this effect is lessened in electron as he is constantly fighting the daemon inside while proteus was taken by suprise. Electron has had all his armour scaled down and i have given him a conversion field that only has 1D6 effect.

I realise that - I wasn't expecting you to suddenly produce photos of them.  I just wondered how you planned to build them - what parts you intended to use etc.  I think you said Johnson was going to be a conversion of Sgt Stone, but what about the others?

You might want to write some background for the daemon - it has a significant influence on your warband so it would be worth spending some time on it and effectively treating it as another character in it's own right, even though it only manifests itself through the others.

Greengo: Arco-Flagelent Body Simeon X38's left claw, Damien 1247's head and right whip
Johnson: Sgt Stone's body Slick's revolver, head, Simeon X38's right claw
Electron: D. Gruss's body, legs, breecher (with lucretia Bravus' stubber implanted with green stuff) Simeon X38's head, Damien 1247's left whip.
Proteus: Enforcer's body, S. Sheild, S. maul back shotgun, D.Gruss's head
Carter: Slick's body,stubber, Damien Bloodhound's shotgun, trophy rack, Eisenhorn's head

Mercenary gunslinger Markus "Druggie" Carter

Having lived most of his life in the depths of Hive Posieden on Ryza Secondus, Carter was engaged in several gang wars, illeagal drug dealing and addictions. By the age of 34 he was the biggest crime lord in the hive, so he fled the Ryza system after several atempts on his life, both by rival gangers and local Arbites Enforcers and hired out his services as a gunslinger and so lived the life of a bounty hunter. In the time scince his departure, he has become dependant on the drugs and stimms from the hive and these have had a great effect on his features and general demeanour. At the present time, he has been hired by the possesed Magos Volta Electron and serves hm in his daemon's foul schemes.

Equipment: Pump action combat shotgun with 3 reloads, 10 scatter shells, 5 inferno shells, 3 expanders and range finder, stubber with reload and 7 dum-dum shells, auto pistol with 4 reloads and 15 flechette rounds, flak armour on all locations except head, 1 gas genade with bloodfire toxin, 2 blind grenades, 1 frag grenade, Injector with 5 doses of barrage, 3 doses of 'slaught, 1 dose of spook and 2 doses of reflex, inhaler with 6 doses of psykon.

Special Abilities: wyrd-distracton, hipshooting, gunfighter, fast draw, quickload ???

Special Rules: Drug Addict

Expanders: 2D6 +2 damage with the effects of dum-dums and man stoppers.

Drug Addict: Due to his extensive drug use, if Carter goes for a full 5 turns without using a drug, he must take a Wp test, if passed he suffers withdrawral symtoms and adds D6 to his injury total, hif he fails he mus randomly administer a drug from his remaining stash following the table below.

   D10 result (if Carter has no more of the rolled drug left then increase or decrease the D10 score by the minimum number to reach a drug he as supplies of)
