I was thinking (oh no, not again), because I am unable to get to WHW for the considerable future, a conclave event in Aberdeen or Edinburgh might work out for people?

I've sort of thought about this idea in the past as well, not exactly sure how many active Scots we've got on the forums at the moment though. I can recall a few that haven't been around online in quite a while though, so who knows what there involvement is nowadays.

There's certainly yourself, VanHelser and me, but beyond that I forget...
It's all fun and games until someone shoots their own guy with a Graviton gun instead of the MASSIVE SPIDER.

I managed to run an event at GW Glasgow that attracted players from around the country (plus one guy from northern England) once upon a time.  That was 2004/5 I think... Anyhow,  the main difficulties a Conclave anywhere else from WHW will face is having: a purpose built gaming area with multiple tables (with the appropriate terrain); eating facilities on site; and toilet facilities.  These boring considerations can put a real limitation on things.  GW Glasgow was fortunately located for facilities (under Central Station), but I can't say the same for GWs or gaming clubs.  Also, finding a GW manager happy to let his gaming room belong to a bunch of Inquisitor players for a whole day is unlikely!  Village halls and the like are probably the best option for securing for a day, but there would be costs involved.

So, anyone wanting to run a Conclave would have to put in a serious amount of planning, thinking, terrain building and expense.  Even then, 12+ players would be needed to make it a decent day of gaming.  I'm not saying its impossible, but it's a serious commitment - a bit beyond me at the moment that's for sure!

Just chiming in as another North-O-the-border conclaver. I have a moderate-to-large collection of miniatures, and a handful of terrain, but space restrictions at home mean that I don't have quite as much terrain as I would probably like...

I live in Aberdeenshire, but I know from experience that specialist games are not allowed in the Aberdeen GW...

"I disagree, governor. I think I am giving you all of the respect that you are due..."
