Unfortunatly, even though I have had my eye on Inquisitor for a bit now, I just decided to start playing.  And through research, I've heard that playing in 54mm is the way to go.  Many have told me while I can certaintly play in 28mm, 54mm is how it was meant to play, and I do admit it seems more correct.  Plus, I am not the best modeller with 28mm, so I am a bit excited to my hands on some more detailed and wonderful models, and finally maybe display a little but of modelling creativity.

However, as I am sure everyone is aware, the specialist site has shrunk a significant amount, and while I do have some finances for the game, I am a college student with a lot of bills and can't go all out.

So, I was wondering if you experienced fellows could help me out.  I went through the Arcadian Smugglers Ring, and also read the article on this forum related to 54mm suppliers, but I just can't seem to find what I want; also, I'd rather mix and match bits to get a more personal model.  I do not just like buying a stock character and using him; I want to use my own character, and I don't want him to look like one of the stocks.

So any suggestions?  My first model I want to go for is my Inquisitor itself.  Although I love Adeptus Mechanicus and I love Rouge Traders and I love...well, everything 40k Universe...my love for the Eisenhorn and Ravenor trilogies assured I was going to go for an Ordos Xenos warband.

I'm still figuring out exactly what I want my character to look and be like, but generally I know I want a more secretive, radical Inquisitor with Psychic capabilities.  I don't want him to be all armoured him and packing a million weapons; I want a secretive man, swathed in dark robes, sitting in the shadows as he monitors his agents and minions crawl about the Hive he is operating in looking for traces of the next alien or heretic menace....you get the idea.

Is there any minituares anyone suggests I could start with, or maybe a combination of 2?  Right now I could afford to buy a complete model and some bitz, or buy two models and mash them together.  If I really liked the combo enough, I could even buy extra bitz for it, or go out on a limb and combine 3 models.  I'm not above using non-GW models, but I do want them to look like they came out of the 40k universe, not like they game out of X-Universe and landed in 40k.

I appreciate any and all help, as I am new and I fel once I get a model together, it will also be easier to write my background for the character and get a stable profile.

Thanks again!

p.s., I am new to the forums, and if I have comitted any error in creating this post, I apologize.

I recommend looking through this site:

http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Inquisitor_54mm

It has most of the models and upgrade kits that have existed over the years (though many are quite hard to track down). I often use the site to see what bits come in what kits and it can be good to look for interesting combos of kits to create a more individual model.

Off the top of my head, Inquisitor Scarn might be a good start for what you want, but he's OOP and hard to find, but I've found if you keep at it, you can come across most kits some way or other.

Good luck!

I know Abnett's got a vastly inflated reputation, but there's more to the Inquisition than what Eisenhorn and Ravenor get up to -- taking other sources into consideration as well will give you a broader picture.

Oh, and a Rouge Trader is a make-up merchant. :P

Everyone seems to want to start off with a psychic Radical. I really don't get this. I know Iain McDiarmid was good as Emperor Palpatine, but still...

In any case, I would not advise using Scarn because the model's nigh impossible to get hold of and is extremely monolithic (in that he came in three bits and one pose). Quite frankly, he'd look boring.

If I were in this position I'd probably start off with Malicant, because there's your robed look. I'd probably do an arm swap with Eisenhorn (unless you're able to convert him so he's holding a pistol two-handed, seeing as his arms come separately from his hands), and maybe use Eisenhorn's head as well (plus a Green Stuff hood if such a thing floats your boat).

If you can get the old Nagash model from GW, I find it to be pretty cool.  I have one but haven't used it yet.  There is a picture in the Core Rulebook of a radical Inquisitor modelled on the Nagash miniature.  Maybe it would work for you...
It may have all been a lie, but it keeps the masses quiet.

delending on your confidence, i'd go for Covenant's legs, Eisenhorn's torso, Malicant's head and arms (with greenstuff to make the robes meet). a bit likethis.
or it maybe worth ebay/ASMing for Eolith's The Count?

EDIT
Artemis Blacks maybe worth a try..
i make no apologies, i warned you my ability to roll ones was infectious...

Isn't Nagash a bit short? I'm not suggesting everyone's got to be a perfect 5'10" or whatever, but Nagash could probably benefit from a bit of bulking up around the waist so that he looks taller.

The reproduction rights were sold to War Griffon Miniatures, so it's not an OOP model - Dracula.
S.Sgt Silva Birgen: "Good evening, we're here from the Adeptus Defenestratus."
Captain L. Rollin: "Nonsense. Never heard of it."
Birgen: "Pick a window. I'll demonstrate".
