Alyster, I do use a simple press mould to copy a few GW parts, like the girls Lasgun and Stones head. However the rest of it is just sculpted. The girls torso whilst, yeah, does look like talons torso is completely scratch built with no mould work. AS for the Power armoured feet, the armour is just sculpted over covenants feet. The arms are sculpted over those alternative slick devlan arms. As for the moulds I use, I use INSTANT MOULD. Google it, there's loads of internet tutorials out there.  If you're after a specific tutorial I don't mind doing them :)

In that case my hat's off to you. The pieces looked so GW that I figured you must have modified existing parts somehow, but that's just some beautiful sculpting. Mostly I was excited to try some new short cuts, but alas, I'll just have to spend more time practicing :)

As far as the paint job, why don't you try dirtying up the boots and base a bit? You've obviously got the skills and it does look a little clean right now. Really beautiful paint and sculpt job. If you ever cast up any of your pieces I'd certainly be up for purchasing one (or two, or three).

To echo Heroka, I'm not really sure I'm in any position to offer critique of anything in the thread. A bit of weathering might do her good, but she looks very sharp as is!

Thanks guys!

Heroka, all advice is good mate! Anyway, I'm not a very good cook but I can still tell the mrs if something is edible/on fire or not - so all opinions matter!

Alyster,, Thanks man. To be fair, when it came to his power armoured boots I did copy a FW terminator which is probably what made you think I'd moulded it. Easy thing to do is to not bite off more than you can chew. do little steps at a time. When I did those boots I did the toes and the heel then left it to dry. Then went and did the main foot armour, again letting it dry before I did the leg armour. Then when that was dry I did the banding.

Right, I went back and added some minor damage to the Investigator and also some freehand on the Magos' robes.

AI'm also half way through painting up the next model. Well, I say half way. The skin and face is done.  EDIT: That face painted up pretty well (It's made form a press mould remember!)

That free hand has finished off the Magos nicely. And the white/black motif for the cog pattern, I am super impressed with how it has turned out - thematically a really neat idea.
Your press mold Stone has worked well too,  so much so that I may have to have a try myself sometime soon

it's strange, you think you've seen all the combinations of GW bits that work (and several that don't), then you go post this Stone conversion and I'm left thinking that I actually don't recall having seen that combination before and it's so obvious in hindsight - the perfect pit-slave model.
It's all fun and games until someone shoots their own guy with a Graviton gun instead of the MASSIVE SPIDER.

Cheers, I can't claim credit for it though as it was a blatant copy off the new Skitarii models! Press moulding is awesome but far trickier than it first appears. It took me about 3 attempts to get stones head right and even then the 'mould line' was fairly horrific - he lost all the metal studs on the top of his head for example.

Well, thanks! I actually got the idea from this picture. I don't know who did it but it's Necromunda Fan art from someone. I didn't go for the face plate because I just like the brutality of stones face. (although it was a Plan B if the mould didn't come out well!)

Redsunz2000

Lord Borak, this is fab. I would also request you mould Dixx. What a great sculpt and the paint job is simply awesome. I'd suggest you DO add the metal faceplate on the Stone conversion - the fan art picture makes him look like a nutter.

I really like the way that pitslave is going, and it gives me some inspiration on what to do with all the breacher arms I have lying around.

The extra details on the Magos are great additions and really round off the model. They are all superbly painted and the hazard stripes are a great unifying theme.

Top notch stuff all round.

I don't have a huge amount to add to the conversation (beyond repeating my compliments regarding your painting's clean yet natural colours, or copying other people's thoughts on your use of Stone as a pit fighter), but I am going to stick my head in so you know this stuff is not going unnoticed.

Hey guys sorry for the late reply. Not had anything to update the thread with so, well, just felt guilty lol. So here I am with an Update!

Firstly thank you for all the nice comments! Keep 'em coming because between them and the guilt of not updating this thread is all that's keeping me going! No one is really bothered about getting back into Inquisitor at my club so this is probably going to be more of a hobby enterprise now. Well, Untill next year when I can go to your INQGT :D

As for moulding Dixx. I honestly have no idea about how to mould anything. If I get around to sculpting another model I might drop G'Gav a line and see if we can cobble something between us. Once I get a few projects out of the way I don't mind doing requests.

Right, anyway I said I had an Update and an Update I have!

Here's Thrakk, one of the 4 Hydrak Brothers who will be appearing in a thread near you soon (ish). I went for a pretty dirty and grimmy feel to him. I added a few Imperial Tattoo's to hint at maybe a Guard/PDF background. Obviously prior to finding himself in an underhive gang and then ending up as a lobotomised Pit Slave.

I'm going to work on my Power Armoured Bounty Hunter next. I've made about 4 back packs and haven't been happy with any of them. Luckily I've actually discovered a pack back on a model that is actually what I was trying to build....... so that one is on Order!

Alyster Wick

Really, really nice paint job there. Your placement of chevrons and the faded/chipped red paint really jazz the piece up. Very subtle but effective use of blood splatter as well. All this stuff really helps bring out the personality in your pieces. Again, just fantastic stuff. I plan on stealing much of it.

Van Helser

Nice work with the tattoos - those details really bring what is already a fantastic model to life.

Holy emperor, you've done a splendid job of him! Just about the most brutal, effective conversion of the Stone figure I've seen yet. And just like Alyster pointed out, the chipped paint is very well executed!

Hey guys, apologise for not posting for ages. Spare time has been somewhat infrequent the last few weeks/months due to getting ready for my First born and raking in the overtime at work (84 hour weeks). Anyway, you don't care about that!! You just came here for some eye candy and toy soldier porn.

So, this is pretty much all I've been up to that's worth posting. This is R013130, a Battle servitor bodyguard for my Magos. This idea was a blatantly plagiarised from Wick's Praetorian (thanks for the idea!)

Scale shot

Still trying to come up with rules for this bad boy. The main Back story idea is that he's a lobotomised Acolyte who failed the Magos in some way (probably for breaking something important). I know it needs fleshing out but hey, I'll do that on the train to work. :D Right, I'm not going to promise to post more frequently because I can't but I'll at least try and get some painting done.
