Great conversion of sentinel pieces to create something original. If I had one criticism it would be that the lascannon looks to have a fixed arc of fire, and could do with a ball joint against the torso. However, I don't think I'd be able to do something like that myself!

It's not the rules section, I know, but my preference for bionics and mechanical components these days is generous armour but a more modest toughness (often, my characters will have a second BIV for their bionics)

This gives them a lot of ability to resist damage in the first place, but they don't cope with any actual damage so well (not having the same level of injury response and redundancy that evolution has given most creatures).

As far as whether he needs rules for his lobotomy... I don't know. If he has any degree of autonomy, I'd guess it'd be reasonable to play it by ear a lot.

Cheers guys. well I hope you you haven't waited too long for this :D This must be the fastest follow up update I've done in a bloody long time!! Quite happy with the Chevrons but I get the feeling it's a little bit 'clean'

Thanks for the advice Marco. Excuse my ignorance but what exactly is BIV?

Heroka Vendile

Looks great. Somethings have to be clean, otherwise how would you know anything else was dirty  ;)
It's all fun and games until someone shoots their own guy with a Graviton gun instead of the MASSIVE SPIDER.

Cheers mate!

I was thinking of adding some blood splatters to the sheers and maybe dirtying the feet up a bit. Yay/Nay?

Right, whilst we're pondering about that you can also ponder about what to do with this chap. This is Tech Acolyte Crassos who follows the Magos around like a lost puppy. Not sure what I want to do with the other arm. Either a Flesh and blood arm holding a pistol or a Mechanical arm with built in rotary cannon of some sort. Still working on the fluff for this chap.

Radu Lykan

I am always a bit wary of two arm replacements unless one of them is a full bionic arm and hand, it's a fingers thing. Fair enough if the flail is mechadendrites but if not how would he manipulate object if not? For this reason I say flesh arm

DapperAnarchist

I'm going to go against Radu, and say two mechanical arms, to reinforce the "puppy following around/complete servant" thing

On the other hand, I'll agree with him. I tend to avoid arm replacements on characters, because I always end up wondering how they'd dress themselves, make a sandwich or open doors.

I tend to make tools supplementary to hands, a suitable replacement for hands, modular (such that they can be replaced with multiple different tools, weapons or just fairly ordinary bionic hands), or a circumstance where its impracticality is either intentional (such as a penance) or irrelevant (a servitor).

Don't eat sandwiches, use an oiler grot - or a skull if you're a puritan....

I always choose the cool-factor when I don't have a set background for a character - and this pose doesn't say "everyday items" to me  ;)
Of course nobody knows if the right arm is a flail or a bunch of dendrites yet to be finished, so I just  tossed another one this way, heh

To weigh in on the hands, no hands, discussion, I'd say go with no hands. The idea of the wire-mass being used in some creepy way as substitutes for fingers is great. Whose to say that one couldn't become just as proficient (or perhaps more proficient) at any number of hand-related activities by using a strange mass of wires? That may have come out wrong, but I don't care, I'm tired and my point stands.

As for the robot, that is frustratingly good. I've had a piece on my table for a couple years that I've been wanting to put together that looks something like that (with more organic pieces). Rather than despair I'll just steal you ideas though. Hopefully mine will look half as good (whenever I get around to it).

Thanks for the advice/Ideas chaps. I ended up keeping the flesh and blood arm (sorry!). I reasoned that the guy is just an Acolyte, a new inductee into the Machine cult, so wouldn't be overly mechanoid. As fun as a 'Mr Tickle' would have been. Anyway, this is where I'm up to. What colour are Acolyte robes by the way? I as thinking white with a Red Cog boarder but I'm not convinced.

Alyster Wick,
Cheers mate. I was going to go with the whole 'Flesh torso wired into a machine thing' that you did so well but stopped myself at the last minute because I didn't want it to be too close to yours. Glad you like it though and, of course, steal away. It's only Fair ;)

Looking absolutely lovely as ever!

the only thing I'd comment on is the gun looks a little primative for a scion of MArs - maybe one of the new 28mm Mechanicus Skitarii weapons would fit better?

keep up the good work!

Lord Borak

Cheers mate. Maybe you're right about the gun but then he's going to be using Specialist ammo  :-\ Maybe that's good enough? Bit late anyway as it's all green

Ok, anyway, he's not finished but any progress is better than no progress! I've gone for a half white/Red robe to symbolise an Acolyte. no idea why I went for it it just seemed to fit. Not sure what to do with the tabbard though so any ideas would be welcome :D So, thoughts?

I think I might go for a blue effect on the cables as they're 'electro-flails'. Maybe.

Really nice clean paint job there. Your white cog pattern is vibrant and offers a nice contrast with the rest of the model. The chevrons as a theme fit wonderfully, this one is subtle and well executed. If I had to nit-pick, the skin looks too clean for a tech adept. I'd expect more discoloration or bruising from all the chemicals mixing with his body and all of the assorted mechanical bits bolted onto him. Your skin tones as they stand are beautiful, my criticism is purely on the basis of how the paint job contributes to the character of the model.

Also, if you're going with electro flail rules I'd go with some blue hue. You've got the skills, why not show them off? Lastly, the chunky revolver is great. One might think the mechanicus would have fancier tech, but the juxtaposition is quirky and adds character. Specialist ammo is helpful as well. Plus there has to be a faction of the mechancus that worships chunky technology with seldom breaks down and can be used as a club in a pinch.

Lord Borak

Ok, I had a crack at some glow effects on the electro-flail and I'm not 100% sure I pulled it off. I think it needs a final spot of white to really make it 'pop'. I'm also thinking of adding some purpley-blue veins on his arm to make him look sickly/full of chemicals but other than that, and some dirt on his robes, he's done. What do you think thus far?
