with the chance of a game of inquisitor possibly happening in the very near future i have begun work on converting a xanthite/oblationist type.
he might seem over powered for a normal pick up game but his foe is armed in a very similar fashion

the resin face didnt show up properly in the other pics
in a rush but he is basically into using chaos against itself but knows to do it himself would see him damned and his purity of cause turned against itself so he ropes other people in for the dirty work.

Lord Borak

Looking good. What are your plans for a colour scheme? Good use of Yarricks power claw :D

Looking forward to the mash up :D

Radu Lykan

My fluff has him a bit "holier than thou", though he treats with the ruinous powers and doesn't blink at sacrificing a hundred virgins he dons his spotless white and gold power armour to foster an image of purity
Something I am a bit stuck on though is the base.
His retinue if/when they get made will have matching bases that fit into a room with a marble tiled floor upon which hexagrammic/pentagrammic wards have been painted in blood.
White marble tiles would show up that blood something awesome but would possibly look weird with the White armour.
Any other suggestions for marbled tile temple flooring, currently thinking teal?

Lord Borak

Why not have him stood on a metal plate (imperial eagle) or some such. You could model it as the centre of the room. Hell, the hexagramic wards on the floor could all run into the middle of the room and pool around Magnire's feet. So, you could have him standing on a base covered in blood. Maybe with a grate to allow the filth to drain away?

Van Helser

Don't think I've seen Yarrick's claw on an Inquisitor figure before. It really fits well in size and style.

If you are going for white armour I would try and make the colour of the base contrasting. If you are thinking of marble tiles, you could go for dark marble, maybe green or black?

the base is going to be the last thing as am still procrastinating on it, was considering glowing runes in black tiles? not sure on doing the osl work required though.
due to the hatchet job i did removing the flayed skin and spikes on his thigh i have gone for a mark v power armour feel on the thigh, bulked it out and added the iconic molecular bonding studs. my fluff already had him appropriating the armour in a damaged state so this can be one of the repairs that was carries out.
with this bit out of the way he will hopefully be finished building soon

currently thinking a slight movement penalty or chance of malfunction to represent the dodgy repair job maybe with an extra point of armour to that leg?
currently thinking i might actually get him finished in time for the game :) is the red king worried Lord Borak? :)

Radu Lykan

A bit more work happened, turned the flesh/skin trophies into purity seals, got all the joints pinned and gaps filled, magnetised the head for a helmet swap at some point but the build on that isn't going so well.

And sprayed

Next I just need to learn how to paint white :)

Aurelius

Wow that undercoat has really brought everything together! I like the idea of the marble floor, I guess if you made it more of a cream color it could still contrast quite nicely with his stark white armour. Watching with interest

Radu Lykan

The pressure is off for a bit on magnire as a game of bfg ended up replacing the game of inquisitor, the clash of power armoured behemoths is merely delayed however and am sure magnire will be giving the red King a kicking at some point :)
the pressure is off but he is grabbing my attention more than the baneblade I am slowly working my way through and so have been blocking in some colours, still need to take the grey a few more shades closer to white but it's getting there

Currently trying to decide on hair colour, any thoughts?

Aurelius

A good start! I'd go for blonde hair if you are going for the typical 'Emperor' look?
If you don't mind me saying, I would black-line around all the gold, in order to clearly delineate the white armour and the metal pieces. I've found nuln oil with a bit of black paint flows really well into the cracks. I'd do it before you highlight the armour too much further. It will make everything 'pop' I think.

Ah BFG, another specialist game cruelly discarded by GW!

Lord Borak

Looking good Radu! I've actually just started painting my version of this model. I've gone for blonde hair on my chap and I think it would work on this model as well. You need some bright colours on there to liven the whole piece up. He's a bit monotone at the moment being all cool pastel colours. Some/lots of Blood splatters would be a good way to break up all that grey as well.

The Red King awaits........ ;)

RobSkib

Seconding the blonde 'holy' look - I love it so far! Had you considered perhaps a mockery halo behind his head?
An Inquisitor walks into a bar - he rolls D100 to see if he hits it.

Aurelius - don't worry, all my models get washed, will be more careful going over white but it will happen. Yep, bfg was/is great, if you can find an opponent. Met up with Lord borak and had a game, had forgotten how fantastic bfg is.
Lord Borak -cheers, once I have got the white up to a decent stage I will sort the gold and other metals properly, then I will make the decision on the hair. As you say, if all else fails he can go head first into a pot of tamiya clear red :)
That ellipses gives magnire a dire sense of forboding................... :)
Robskib - I recently discovered a proto halo on the head already in the form of a mold line that I missed. I have considered just going with it but don't want to detract from his banner nor make him too holy, will see how the mold line comes off the hair and go from there

Radu Lykan

been thinking about that iron halo and so I am having a see what the forums think

What looks better, with or without? Too over the top or is that what 40k is all about?

Aurelius

I'm going to have to say without. The spikey head, the torch - it conjures a statue of liberty for me...

That said, if it were mounted on his armour behind his head, rather than as a headband, I might be more conducive!

That said, paint job is looking cracking!
