Title: Gw Model Rarity?
Post by: Backyardpatrol on September 04, 2010, 11:14:30 PM
Anybody ever come up with a scale as to how "rare" the GW produced Inquistor models are? Say like on a scale from 1 to 10.
1 being everywhere in shops, like Quovandius or Covenant.
5 may be mail order only.
10 being the Imperial worker/citizens (I'm assuming they are pretty rare).
This scale would be based on how they were produced, not their rarity now.

Well, the GW website will make it clear which models are still available. Much of the range has been cut back. I've always found CCMwiki (http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Inquisitor_54mm) a useful resource. They also have a page for limited release (http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Inquisitor_54mm_-_Limited_Release) that might help you somewhat.

Is there a reason you want to put a number on their rarity? Or is it just out of curiousity?

Isn't every Inquisitor model now Mail Order Only, or OOP?

I'm trying to come up with a pattern in finding old models. The wiki has been indispensable.

Does anyone know at what point (date and with which model) the figures became mail order only?

Were retailers allowed to buy the mail order only models?

Believe it or not I've had success in cold calling shops and asking if they have any left over stock!

Not all GW stores carried them originally, smaller shops had the rulebook and the starter sets when the game first released (seems like a long time ago now!). I don't recall many of the Inquisitor models in any GW store really.

From what I understand retailers can buy specialist games stuff in but I believe they get it for the RRP not trade prices so its not profitable for them to do so unless they charge more than GW does. I'd imagine back when Inquisitor was launched that wouldn't have been the case but I've been told that's what GW is doing now.
