Hello guys.
I have a quick question regarding characters, I want too create an inquisitor plus his gang but on horseback...my inspiration is the death riders of Krieg, I thought too myself what better way too make a powerful human then make him sit on top of a genetically modified killer horse...
my main problem is the stats of the horse and how they would affect the rider for example the horse he rides should technically be even stronger then a space marine (it is a mutated cyborg killer horse) and how would skills work when on horseback for example the steady aim skill says I can walk and shoot without penalties...what if I am on horseback would the horse be allowed too run etc (its a lot easier too shot from a horse even when its at full speed then you running yourself)
thank you guys
Have you looked at the Witch Hunter rules? Pretty sure there are rules for steeds in there.
The problems I see are that a character can already run/sprint right the way across the board in one turn - mounting them on horses will only make that worse. And many scenarios require some sneaking around narrow alleyways, inside buildings and the like - not really possible with a horse (it's difficult enough with an ogryn). And you'll really need two versions of each character - one on foot and one mounted.
That all said, a mounted character/warband will look cool so go for it!
I think if everyone is going to be on horse back then I wouldnt worry too much about the offensive capabilities of the horse, more just there toughness and strength etc, just seems like it would be an unwieldy idea if once the riders dismounted they had an extra 3 attacking models. Similarly if the horse could rear and attack in combat with he rider on then it would give them a hefty advantage.
Really cool idea though, i would just keep the horses as horses to keep it simple, but would love to see them modelled. One of my characters has a mount which is made of a lizardmen mount, he's not on it but t is his only comapnion and carries all his spare equipment and can bite (but that cos its just the two of them!)

actually I am only going too have 1 main character its my inquisitor on a horse fallowed by packs of metal hounds so instead of using allies iam going too have pets....1 inquisitor on horse maybe 4 hounds, 2 eagles 3 servo skulls etc....maybe have 1 non combat unit too assist me.....
Are you going to have three models, mounted, on foot, and mount? Just wondering...
I should really explain how our games usually play,we use normal size models (warhammer normal size) this way I can use my space hulk and other various tabletop games environments (its perfect for my diner table lots of space).
we usually play a game of cat and mouse (i hunt them etc) they have 1 model each and they are on the run and they use the environment for their hiding and I try too capture them, the longer they go without being captured the more benefits they get i.e they find a weapon or activate a security system....me if i capture them I get some of their stuff etc...or info....alive is better then dead...also since they are all seperate units they can help each other and stab each others back.....
so i am going too have 1 model on horseback...1 base.....(sorta trying too figure out how too make a permannet rider so i cant loose my horse) a person suggested i make a centaur power armor (there was an imperial colony that had power armor resemble centaurs horus killed them but i could have a survivor)
That sounds like an interesting scenario, although I can't imagine wanting to play it as a usual thing. Maybe if everyone got to switch around and be the hunter, but being the hunted every time must get dull - especially as playing the same scenario over and over reduces opportunities for character development etc.
of Course it changes everyone gets a go - we have plenty of game ideas we play I just want a horse back character, I have read the witch hunter rules for horses but what do you think I should do too make it fair and make the horse more powerful if you read about deathriders their horses are genetically modified.....
my main reason too make a horse character is simply that I like the image of horseback warrior.

The best way to get ideas from other people is to come up with something yourself, post it and ask for comments.
