Title: ForgeWorld - new kit: Necron Tomb Stalker
Post by: Heroka Vendile on September 24, 2010, 01:13:21 PM
brand new set just unveiled by ForgeWorld in their email newsletter for the Necrons

QuoteDesigned by Will Hayes, the Tomb Stalker is a previously unseen type of Necron construct. This intricately detailed full resin kit can be constructed in a huge variety of dynamic positions as you can see in these images, and is supplied with a sprue of plastic necron green rods with which to complete construction.

Armed with potent Gauss weaponry and razor-edged talons, the Tomb Stalker adds a devastating mix of firepower and combat ability to a Necron army.

So yeah, this has great INQ potential. Be it as an archeotech construct, Dark Mechanicus, or just a straight up Necron beastie. And at £36, it's not an unreasonable price considering it's forgeworld.

tbh I wouldn't be surprised if this made it's way into the next Necron codex (currently estimated to be mid-late 2011) although like certain IG choices, would remain a Forgeworld product rather than getting a plastic version, unfortunately.

but yeah, as Robey says, it is a thing of beauty.

So . . . PRETTY . . .

I'm thinking a creation of a Magus Biologis working with a regular Enginseer to create a drone/servitor/slash spy-assassin-bot that behaves like a giant centipede, seeing as centipedes are wuite fast and deadly. Maybe good for a boss-NPC.

Mining robot gone rogue?

Or just a big trap, sans explanation.

Just out of interest... is there an ETA on an official release for this mini?

I mean... the rules that they've made for it in 40k really suck, but it has some nice Inquisitor and epic potential.

For Inquisitor, I'm thinking "tomb centipede" (tomb spyders for an obscure necron tomb. Perhaps for one of the missing C'tan... Or even a dead C'tan who was killed in the war in heaven, but his necron legions still linger on... just sititng, awaiting his orders that will never come....)

Looks great, and considering the alternative images, I'd say this one ist separated at every body segment.
(Which would also allow to add several of those beasties to a huge one)

Threadnomancy I know, but at least it's my own thread.

While looking into this model again & it's parts/posability, I came across this modelling post (http://forum.warhammer-forum.com/lofiversion/index.php?t157420.html), scroll half way down for photos of a complete breakdown of the model & it's instruction sheet.

Yep, I built and painted one for a client.  It's a complete sod to assemble if you want to add any drama to the pose!
