Evening,
Some of you who attended the Spring Conclave may remember Novia Fraal as being on of the 'contacts' whose support was fought over during the events that cumulated in Lord Calleia being declared head of the Carthaxian Conclave. I always liked the name, and the artwork on which she was based, so decided to build a model of the character.

As yet she has no warband, but I plan to build her a cyber-snake and maybe give her a couple of servo-skulls as well. Also, I'm not sure what her pistol should be. I thought the parts looked good together, but I've no idea what sort of weapon it is. I'll have a look through Marco's armoury, but in the mean time if anyone has any ideas then let me know...

An interesting pice very much like the pic in the book. If she is with the Sicarius dose that mean that she will have a body gloved killer tagging along with her?
What's the model based of Dave?

Perhaps, but probably nothing so obvious - my existing Ordo Sicarius warband already has an operative so when/if I build a warband for her it'll probably be something quite different.

She's a slightly converted vampire by Pizarro (http://www.pizarrominiaturas.com/tienda/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=17). The coat is far too long, and for a different character I would have cut it to a more normal length but I think it works well here.
EDIT: I've just realised I used my only remaining Severina/Sevora head on this model but it was supposed to be intended for another model who I'm reworking (I was never happy with my Callidus conversion so she's getting a new head and sword). If anyone has a spare head from either sister can they please get in contact. Thanks.
I have a spare head from the Twins, Dave. Email me.
R.
A kind person has already put a head in the post for me - but thanks for the offer.
I was going to start painting her over the weekend but couldn't decide on a colour scheme (and so started building the Tau instead). I may do her blue, similar to PO's sicarius operative, or possibly red. I've got enough black-clad assassins already so want to do something a bit different with her...
Dark green and greys? Assassin's only wear black because it's cool, they don't do it for practical reasons!
Her rank means she's not really a field operative any more - her garb is more for impressing other Inquisitors during Conclaves* and for looking dangerous rather than for wearing while carrying out assassinations - hence why I was thinking red or a bright blue.
* But don't make the mistake of thinking those weapons are just for show!
Looking good. Always liked that image as well.
Regarding the gun, you could always use the Archeotech rules from the SG Mechanicus article - where you select a psychic power for the gun, but roll against Sg instead of Wp whenever you fire it, but it's a risky action.
I had a read through Marco's armory yesterday and liked his rules for explosive needles so am now thinking it'll maybe be a six shot dart gun. Something accurate, with low initial damage but if the darts penetrate the target's armour they explode inside the target's body causing additional damage.
Why not go for a checked harlequin pattern of bright colours?
I seem to be incapable of taking a good photo, but she's finished...

I've also just about finished building the drones for my Tau warband and will post pics of them soon, but as I'm not in a position to start painting the Tau at the moment I'll instead be starting work on another project which I'll post shortly.
awesome work as ever!
i like the metallic effects on the armour and the crest. how did you paint that effect?
and the red clothes are really disturbing and sinister!
Lovely paint job on a really great conversion. The head is Sevora? That's some serious filing to get rid of all the detail and end up with a nice smooth mask!
Excellent work as usual Dave.
I also like the metallic effect (particularly the head dress - how did you do that on what looks to be a flat surface? Stippling?)
great stuff, I agree the stippling on the headdress has come out really well

Nothing too fancy - I simply painted it with Tin Bitz and then painted on some tiny squiggles with watered down Boltgun Metal then gave it a couple of washes. It probably sounds harder than it is - I didn't really care what the squiggles looked like, there's no pattern to them, so all you need is a nice fine brush.
Seeing models like this makes me wish I was in England and could actually attend the conclave meet ups.
All credit to your painting there Kaled, excellent job - for a minute I thought the metal effect might have been Hammerite (perhaps I do need glasses!).
Out of interest, has anyone tried using Hammerite on small (in this case very small) areas, I was wondering if the effect would be 'out of scale', i.e require a larger area to develop its finish?
Very cool conversion and excellent paint job. The metal effects are really awesome.
