Title: Icon Bearer
Post by: kierkegaard on January 16, 2011, 01:35:44 AM
Hello all,

I have been away for a while (stupid real life and tendinitis problem getting in the way,) but I'm back with a new model. He is an Icon Bearer for
Inquisitor Rach's (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/ratbag23/xavier1.jpg) retinue (which , so far, only includes the Inquisitor and his Sword Bearer (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/ratbag23/scabbard2.jpg).)

I hope you like him.

The base model is this (http://www.elviejodragon.com/asp-inc/vdpag002.asp?P1=CG&P2=CG139) Roman Tribune.

I have plans for many more models for Rach's retinue (a gun bearer, a scribe, a Sister Dialogus herald, and several combat oriented characters) which I will get to if my hand doesn't fall off first.

Hey Nick - good to see you back! :) Your models are always good, but that model is excellent. I love the concept and the execution is almost perfect - the right hand not properly grasping the icon is the only thing I can see that could have been improved.  The icon being chained to his collar is a very cool idea. He's very nicely painted too - the robes and the head of the icon especially.

EDIT: He'd look really good on a table at the IGT...  ;)

Excellent stuff as always. What I want to know though is where that excellent winged skull icon comes from??

Brilliant work. The hand holding the Icon staff seems a tad large. Great paint job 8)

Thanks for the compliments guys. I'm glad that you like it.

The right hand is a bit off, but it (Damien Bloodhound's hand) was the only one I could find that would do the trick. I agree that it is slightly larger than the left hand and doesn't grip the staff.  The staff is stuck into the ground though, so it is only resting against the hand ;)

The icon was built around this Terminator Icon (http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=21_27_62&products_id=947), these Dark Angel helmet wings (http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=21_283_284_117&products_id=1619), and this SM Commander halo. (http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=21_27_85&products_id=127) The Inquisitor =I= in the middle is a Forge World brass etch piece.

The painting is incredibly simple, owing to my ruined left hand not being ale to do much of anything. Apart from the metal, the purity seal, and the black on the eye and eyebrow, everything was done with foundation paints and washes. The robe is Dheneb Stone washed with Gryphonne Sepia, the sash is Mechrite Red washed with Devlan Mud, the shoes are Calthan Brown washed with Devlan Mud, and the skin is Talarn Flesh washed with Ogryn Flesh Wash. It was a piece of cake, really.

Amazing, really cool conversion. That is one bad-ass warband. Hope your hand gets better.

Lovely concept really cleverly executed. Painted by Kierkegaard AND part of one of my all time favourite miniatures' warbands? my eyes must be deceiving me.

Great stuff as ever. Such original compositions :D

Hope your hand gets better.

Thanks for the sentiment, but it seems to have become a chronic problem.  :(

Thanks for the compliments too.
