As much as I like the use of old cool models in inquisitor, I do think all the soldier based models need 40kyifying with shoulder pads and Las guns and such, but a good starting point!

What's the second model under your inquisitor by the way?

I didn't want to 40Kify them as Velterax is quite primitive (B.A. rifles, SMGs few modern stubber weapons) and also has low contact with the Imperium except for tithes. The little guy is Hamish, a "dwarfish" psyker mentioned in the haemunculus thread.

Shannow is right, they need 40k-ifying. It's fine to take models from any source and use them in Inqusitor but they need to be converted to fit the 40k universe - these just look like painted toy soldiers. They're also covered in horrible mould lines.

It wouldn't be too difficult to clean them up, add some shoulder pads and aquilas and do a good job of them - even if you want to keep their weapons pretty primitive there's still a lot you could do to make them fit into Inquisitor but as it is they don't really work IMHO. Sorry.

EDIT: That pointing sergeant could look really cool with some shoulder pads and a slung lasgun...

There should still be nods to 40k's gothic style (and primitive still has a fair number of opportunities to add 40k-ification), else they'll not look like they belong. You don't have to go to anything like the lengths I've been going to, but you should always go to efforts to make your models fit in with the ethos and design.

I admit, heavy reworking of this kind of one piece cast is a pig, but simply adding auspexes/weapons/shoulder pads will do a lot for relatively little work. I only went totally nuts sculpting flak armour because I needed a way to cover the cutting scars from deciding that I didn't want Sgt. Pointy to have binoculars - after all, what self respecting Imperial Guard sergeant stands about gesturing?

However, while I recommend making your models fit the ethos, I really do think you'd be better served looking for some higher quality models to start off from. These models are old and cheap toys intended for kids to buy, break/lose, then be forgotten, and don't even hit the mediocre quality of the Airfix range.

Marco, I am adding GS shoulder pads to the fireing side only. The serge has been given a lasSMG as the people of velterax hold high ROF as better than accuracy. Also only very few soldiers below SGT have las weapons, fire team leaders tend to have SMGs, shotguns and machine pistols.

That would be fine, if it had actually been converted to look like a lasweapon.

Right now, if I were to bet that when you showed that to someone, they wouldn't think it was a lasgun... my money would probably be safe. It hasn't got the muzzle, it hasn't got the magazine, it hasn't got anything really to make it look the part.

If you don't want to do any real conversion work, then I'll live with it, but you'll have to live with WYSIWYG.

Marco, you missunderstood me. the first moddeling I did after your comment was to make him a las weapon. It is a piece of plastic rod with a las barrel on the end, glued onto a stump left where I removed the SMG barrel and magazine. A bit later I realised I should add a power pack which I did.
The rules are (using your revised armoury) Millitary magazine, std muzzle, carbine barrel, 18 mthle chamber, necromunda generator, std frame, skeleton stock

Couldn't you do a similar thing to the other weapons? Maybe use 28mm marine, ork, IG etc weapons and bits of weapons to 40k-ify their guns?

I'll echo the words of those above, it's a good start, but they do need a bit of work. That chap on the floor is crying out to have his.. twiglet.. replaced with a 40k weapon - Ork weapons make great 'ragtag' 54mm weapons! Maybe he could be part of a heavy weapon team, and you could convert a loader for him.

Oh yes, and as Kaled mentioned, you might want to see to some of those mould lines. The guy on the far right in fire team 1, for example, looks like he's going to need serious plastic surgery to stop him looking like someone sat on him too hard... Now would be a good time to practise your sculpting! it's not hard, you just need a bit of practise, and anything would improve these models, even if it was just bulking them out a bit or bringing out the details.

Plus, if it goes wrong and starts to look like a mutant, blame it on Chaos! The warp can do terrible, terrible things to a man...

By the way, the guy that looked funny probably did so because of the camera angle.

To be honest, that sounds over complicated. If you want to use that many models without slowing down the game, you'll need to use a simplified ruleset (like the Architecture of Hate rules).

I do, Most of the time, but I want to be able to use especialy heroic individuals (like the sgt) in other games.

More work has been done. The serge has been given a high caliber stub pistol

That's looking cool - the greenstuff needs tidying up but once that's done it should be great.

I like the design, I think I'll remember it for stealing at a later date.
