Title: Privateer Press - Celestial Fulcrum
Post by: Heroka Vendile on March 28, 2011, 02:14:02 AM

Whilst there isn't much to report on yet, this is the official artwork of a Circle of Orboros Celestial Fulcrum for the Hordes range by Privateer Press.

The important thing to note however is that, if the Hordes range of Battle Engines (of which this is the first) are anything like the size of the recent Warmachine Battle Engines, then this gizomo will be on a base anywhere between 70-160mm. And any scale on that range makes it a very useful bit of kit for Inqusitor e.g. an instant alien generator or warp-portal-thingy-ma-whats-it.

I'd  be more tempted to use it as something active in itself -  an alien AI, or perhaps even a very odd looking Tzeentch daemon.

I would probably use it as some sort of alien device. The large orb would house the main being while the two smaller ones would contain it's offspring which, when fully grown will split off and form a new one.

Mini update

All the battle engines for Warmachine and Hordes are in fact on 120mm bases. And having seen the official shots of the Khador (boring tank chariot), Scyra & Cryx - and glimpse of the Cygnar one in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9BVwskAPxw) at the 8 minute mark - they are really really damn big. Cygnar one has to be at least 150mm tall by my estimation.

for example:

Retribution

Also PP put up what was the initial blocking out of the scale for the Celestial Fulcrum - not a whole lot to look at, but that is the 120mm bas it's sat on:

It may well be some months before this and the other Hordes Battle Engines arrive though, as the Warmachine ones aren't even slated for release until summer, and they've been floating around the web since new year.

A perfect monster, a tentacle pillar with someone on top, I wonder how big it will become.

well comparing sketches for the Warmachine Battle Engines to the finished models, I'd say that this Everblight one will probably come in at around 120mm? (no including mounted spellcaster)

I agree, based on Privateer being 30mm - and the tower is nearly exactly 4 times the sorceress's height, in the sketch. Which looks more like a post-sculpting teaser than a designers sketch, compare to Jes's work, and he matches the model to the sketch very very closely...

Cygnar is now in on the act with their Storm Strider - an interesting source of mechanical and generator bits I would think.

'When Discoballs Go Bad'

I foresee gratuitous use of the Shock weapons special rule for that guy :P

With Warmachine Wrath done and Hordes Dominion expansion on it's way, photos of the Fulcrum surfaced:
