Title: Development of Inquisitor X (formerly a question about Covenant)
Post by: Necris on April 13, 2011, 12:20:25 PM
I have a question about the Covenant mini,

How easy is it to reposition the arms, I want him wielding a pistol and combat weapons but I want him aiming the pistol with the weapon held by his side or behind him.

Is it easy to repose the arms of should I just pin the lower arms and just GS some new upper arms.

Opinions and photos of any reposed Covenants would be welcome,

also how for any one that's done it how much of his shoulders need repairing after you cut his current shoulders away.

ah the joys of making birthday presents to force people into playing 54mm Inquisitor  ;D

difficult to repose them. They're quite short to be honest due to the posing of the stock mini holding his two hander.

Here are my Covenants:

Halaker

The second mini had one arm resculpted except the gloves. It wasn't too difficult at all. Should be easy to do what you suggest.

hope that helps.

here's how i did one for a friend of mine; Covenant's top part with slicks' bottom half, but covenants should fit fine i think...

The torso is very versatile and the shoulders can be made into many different things. This guy (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/ratbag23/InterrogatorVorn1.jpg) has had pretty much all of the psycannon mount and webbing removed to allow the Bodyguard shoulder pads to fit. This guy (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/ratbag23/SpecialOperative1.jpg) has just had the webbing and psycannon mount filed down into a curved shape.

I hope that this is helpful to you.

Is that a Grey Knight Terminator weapon? That seems to fit pretty well...

Its actually a grey knight space marine sword the terminator ones are thicker and longer (which I'm using on X's interrogator)

They both look good so far.

I like the GK sword, but a revolver just seems a little low-tech for an AdMech character. Still, maybe it's a cunning piece of misdirection, and it's actually some sort of super weapon...

What are you planning to arm the Covenant conversion with, and what head are you going to use?

The way I read it was that it wasn't an AdMech character, but he was using it as a savant model.

Marco's right if he recalls the exterminatus comic I was passing around at the IGT I'm basing the tech priestess on the Savant pascal within those pages

As for X I am planning to give him a hefty bolt pistol (I've only ever made one character with a bolt weapon) and in a break for my normal sword wielding masses I'm giving him a daemon hammer

as for the head I'm not sure yet, I'll have to dig around in my bits box and see if I can find an angry face

Cherubael's head is nice and shouty - file the horns off and you've got a nice head for use.

I think I have a Cherubael head kicking around too

If you have a Cherubael head with horns attached do you fancy trading for one that's had them removed? It'd save me sculpting them back on...

And another update for you all

I'll see if I can find my Cherubael head (it might have a crappy paint job) for you Dave

Oooh, Love the Daemonhammer. It looks awesome and much more realistically sized in Inquisitor scale. The metal high-collar is a very nice touch too. Kinda hard to tell with the pics, but your sculpting work looks very smooth and clean, I'll bet once it's painted you won't even be able to tell where the metal ends and the green stuff begins.

Post by: Necris on April 21, 2011, 10:20:12 AM
Thanks, it's not overly smooth but smooth enough considering I'm planning on adding shoulder guards to his arms and possibly some armoured plates to his upper arms,

the daemon hammer is from the grey knight terminator kit and I must say I am fairly happy with the set, the hands are a brilliant size for inquisitor (in fact they are slightly bigger than covenants original hands) and look good, I had to bulk up the cuff of his arms a little to make the fit a bit better but nothing major.

Just need the head now, I found a stone head I had lying around I may have a go a removing some of the excessive surgical staples and see what he looks like

Looking good Tony! I'd say stone's head will be a bit on the large side but should work.

I used Stone's head on Covenant's torso for my Inquisitorial Stormtrooper with a bolter & chainsword. Take a look, but I think it fit okay.

The posing of this model is very cool indeed. The hammer works well, also: I think this model looks fab.

Ok another day another question

I've been considering the head of Inquisitor X

Now is this ok or do I need to drop the head a little place the chin under the gorget/bevor of his armour?

I'm planning on sculpting some hair onto him (can't be doing with baldness)

Also for all you sculptors out there whats the best way to make shoulder guards?

That looks great!  The hair and shoulder pads are excellent additions that really give this model a character of its own.

Very reminiscent of the warhammer Warrior priests, in a very good way, feels like a 28mm 40kification of them, but with the awesome of 54mm, and is very nicely done.

Really lovely, this is a great model. I also particularly like how adding hair has completely changed Stone's head. Good work!

Same here.

I've got two of the things around, so it's a bit of a shame that the GW heads are mostly too big for my modelling style.

You already anticipated my next question, anyway, I think they fit very well with the model.

Really starting to develop a personality this model.  Could use the services of a hairdresser, but that's part of his vibe.

Love it so far, I agree the hair change the model completely and I like it.

Nice use of the terminator parts, might have to get myself some  ;)
