Title: Greetings!
Post by: Consulaire on May 17, 2011, 01:41:11 PM
Howdy all,

Was guided this way by Kaled on the Warhammer Forum.

Used to play the GW games in the past, going back 15 years or so.  I pretty much finished just as they released Inquisitor so never got to play it, I did however love reading Dan Abnett's Eisenhorn and Ravenor series of novels.

From what I have gathered reading these boards its a narrative based game rather than a totally competitive points based conflict.  Being a former AD&D player way back in the day I can appreciate a good Narrative!

I live near sunny Glasgow so I'm interested in finding a few like minded players or someone who can show me the ropes so I can delve a little deeper into this remarkable game.  Until then I shall continue to lurk and absorb all your knowledge!

Welcome! (I'm on my phone so I'll let someone else do the traditional big yellow welcome.)

If you haven't already, I suggest you read through the FAQs linked to in the top toolbar, and maybe read some of the battle reports in issues of Dark Magenta - that should give you a good idea of what the game is about.

Do you have plans for models/warbands? I'm sure we'd all like to hear them. Also, and I realise it's short notice, you'd be welcome to join us at the Summer Conclave. I'm sure some kind soul will lend you a character or two if you don't have time to finish your warband.

Current Ideas for the budding warband are -

Main Protagonist - Justarious Nethanial Leopold De'Banzar

Younger brother to governor Arte-amis De'Banzar of the temperate planet Goldair.  Due to the unique mineral properties on Goldair the planet, and primarily House De'Banzar, supplies arms and equipment in a huge mass to the Imperial armies and governments of the surrounding Segmentum.  Being the younger brother and not likely to inherit his fathers fortune Justarious fell of the rails at an early age, dissapearing for months to years at a time, squandering his share of the family fortunes.  After a decade with no contact he suddenly returned one evening to his familial palace on Goldair, seemingly a changed man.  He asked his brothers forgiveness and has since spent his time as a trade envoy and negotiator for the families arms dealing since his fathers death and his brother has assumed the mantle of planetary governor.

During his decade of absence Justarious encountered 'Phabe', a slightly mysterious, elderly gentleman who seemed to peer into his soul, see his desires for power and his bitterness at missing his brothers position by dint of birth alone.  Phabe seemed to have a vast knowledge of space beyond the borders of the Imperium, what wonders and treasures it holds..  Prior to meeting Phabe, Justarious had spent the previous 9 years as an aspiring member of a seperatist sect of the Death Cult, gleaning his skills with the naked blade and his own body as a weapon.  Seeing the opportunities presented by Phabe, he abandoned his place in the cult without warning, assuming the fake identity he had given them would be enough to keep them from ever discovering where he went.. He was over a sector away from his homestead, so they would never find him... right?

By day Justarious is a servant of his house and familial obligations, trading arms to the major imperial forces within the segmentum.. By night he conducts his search, with his mentor Phabe, and his extraordinary knowledge of the hidden corners of the galaxy..  He conducts meetings with the enemies of the imperium, trades them arms and information to pursue his goals of finding the real weapons.. the real power in the galaxy.  Wealth is already nothing to him, he trades in billions of units each year aboth officially and unofficially in pursuing his goal..  He already posesses a suit of fine mesh armour, gilded to form fit his skin under his ceremonial robes, believed to have origins from the Dark Eldar..  His skills with the Death Cult have never left him and he practises constantly, always wanting to perfect his art.

Companion one - Phabes

Phabes is an elderly Archeaxenon, with information that no member of the Imperium would ever admit to holding within his mind.  He has a strange way of knowing the cults, contacts and historical significance of the worlds they cross..  He is very persuasive, and for a frail old man very few will hold his gaze for long..

Companion Two -  Lander McTaig

Although the House guard of the De'Bannzar number in the thousands, Justarious has every reason to hide his true intentions from the household.  His only other trusted companion id Lander McTaig, formerly a Lieutenant in the house guard and his old defence mentor when he was younger.  Disgraced by Justarious' father for his drinking and whoring he was dis-honorably discharged from Service.. Much to Arte-amis' dissproval Justarious has returned him to service as his bodyguard, aslong as he stops his drinking!

Lander is a Veteran from the Imperial Guard Unit the 75th Goldair Rhino's prior to his indenture in the household guard and has a steady eye and a cast iron constitution.

They search the stars looking for its treasures, hidden and forbidden alike.

Don't have time to read now, but best if you put these in the Inquisitor rules discussion thread for people to read, you'll get much more advice and such and thats where they're suposed to go :)

Will have a gander when I'm  not revising (ish)!
