sorry if this has been posted before, but are there any good sources for "pretty" female heads, that dont look a bit weird?
im looking at all the GW ones and they all seem pretty harsh and stern looking. any pretty female heads in 54mm that can be recomended?

I've used a couple of these on my models. There's five heads in the pack, two are young the rest are older.

This isn't too difficult to fix in some cases. The Daemonhuntress at least can have her eyebrows filed back quite easily, which, once repainted in a less furrowed manner, doesn't look like she's quite so stroppy with everyone in the universe.
Would anyone know if there are bald female heads on the market? Or with a punk mohawk?
It'd be easy to file the hair off one of the resin Historex heads, then you could add a mohawk using greenstuff...
It depends what model you want the head for.
These (http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxproductdetail.php?ProductCode=HH/10) work well size-wise on the Severina/Sevora and Sister Repentia models, while these (http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxproductdetail.php?ProductCode=30373) work well on Barbaretta and the Deamon Huntress (and other manufacturer's 54mm scale models.) Of the heads with hair/hats, there are at least two that could have the hair removed, but I really don't suggest filing resin (fine toxic particles = respiratory problems.)

I'm going to be honest, those are not exactly the most feminine heads I've seen in my life. Not that I'm saying I could do better - and I'm sure the right paintjob would help - but they're just not quite right.
To be fair, that probably shows how realistic they are. I recall a website (that I haven't been able to find since) that had monochrome 3D scans of celebrity faces. Without the makeup, hairdos, 5 o'clock shadows etc. etc. it was a little tricky to tell between some men and women.
True, quite a lot of the perceived difference in faces is down to our preconceptions of hairstyles, makeup, facial hair (or lack thereof) and to an extent, things like the neck and shoulders. (I know I rely on this for a lot of my models!)
It doesn't take much to mess with our assumptions - there are many completely convincing cross-dressers with little more than a new hairdo and some makeup that prove that point.
However, on this scale, you seldom look at the models from a scale distance of less than about 10 metres (at an absolute minimum, I can focus down to maybe a scale 3 metres, but I've got above average eyesight and still need glasses for that), so a degree of exaggeration helps.
Particularly if you're the kind of person who, like me, prefers their characters don't have huge knockers.
I actually own the heads, and I can say that the photo doesn't do them justice. They are plenty feminine looking for most people's taste, without being at all caricature-ish.
Thx!!! Seems the Historex ones are appropriate then as I'm looking to convert the Daemon Huntress. Haven't got much faith in my sculpting skills _ normaly conversion means cut & paste existing stuff & filling gaps to me _ but I might try my hand at a punky mohawk.
Seems like a good opportunity for you to learn to sculpt - it's not as difficult as it first appears, but it can be quite daunting and does take practice. Even if it does go wrong the first time (and chances are that it will, because it does for almost everyone), you can easily remove the greenstuff and try again.
As pointed out earlier in the thread, do take precautions (you can pick up a dust mask pretty cheaply) when filing the Historex heads as resin can be hazardous.
