Hello
Having been inspired by the increase of Inq28 threads and the discovery of some of my old witch hunter and daemon hunter minis I rekindled a long lost project with a new twist and having the time to relax and immerse in hobby is something I'm relishing, and so I present
Inquisitor Maxim Slade
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-J1MKgXps5N8/TsLtvoJVgbI/AAAAAAAAACk/NgZ_CHIWMNY/s1600/DSCF0159.JPG)
and Retinue
Him on his own
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-LogpuP1jZjQ/TsLvHi8iyCI/AAAAAAAAAC8/__1cKmXyFR0/s1600/DSCF0171.JPG)
And two of his right hand goons Samson and Cassidy
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8V_XF9rOx_c/TsLuMu2Zk1I/AAAAAAAAACs/PsM-rIh-1t0/s1600/DSCF0167.JPG)
These are from when Witchhunters first came out and for a long while Slade living in my Inquisitor Case coming along to events as a little luck charm
Now I'm sure many of you are aware of the Pimp My Wizard over on dakka dakka I had intended to enter but an utter fail in time management between work, newborn and life meant that life got put on hold and I failed to complete the challenge but now I have completed 2 and I present them for your pleasure
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-bDzJ1bhudNE/TsLvjrX9mWI/AAAAAAAAADE/b6P_dlYNJfs/s1600/DSCF0172.JPG)
Really like the second Pimp my wizard entry. Reminiscent of PDH's work, but still some nice ideas I'll probably pilfer. Really do need to look at picking up an empire wizard kit.
I hold my hands up and confess to being inspired by PHD's entry
I'm very much liking those "wizard" conversions Necris.
I just hope the wizard dosn't look to cluttered when finished. I think the paint job will really make a difference, but it's chest looks overcrowded right now.
Isn't that the essence of 40K over crowded utterly impractical armour decoration?
And huge shoulderpads and big boots. Don't forget those.
Yes I'd almost forgotten the shoulder pads and boots especially on the women
Anyway another update and bulk of photos for you to enjoy
I present the hordes
First up are some fanatics with eviscerators (and big mace)
And some well armed cultists to ensure they get into combat
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9o_Wt7heKWM/TsPUecJygsI/AAAAAAAAAD8/YIoVprCB_N4/s1600/DSCF0181.JPG)
Alll of the above are as you can probably tell made from Flagellants and Catachan parts
Next I've got the start of an Inquisitional Cleaner Team made from Sniper Scouts, I cut their long-las' down to make them into Hellguns and intend to add some assault members and support members
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-62JxDNvmbyM/TsPXKCKoOzI/AAAAAAAAAEs/88QMm68N8ug/s1600/DSCF0187.JPG)
And now from using the Catachan's before I had all their bodies left over I used some Kroot to make a band of Muties to aid my traitor guards, first up is the pack leader
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w8SVxXcQwI8/TsPZYBN_wAI/AAAAAAAAAFU/8KvWQrnVlkM/s1600/DSCF0192.JPG)
And his Pack
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7ut4ozipxMM/TsPYhMHZRsI/AAAAAAAAAFE/XHDVcAMRI94/s1600/DSCF0190.JPG)
Finally an Inquisitors Acolyte and data savant
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u7PlGkOtMJo/TsPZ3W3J5mI/AAAAAAAAAFc/0sDDh4okVtU/s1600/DSCF0193.JPG)
Nice. Nothing says deranged cultist quite like flaggellent parts. Good mismatch of guns too.
Liking the acolyte. Theres a model with an attitude.
Ok for this installment I'm bringing you some agents of death, For a long time I've been developing the Guild of Night a death cult that is tied to the service of the Order of the Iron Rose, Inquisitor Altus has the honour of calling himself the Guild Master and surrounding him as his inner cabal are the Unus Quisnam est Nex most prominent of these are the figures known as Inquisitor Pavor Vepres and Operative Slade.
The Guild itself is broken up into 4 castes each specialising in in a particular form of battle first us are two members of the Macto Caste
Unus Quisnam Insisto Dico of Macto - Nijin
(http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8gkOhyw3VX8/Ts-J1NEoXpI/AAAAAAAAAJM/X5Yeol6sQ2U/s1600/DSCF0310.JPG)
And a Female of the Macto Caste
Unus Quisnam Insisto Dico of Macto - Sleyik
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4oJsHBjHgiM/Ts-KjKutwMI/AAAAAAAAAJc/31qBQS_fCfM/s1600/DSCF0312.JPG)
And a member of the Occisor Caste
Unus Quisnam Insisto Dico of Occisor - Gladi
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-atgMXvkdNzM/Ts-LPwlJTBI/AAAAAAAAAJs/HwE2XDKvHM8/s1600/DSCF0314.JPG)
There are still two more Castes to construct and I'm presently working on their miniatures these are for the Venator and Era Caste's
I'll add more details of each caste once I've built the other models
Enjoy
Personally I think you need to do more with them to stop them just looking like Dark Eldar carrying different weapons. Removing some of the icons would be a start and putting in new ones. Resculpting of the armour as well.
I should have mentioned that these were WIP the female needs to have GS hair which I'm planning to make very long and flowing,
The other two are going to get some treatment with some liquid GS to fill in some of the details and make them smoother.
Also all their backs have been trimmed down and are waiting to be filled in too
I'm also waiting for some weapons and bits to come from bitzbox to add to them to make them more imperial
I got the inspiration from someone's sister's of silence army
Echoing Keravin's comments above, I think you're on the verge of slipping into the 'dark side' of INQ28. I personally have never started a 28mm INQ warband, as I've always found that even though there is a larger range to work with, converting them to make them unique is (for me anyway) much harder at that scale.
I will reserve judgement for the newer models as you have already said you will do some work on them to make them stand out, but I'm just a little concerned that you might be opting for 'quantity' rather than 'quality' models.
The two 'wizard' models are exceptional, however - I'm a massive fan of them! In my opinion, they are much more worthy of the 'Inquisitor' title than your current Inquisitor model is. Forgive me for saying so, but the Gideon Lorr model is hideously overused, and his henchmen are little more than.. well.. henchmen, picked straight from the Necromunda line!
More models like those two wizards please, they are ace!
As I said Maxim Slade is an old warband while I like the mini and how it turned out I agree the male witch hunters are wide spread across the many incarnations of Inquisitor and 40K
I know I didn't mention here because of the nature of it but I'm working on these inquisitors are a much larger project to create a grand inquisitional army made up of lots of retinues led by Inquisitors and the cultists and mutants are part of a large traitor guard army I'm working on as well as being NPC's in Inq 28 games.
Thanks for the comments on the wizards I'm considering giving one a very puritan crusading retinue and the other a twisted radical warband making them the direct opposites of one another
New Year and some New Models
First of all I've had a rather unproductive Christmas I only managed to bag myself 1 box of minis which was a little disappointing but never the less I think I've managed to scrape together some older minis previously condemned to the eternal bitz box.
So first up I present
Silas Handthorp
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ERRcxdOEQZM/TxM3w6arsNI/AAAAAAAAAaI/enkfFwjOcuw/s1600/DSCF0226.JPG)
I'm not sure if I originally wanted him to be a gunslinger but I think he is a little too flamboyant for that so I've promoted him to rouge trader, equipped with a las pistol and I was thinking powerfist or some form of exotic claw weapon maybe an agoniser or some such.
Following Handthorp come
Ygor
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cWc3N9OxSe8/TxM5Pd1AhAI/AAAAAAAAAao/mY2do4-HCOg/s1600/DSCF0230.JPG)
A mutie sworn to Inquisitor Amos Diaz attempts to emulate his master where ever possible (He has a hammer on his back) and the "shield" which will have some derogatory text about muties daubed across it.
With Ygor comes
Cardinal Synge
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RBqXe_pqdso/TxM5nv57ZGI/AAAAAAAAAaw/KC3M-lYDS0E/s1600/DSCF0231.JPG)
with nought but his holy crosius he strides into battle in the emperors name, I'm not a fan of how his legs turned out I may have to cut his feet off and try them again, his waist is annoying me also I think it needs more but I can't think what.
And now for something big
this is just thrown in here because it's what has been occpying most of my time, I highly doubt he'll ever enter into a game of inquisitor but if he did I think he would automatically get the Fearsome rule
(http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k-qRhHqsPkI/TxM6Y1XfsfI/AAAAAAAAAbA/HKtyZVztoRU/s1600/DSCF0233.JPG)
After all just look at the size of him...
On to something more elegant
Mistress Anna
(http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8iODHwTezAU/TxM6AKkXYtI/AAAAAAAAAa4/J6DKTVaFpo4/s1600/DSCF0232.JPG)
Again I'm not sure if I should have her as a Rouge trader or something else if truth be told I want to swap her sword for something else but the arm is so flimsy that I'd have to swap the whole thing out which I'm not overly keen on.
And finally some group shots
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ozyozgVtUNM/TxM80TEVygI/AAAAAAAAAbw/AQ_g3p2ihrM/s1600/DSCF0239.JPG)
Ah, those wealthy make-up salesmen and their nefarious nemeses.
The Cardinal could perhaps have a Rosarius or a Chaplet Ecclesiasticus (not sure if only Sisters carry specifically this, but there's at least got to be other equivalents) hanging from his waist to add something.
As far as his feet, I'm not sure they would need to be showing at all. Just widen the brim of his robe a little and they'd be plausibly hidden.
Love the Marine, I've got to say - that's what they should look like.
And personally, I give all Marines fearsome, because if a legendary seven foot tall religiously indoctrinated superhuman in half a tonne of powered armour and wielding a fully automatic RPG launcher isn't properly scary, I don't know what is.
Thats a good Idea Marco I'll see what's kicking round in my bits box I need to get more green stuff I seemed to have gone through an awful lot recently without much evidence of it being used but I'll consider widening the robe
The models are marvelous. Which model is Anna based on?
Dark Eldar Lhamaean (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440231a&prodId=prod1320006a)
Heres a quick question does anyone know where i can get kreig bitz from bitzbox doesn't stock so is there anywhere else?
Well, I've just gone and scoured all the bigger bitz sites/sellers... with no luck I'm afraid. Depending on what you need, you might be able to find a complete model or two going cheap on ebay, but it doesn't seem bitz resellers want much to do with them.
There are some gems amongst your models, Necris!
Cheers molotov coming from the king of inq28 that means alotg
I'd like to add that its all your fault
