I'm here in this dark passage of the underhive leaning against the wall where i was thrown unable to move since my lower body is mangled. Can't feel the pain anymore the nerve endings have been destroyed due to the plasma burn. Where the feth did that Robot come form there was no intelligence about it, we needed heavy weapons. I hear a loud gun shot.
Raising my head I see a tall shadow walking towards a man, one of my brothers his wheezing breath is audible form here. She raises her weapon and fires the muzzle flash illuminates the dark passage for a slip second, the monster of a robot is there next to her in the darkness with Olimpia written on its side. Wheres the other two I think.
I cough expelling blood and dust, her heads turns this way I wouldn't be able to tell in this darkness but her eyes their glowing blue. One of her eyes changes to red the other changes a second later but its changes green then the red becomes green. With the sound of her boots on Rockcrete she comes at me with two green orbs hovering in the darkness, my death comes.
Following the green light I'm strain my neck to look up at her, my sister Batch F289-S1345-616.
"Brother, I see you have a pict-recorder implant so Arktavus is finally thinking. I have a message for my sisters, De omnibus dubitadum. now to you brother you will be of use to arktavus and me in death."
She raises her weapon a large Revolver written down the side I read out loud
"Oderunt dum Metuant"
She smiles.
"Well said Brother, Darkness embrace you"
Bang. Darkness
Edit: I have no schooling in Grammar so please forgive.
Edit 2: Thanks I'll leave it in but ill change it on my character sheet. ;D
Don't worry about the grammar, I have lots of issues with it myself. This eems interesting although it looks like it would fit better in the IC boards. Overal a nice piece, and a good, mysterious introduction of the character.
However, in my edition of Suetonius it is Oderint dum metuant, and not oderunt. De omnibus dubitandum is the correct way of spelling the other phrase. Sorry for this nitpicking but I did those years of learning Latin for a reason.

QuoteBut I'm upgrading it to a Mateba .454 Casull
My pedantism wants to point out that .454 Casull was only available in the Mateba Grifone, which was a carbine variant.
Quote(i.e. A S60 character would suffer -7% per shot on semi-auto).
That's not how the maths works. It's a -10% for firing on semi-auto, plus an extra -4% for the CR rule. As you've written it, it would be a -12% per shot, as your text only halves the penalty from the CR, not the base semi-auto penalty.
Also, I've basically included the recoil glove in the Armoury anyway! Just use a glove based version of recoil suspensors (which would cancel out CR). It complicates it less than layering your modifications on top of my modifications.
I thought you could get a mateba unica 6 in a .454 but the you could also get Mateba Grifone which is the carbine variant in .454
I'm pretty sure, but I wouldn't be completely surprised if some of the Grifone variant had been cut down. (There are enough Mosin-Nagant SBRs out there). But, in any case, real world firearms are not hugely relevant to what might have been done in the 41st millennium.
Oh, one thing I would add... I think your damage stats should probably lose a point each. You've statted the .45 Colt and .454 as equivalent to the .44 Mag and the .500 S&W, and neither quite matches up to those standards.
Thanks for pointing it out actually was meant to do that just forgot. do you think i should drop the .45 colt down some more?
Edit:
Just remember it was a .454 Casull standard
3d6+1 .44 Mg
3d6 .45 colt
3d6+1 .454 Casull
3d6+2 .460 S&W Magnum
3d6+3 .500 S&W Mag
looking something like this?
In very rough terms, the damage stats in the RIA correlate to the energy involved, but sometimes I've nudged things up and down to add in a bit of variation, game balance and to represent other factors in terminal ballistics.
In the case of the pistols:
2D6-1: <200 Joules (.32 ACP)
2D6: 200-400 Joules (.380 ACP, .38 Special)
2D6+1: 400-600 Joules (9mm Parabellum)
2D6+2: 600-800 Joules (.45 ACP)
2D6+3/3D6: 800-1200 Joules (.357 Magnum, .357 SIG, 10mm Auto, .45 Colt - if spiced up a bit for modern revolvers at least)
3D6+1: 1200-1600 Joules (.44 Mag)
3D6+2: 1600-2400 Joules: (.454 Casull, .50 AE)
3D6+3: 2400+ Joules (.460 S&W, .500 S&W)
But this is only for the pistols. If I were using the same guidelines for long-arms, the 3D6 5.56mm (~1,700 J) would fit into the 3D6+2 category, and the 3D6+1 twelve gauge (3000+ J) would earn itself 3D6+3. However, I let the pistols start to stat into the rifle/shotgun region for a few reasons:
a) For a bit more variation on pistol damage.
b) To keep them reasonably competitive. The long-arms get other bonuses like more ammo, range and rate of fire. (Or in the case of the shotguns, being hugely versatile.)
c) I didn't want to give the long-arms too high a damage. They can easily ruin your day as it is.
d) Rule of cool. No-one wants their "most powerful hand-gun in the Imperium" to get outdone by every punk who can find a hunting shotgun.
In your case, I'd stick with a 45 Colt equivalent as the auto, and a 454 as the single shot. I think more than that without some extra penalisation (on which note, you should probably go at least Enc 25) is pushing it a bit.
(Note, for example, the 500 Mag is -1 Shot and +1 Rld to justify still giving it a relatively modest Enc)

Edit: rarity to Rare
Got to keep moving. I'm exhausted, I'm covered in cuts form all this sharp rockcrete and plasteel, Low on ammo and this Bileworm waste of a SMG is constantly jamming when I get back to Deep Bastion I'm going to ram is gun down Marx's silver tongued throat.
I'm such a Grox for coming this deep into the underhive. Listening to everyone one at Jerc's Drinking hole saying its where you found all the best stuff but i haven't found anything except dark tunnels and pollutant waste but that's not all the worst was being chased by cannibal mutants then bumping into a pack of Bileworms, Fething things attracted to light and noise, So here I am crawling through this death maze getting slices up by all this rubble without any light, hoping that I don't bump into a bileworm.
Feth, I freeze as my hand touch's something organic I know its a Bileworm due to the high pitch screech that booms down the tunnel more screeches follow but they are echos of the others. The one i touched disappears down the tunnel away form me having no room to turn around having just and little luck. I grab my glow-globe no point hiding now it be coming for me, I crawl fast down theses tunnel Left, right, left always hearing the movement of large masses of flesh worming towards me echoing down theses tunnels, I come to a 4 way section but I'm fethed I can hear movement down all passages. Looking around I see there is a small hole leading down just big enough for me but to small for a bileworm, but I was always told by guides never go down in tunnels that were this small as you are unable to turn around in them because once you go down there's no coming back till you find whats on the other side but seeing as I'm cornered by bileworms I would think they would tell me to take it.
I leave my gun and climb into the hole using my upperbody to lower myself into the hole, climbing down I hear the Screeh of the bileworms then the sound of them starting devouring each other behind me. I crawl down say some 8 meters when the tunnel changes to a 45 degree angle that's when i see the tunnel is fill with liquid waste. Cursing my luck. I lay there thinking of my choice death being consumed by a bileworm or drowning in waste. I move towards the waste looking at its think brown color I dip the tip of my finger in it and shuffle back, after some time it starts to tingle, great its corrosive.
I have to relay on Arcturus's knowledge and hope he made me as great as he said he did. Crawling upto the waste I take a few deep breaths, close my eyes and push myself into the waste filled tunnel. I use one hand to feel in front and above while the other pulls me along as my legs gently swaying, I can hear a drip echoing through the water. I start to feel the ceiling of tunnel no air pockets, the sound is getting louder but with me forgetting to feel in front I draw my arm back and i drift through the water till my right eye makes contact with something small and protruding. Puncturing my right eye, I scream with pain loosing oxygen I panic feeling around the tunnel there's a wall in front of me no exit no escape I'm going to drown I open my left eye I can see light coming through a hole I missed in my panic taking it me up out of the waste towards air.
I burst form the waste pool into a a large corridor closed off both ends, there's a door in front of the waste tunnel. I crawl towards it, my left eye is burning and becoming blurry with my right eyes still in shocking amounts of pain I stagger to stand opening the door I found a room filled with white I can hear a females voice I can't under stand its not low Gothic but its similar but there's is no one, I think I'm hallucinating. My legs buckle as I stare at a robot wheeling towards me with a Red cross on its head and chest, I fall, my head hits the cold ground and It everything goes black.
Edit: Again I know its full of shocking grammar but blame my English teachers

An interesting weapon, I can't say much about it because I know next to nothing about firearms but that is a very powerful pistol, the recoil on it must be very unpleasant.
The felt recoil is apparently quite manageable, as the semi-auto mechanism absorbs the energy, rereleasing it slower. And it's a big heavy firearm, so it absorbs the force reasonably well any way. It's the lightweight firearms you want to watch for recoil.
Also, do they have the red cross in 40k
yeah don't know the symbol for medical centers

Something is clawing at the inside of my eyes the pain is unfathomable, everything goes black.
Very morbid. (Probably doesn't help I'm listening to Imaginaerum at the same time.)
QuoteWent with unique because its a a one off custom pistol.
That's not quite what the rarity means. It's not (just) about numbers, it's about how possible it is to have one (or an equivalent).
For example, Inquisitor Skoll's stubber and his sword might both be one-of-a-kind, but they're different one-of-a-kinds.
- His stubber is his own design and construction, but it's just a well made stubber. A decent gunsmith could reproduce an equivalent (and indeed, Marco has had to rebuild it before). It's thus "Uncommon".
- Laevateinn (his sword) is millennia old, the details of its construction and runic markings completely unknown. It's completely indestructible; the blade won't gather dirt, dust or blood; and daemon flesh offers no resistance to its edge. It is utterly impossible to reproduce, with few (if any) known equivalents. It is therefore "Unique".
Oderint dum Metuant, while one of a kind, could be reproduced. We're talking Uncommon, or maybe Rare with the master-crafting.

Bionic Implants are early archeotech - Classification - Mastercrafted
They look like normal eyes except on closure inspection there is a cog like ring bordering between the Iris and Sclera which constantly rotates in an anti-clockwise direction. The iris is made of Rings that Illuminate a light corresponding to which mode is activate. The Pupil is pitch black with a reflective gloss Constantly rotating in a clockwise direction expanding and contracting for focus which pushs the Iris rings apart or together, but the expansion is contracting is opposite to the natural eye contracting in low light expanding in High light. Along with Numbers and writing data script scroll across and down the the pupil.

Unless the wear has archeotech language skill then all 3 modes has access to bonus Passive Range finder and Passive Motion-Tracker and Passive Auspexes
Character does not have archeotech language (skill)
Edit: don't even know if archeotech language (skill) is a lore thing or would archeotech language be High Gothic?
Edit: with theses first contact she has with adeptus mechanicus is going to go down well. A black visor will be purchased once she returns to Deep Bastion.
The mechanicus would go to great lengths to obtain those devices. Where did the character manage to get them and where were they implanted and by who? Also, on which character are they?
The story above, posted to get feedback and the rules follow the story as with the gun , haven't done the robot yet still thinking about the stats and all. A group of friends want to play inquisitor one is going with a full group of Arbitrators, the other wants to go Tech-priest Explorer team. so there my enemies so trying to set up story around all three.
Those three bands should be easy to get at eachother's throats, the explorators want the same as your people, the archeotech, which gives an immediate source of conflict, the arbitrators want to stop both other bands because they are breaking Imperial Law or have done so and that warrants them being hunted down, leading the others to maybe attempt pre-emptive strikes.
The explorer tech-priest wants my eyes along with the location of where I got them. The polce force wants me because of there investigation into the loss of planet tithes coming form the planetary governor. The explorer and police fight due to preventing of my capture or death without the explorer getting the info his needs? On iPhone so it's a pain to text.
I would also try to give your band a reason to strike at them, perhaps the emchanicus also has something you want and the arbites could also be keeping some stuff in their precinct they have taken as evidence. That way not everything will be about one of the three bands.
The problem I see with that is it all revolves around your warband. The others should also have their own motivations unrelated to your characters.
Also you'd better hope your character doesn't go out of action - if I were playing the Explorator I'd have him take your eyes from your unconcious body.
The explorer tech priest wants to do something to the underground mining so he can search the ruins. Which would undermine the already under performing planet tax. Police force vs explorer well that's what the friends are saying.
The explorer hears a story about this female that found a catch of archeotech and has gotten Rick he's searching for her or a portion of his team is.
Vagueness = on iPhone
When in the underhive is adimantium value in scarp and is more valuable when in useable form as say crates. What is adamantium lifespan does it rust and break down?
Edit : my character wants the explorers archeotech and the police has a Freind in intergation and maybe a valuable item I want back?
As far as I know adamantius is nearly indestructible and quite expensive as it is hard to make/find.
I was thinking that the pistol would be found in a adamantium gun case and the gun is in some sort of gel
That could happen but I can't see why someone would do an adamantium gun case rather than a more visually pleasing material, and why the gel, that could only work is it was meant to be preserved for a long time.
Dr. Gilles sure liked his pistol taking a job in a distance colony he had all his items stored away but kept his gun with. Dr gilles died in the colony dome collapse leaving his prized item in his office on his desk? I'm at work midnight on iPhone so quick story is dodgy
In that case the weapon would have been stored in a more accessible form, especially storing it in an adamantium would be very difficult to do. There is no real reason for it to be that old, a more recent make could also play the part without having a character with immensely much luck in finding ancient stuff.
Yeah thinking that to, originally plan was a spoilofwar gang fight or a noble scryer (spelling) that ventures into the lower hive but don't know still thinking. It's here eyes and a large pistol that is her and the warband is a mantle of robots with one master control unit the female
The weapon could have been taken from a ganger, those tend to love their overpowered pistols and this certainly is one. It could also have belonged to a bounty hunter tasked with tracking down those metal monsters people are talking about.
yes! dolnikan bounty hunter powerful pistol with density finder and laser sight with AP bullets, metal monsters being my creations I see and I like it
One of my mates, mates want to play and wants to play a bounty hunter which is good. He's going with a group of four (three merc's (calling themselves the machine-gun brothers) and a anti-amour bounty hunter). My other mates are thinking where would an anti armor bounty hunter come form. Their thoughts are that there are machine flesh machines in the hive sump and theses monster sometimes venture out of the sump and attack underhive and this things are to be hunted down for bounty and given over to someone adeptus mechanicus before they venture to high in the the hive?
So the hive where at now has bileworms, cannibal mutants and machine beasts or something changes the mutants into machine beasts and sends them into the underhive?
What does your friend mean by an anti-armour bounty hunter? Is it more of a tank hunter type or someone who just uses armour-piercing weapons?
Armour piercing weapons are useful in certain situations, such as when the people you hunt tend to put on a lot of body armour. Weapons that can actually damage armoured vehicles should probably not be used much in inquisitor, they would too easily tear apart any normal foe.
I think he was on the idea of he's specialty is anti robot in a sense. Then the others ask why would there be a bounty hunter that specializes in anti robot/armor they had a chat and came up with another enemy in the underhive which have s bounty on them for each kill and that he knows where to hit armor and take them down. When the bounty is put on my character he takes up the bounty. The warband fights the explores don't know the story and the arbiters don't pay the bounty on the machine beasts ?
Such machine beasts seem to be a rather strange things, robots are rare and if such creatures would appear there would be more done about it than just hiring a few bounty hunters. An anti-robot specialisation would be very narrow. I would suggest an ordinary bounty hunter who, for some reason, prefers to use weapons that are very effective against armoured targets. The reason for this could be that in the past he has on several occasions hunted down renowned outlaw leaders who were very well armoured, perhaps in carapace armour.
Another option would be that there are groups in the underhive, perhaps a specific kind of gang, or some rather primitive tribes, who make heavy armour outof plates of scrap metal.
Again your ideas are great I'll pass them on. Now I got figure how my character gets her robots and the knowledge as her mentor is a logician bologis. As with the tech priests they would remove her eyes before anything, wouldn't they. So there's no training them maybe she can stay in the underhive after taking out Artavus she takes over his lab but focuses on improving herself through the study of cybernetics?
That could be a bit difficult to explain yes, but I think that it would be really helpful to have a summary of what you have so far, there has been a pile of ideas floating around here and it is becoming a bit hard to keep track of it all.
Got to read "Disciples of the Dark Gods" to sort out the first bit.
Logician Biologis Genators have been funded by the planetary Governor to do research on genetically enhanced soldiers that can be cloned . The lead Logician creates a Batch that leads to (main Character Name) having success in the research he then tries to clone the subject but everyone after this fails with rapid mutations.
He goes back in his research and puts (main character) into the raising program. She turns out to be average only showing talent in her Intelligence and having total recall (photographic memory) and seems to want to focus mainly on study and assist in the research. She initiates into a squad befriending them all and fills the medic and technical support. In her helping of the Logicians she comes across some disturbing information about the future of the research and the actually Logicians themselves.
A test is held and the Subjects are sent into the field which is the underhive to eliminate the gangs as the targets. The tests is the elimination of the subjects field tests most are slaughtered. The main character team survives but still in the field other test subjects are brought in the team is wiped out Main character is knocked out presumed dead no body.
shes left in the underhive, unconscious healing with her heighten healing. she wakes up seeking revenge not for her comrades but for herself, but needing equipment and thrones she searches the underhive. Working as a hire gun and doing settlement repairs she keeps travelling down seeking this treasure of wealth enough to buy equipment and men to bring down Arcturus (archeotech).
Bileworms and finding the eyes. she gets out.
Now here is where i want her to see Logios Cybernetica Robots in action and thinking she doesn't need gangers she needs theses robots maybe helping the Explorer putting down a riot against the explorer wanting the flood the mining pit so he can search for archeotech?
The she needs to ether befriend them or find a dead logios because I want her to have MIU implants to control the robots.
she sneaks into the lab and sets of a series of explosions after accessing the data-slates and killing some subjects. Arcturus sends 2 teams of subjects each team is wiped out. Finding out he hire mercs to do the deed bot fail (going to play the game to get the narrative (hopefully i win) Arcturus sends another team along with a larger group of mercs they two are wiped out or fled.
Arcturus is furious Planetary Governor wants results Arcturus give him the reason the research is failing. The Planetary Governor gives the Arbirties the reason why the Tithes are down due to the Terrorist actions of this character disturbing the lower hive.
Now inquisitor comes into it as he investigates the planetry governor for corruption (doinquisitor do this or Arbirties(cant spell)
There is a big difference between deciding that she wants robots and actually getting her hands on some of them, they are rare and far beyond the capacities of most people to make.
An option would be that while she is still young a rival group attacks and takes the few more succesful subjects with them as spoils. This rival group of logicians(there could be much logician activity on the planet, perhaps a plot hook). She would still have to be young so she can be indoctrinated into their service, someone older would be much harder to work with. This group is focussed more on robotics type research/ Her skills have made her a suitable leader of more violent missions for her dark masters.
The people who created her could still be alive, they might have fled or some of them simply were not present. They have plenty of reason to want her eliminated, she after all is a threat and they want to destroy their rivals. They would of course want to blame bad things on them and that could make the governor give the clues to the arbites.
Kidnapped at a young age indoctrinated to there side what's augments would they give here would she be more tach-priest light servo harness and all that or can she be a test subject fitted with MIU's lending down her back seeing what the limits of there new research is?
I think that it depends on her skill set, if she proves herself an able leader of a small robot cohort they would make her the leader of one of their small exploration teams, consisting of a few robots and herself, they could be accompanied by a Logician who is in charge of overal affairs but in combat prefers to have someone with more expertise(your main character) make the decisions. The modifications would be the MIU and perhaps, after she suffers damage or as a reward for service, the eyes.
Damn IPhone and plus at work 2am in the morning I retyped it must of errored out.
She a quick learner she needs to be only shown once she has total recall (memory) her martial abilities are standard giving most of her time into study and helping with repairs and salvage. Her body is strengthen and has great endurance. They test her abituite with command and control of robots she has talent so they implant an MIU contol unit into the back of the neck and fasten on a light servo harness which holes two utility mecharites to help with repairs.
They experiment with her limit seeing as combat effectiveness drops for most mantles after 4 quite rapidly they see her limit. Her command and control is 110% at 3 and sharply decrease at 4 then guardedly until they stopped the experiment at 30% C&C at 12 inputs still highest they seen. She promises to be a great asset. But not having the resources to field that many and she's only a initiate she is given one robot small in size but still effective in combat, she will have to construct collect or find more which her mentor push her to do.
Don't know the max size of the mantles but they are surprised and excited but the experiment and or their new initiate.
EDIT: ^ tech-priests have 4 robots
Why does she neeed the capability to control 62? 3 is more than enough for a single person to fully control.
Edited the post.
I would leave out thepercentages, they oversimplify things, I would simply say that she has exceptional skills at controlling multiple robots, and that they expect that with further training she will become their best controller.
Now just haveto make the robots. Warband virgo three robots 1 hover 1 large 1 scout/ambush and thinking of a tech priest and might follow the dark magneto magazine more machine then man.

Fire mode is always on High power - Magazine is modified to match
? that +7 is worrying me (+1 Hot shot)+(+4 High powermode)+(3D6+2 28Megathule)
Is the Reload Risky action enough of a risk action on the weapon ?
Robot has 50 BS.
The Reloading Mechanism is a rotating system of 8 hot clips then when the clip is empty it is expended then changed with a fresh one.
Armour Values vs this weapon
Flak - 3 -> 4
Mesh - 4 -> 6
Carapace - 6 -> 9
Power - 10 -> 15
Reflective Armour Gains 1D6 + (x1.5), so a roll of 1D6 you gain theses Bonuses to the Armour value
1 -> 1
2 -> 3
3 -> 4
4 -> 6
5 -> 7
6 -> 9
Does Reflective Armour have this effect on Redlight attachment or is it only on the base Armour and not the reflective Bonus?
The weapon seems very powerful. I would decrease it somewhat for balance terms, when this weapon hits someone that character will almost certainly go down. If you think the damage is as it should be I would remove 4 from the fixed damage and add a D6, on average this is slightly less damage but that won't really matter and you get rid of the +7.
Yeah was thinking that 4D6. Any thoughts on the risky action reload ?
Quote from: Nemesis on April 21, 2012, 02:48:36 PMthat +7 is worrying me
3D6+7 Rending sounds nasty, but with only two shots, not
quite as devastating as it seems. (Particularly against a reasonably well armoured target.)
I've had characters using a Callahan Pattern (3D6+4 Blueshift & 4 shots a cell at full power) run out of ammo without actually managing to take anyone out of the game.
However:
a) The RIA isn't really meant to be horribly exploited to make "OMG best gun ever", and is meant to be approached with some maturity.
b) If you do want to cook up something like this, you should still look on it as pretty similar to a Bolter in terms of the impact it can have on a game. If someone catches something this to the face, they've not got a chance.
c) I need to push through the lasweapon alterations I'm still working on.
QuoteDoes Reflective Armour have this effect on Redlight attachment or is it only on the base Armour and not the reflective Bonus?
The additional rules section suggests that Reflec/Ceramite armour are never modified by armour piercing/similar effects.
You could do that, if it is a system prone to jamming. Depending on the speed of the robot it could occur very often, giving you only a few shots per game, or it could hardly ever come about when the robot has a low speed.
3 speed so double 1's.
It's ment two be fire support, didn't want make a omg best weapon but a weapon that she has a propose to use in the area she is stationed versing low armour mobs along with exploring in the lower underhive dealing with over grow mutants and chem spawned creatures.
But the +7 means it penetrates armor easily which isn't the sense of the weapon, it wasn't ment two do ap so choose the muzzle to increase armour value vs weapon and adding rending which is what it represents. So Marco do you think a 4D6 or just stay which the +7 as the design was designed to take out orgyn sized mutants which need two stay down.
I like the low shot per clip but is the risky action enough or should there be more negatives ?
Is it appropriate for taking out Ogryn like mutants?
Not so much. Ogryns are tough gits, so you'd probably want something a nastier than an amped up hellgun to put them down properly.
My choice for that would probably be a plasma gun or Bolt Cannon.
I made the latter up for the RIA on the principle of a 4 bore hunting rifle (which was used for "dissuading" charging elephants) being reinvented to fire Heavy Bolter rounds.
Now, I lifted the fluff passages out of the last release while I rewrote them, but it was described as being popular with Ordos Xenos kill teams - the firepower to put down most nasty creatures, but a bit more portable than a full heavy bolter.
But this brings us to the next question:
Is it appropriate to be taking a gun for putting down Ogryns in a normal Inquisitor game (where there aren't many Ogryns)?
And that answer is "Probably not".
The model I was thinking has two hard points in the chest meaning there be two weapons each with there own reloading mechanisms.
The group I play with are sort of power gamers. I would restrict it use just against them but still making it for my fluff it's 3 meters tall by 5 meters long 2 meters wide it's not something for inquisitor no. The other robots are anti gravity mediums along with 2 other ground based humanoid robots.

Are you sure that Inquisitor is the right game to play with them? It's not a game that really works if any of the participants are inclined towards power-gaming.
Yeah we usually rag on them pretty hard if they bring anything really whacked like one guy terminator armor normal human and there was no back story like where the he'll would he get that sort of armour he shrug and said it was his dream to be a terminator he got ragged on till he removed that abomination form the table and another tried to make a abaddon character with lighting claws and a daemon weapon in terminator armour he's also get ragged on and he doesn't even play anymore because he couldn't make anything that wasn't made to dominate everything on the field.
On an old post of mine we played at a GW event and one off the staff field a 140ws dual power sword weilding elder on the table, killed all the young players that where trying to learn to play making the experience bad which pee'd me to no end so I got lucky with old rule flamethrower killing him. He had a nerd rage had a fit packed up and left when only in the first out of 3 games.
So I usally play with a close friend or brothers which or more into the RP of the game. Which means I usally make a warband which is interchangable if I vs my brothers I bring 3 medium robots my character and a tech priest. When I vs the others I drop in the large robot a arcoflagant and 2 gun servitors.
It might be worth giving the power gamers a miss and just sticking with the more grounded players.
Because it offers such freedom, Inquisitor is a game that's dependent on the players having a co-operative attitude and working towards a collectively enjoyable experience. It falls apart quite quickly if any of the players start trying to one up each other or are unwilling to lose.
Yeah when you put a two men bounty hunter which is a lady and male with flak and shotguns then the enemy place a spacemarine on table not fun when the GW gm just says objectives is to kill the other. I laugh and run off the field of play claiming my men run because it's the only intelligent thing to do and no money is vs a 2 on 1 with a spacemarine.
Can anyone link me a thread of a completed inquisitor warband so I can get a feel of a warband. When I think about it, it feels like I'm trying to constantly power up my character? Which is not what I won't to done. I'm looking to make a character gene engineered femal human that uses robots and to play with my brothers/friends in a narrative storyline of her rise to power with her group which is now a logician faction that focus is on robotic knowledge.
The factions enemy is Adeptus mechanicus explorer groups and a faction of logicians that focusing on the creation of genetical engineered soldiers for a corrupt planetary governor looking to grab more power. This logician group of genators and biologis was the ones to birth/create my character #616.
The Adeptus Mechanicus fights for control over archeotech dig sites which they furiously defend, logicians have to move fast before the archeotech is taken off world.
The arbiters are investigating the disturbents in the lower hive city caused by the conflicts of the factions
Which is lending to lower then excepted tithes this collection run.
An inquisitor is lending an investingation into the upper noble houses of the hive city which leads him to the logicians biologis and there research.
Bounty hunters are hired to take down an individual who is seen in the hive sump with humanoid machines.
I agree with avoiding the powergamers, such people make the game a match in bringing bigger guns.
Edit: my computer got issues last night leading to the rather short post above, I really have no idea what happened after I typed the first line.
If the bounty hunters are specifically hired to take down your character it could lead to some issues, they will stop at nothing to kill her, when she goes down they will probably try to confirm their kill to get the pay, and a shotgun to the face of someone who is down will be certain death, which invalidates the whole approach. I would try to give them a more general objective. Perhaps the governor has declared that he wants the underhive cleansed of all the many disturbances because they are starting to leak into the middle hive where production is damaged. He or she is already hard pressed to make the tithes because of the secret program, and these disturbances could lead to investigations before the governor can properly defend his or her position.
In this case the governor has put out a general contract on all rebellious elements in the lower parts of the hive, the bounty hunters will be working on getting rich by getting as many of them as possible.

There are some things I would change about Aoife(I like the name by the way). I would give her only one of the three abilities listed under Arcturus creation, the three of them make her nearly unkillable. Other than that she seems good to me. I would personally go for just a flesh wound, it shows the character's abnormal resilience without going too far with true grit, which is more about spirit than about physical resilience or pain sensation. Other than that I would boost her mental skills a bit, she is very talented with robots and the like, which requires a strong will, so I would boost the willpower and the sagicity, she is noted for her intelligence
How do you pronounce Aoife? My reading of name is bad A-oi-fe or Eefa
Thinking Sg low but has mechanically minded (robots) +20% Sg when dealing with robots, but here other fields shes only 68, might jack it up but she has total memory recall but shes been only focused on robots?
With Arcturus Creation - Hrm yeah with True Grit player would put her down but with the high T she wouldn't fail often and get back up form system shock and once they finally put her down into conciseness she can still recover.
The robots where going to have a program code that activates when she goes Down that reads
"Master Protect" -Disengage all target, Return to Master, Protect Master, Drag Master, Proceed out of Danger Zone.
Was going to have Hadaly be just like a True researcher she leaves the combat to Aoife but does support but doesn't get stuck in (she would in-game proceed to objective)
Aoife is main character in Engagements but takes a back set in the investigations and leaves that to Hadaly.
The Robots are all linked to Aoife so when she goes down they fall back on Hardware and follow the Master protect Program.
Edited: Reading through the Recovery Rules and I get D3+2 Damage Points recovery a turn, (men gotta play a game with someone). I think I'm still in the mind set of someone shoot Las cannons at me. so yeah dropping True Grit

Behind The Name suggests EE-fa.

This is why I greatly prefer 40KRP's lascannons -- let's face it, 4D10 damage in a setting like Inquisitor where most characters have more than 40 Toughness (not to mention armour) is not representative of something that can punch a hole in the side of a tank, or reduce someone to a cloud of smoking ash*. It's probably this weakness that means your gaming group is inclined to shoot your characters with them, because "oh, you'll probably survive it, don't worry", which has so far meant you've been inclined to take True Grit et cetera so that you
do survive it.
Rant over. Apologies.
Quoteso yeah dropping True Grit
I had to stop and remind myself what the rules for True Grit were, as I'm still thinking "halve incoming Critical Damage" when that's a 40KRP mechanic. As it stands, good call, because you'd need practically superhuman reserves of willpower to get back up when you've been shot to hell or whatever. I wouldn't even give the Inquisitor-version to
Storm Troopers, never mind your character.
*By contrast, even in Dark Heresy, a lascannon's going to point and laugh at anything short of Terminator armour, hit you with more D10s than the Inquisitor equivalent plus a very heavy fixed damage modifier, and then point and laugh again as it cremates you on the spot. Not to mention the chances of getting Righteous Fury with that many D10s flying around. And they're even more powerful in Deathwatch.
I can confirm Behind The Name's suggestion. As it happens, Irish people love playing the "can you pronounce my name" game, especially with girls' names... Aoife is relatively simple ;D
hadaly
I've found today in a data-slate an old recording of Aoife when she was younger.
I was on my way to another informant to get info on the location of a recent collapse in the tunnels which might lead to an unexplored area of this city. Aoife was with me I wouldn't leave her with the others and she seems to have attached herself to me.
I'm pushing through the crowd thankful that it was midday or the crowd would be a torrent of despair and flesh ether returning to work or going home for what little break they get. I feel a tug on my cloak looking down out this child of Arcturus his research had created this female human child around the age of 7, the tests that was done on her was surprising never thinking the Arcturus could have such a success this child was his proof.
"Yes child was is it?"
"umm Hadeely, that men over there was saying that this is only tunnel, why you going to another tunnel if this is the only one?"
"Aoife, listen most people live in a ever small box in life and in the mind. If you want answers search for the facts and learn and don't listen to anyone until you know what is true. And for your question there are many tunnels, some above some below some parallel to this one but theses people can live there whole life in just the one."
"Is there only tunnels?"
"Oh no there is the surface with it's pipes of fire and spires piecing the sky, but this is just one planet in a system of planets and that is just a system within a cluster of systems with the great galaxy of the imperium."
Aoife eyes wide starts to open her mouth
"Aoife there is much for you to learn once we get back home I'll give you some data-slates you can read ok, but we need to keep moving or I'm going to miss my informant"
I turn of the data-slate pictorial, smiling to myself well I don't have lips anymore but the thought is there. That time was before I knew what a good student she would be and before I knew that she would go through data-slates faster then I could give her, she's still attached to me while still not getting along with the others but is quite focus on the robotica we are currently studying asking me to implant MIU uplink to a robot. So I'm here creating the MIU for Aoife so I can give her, her gift thinking to myself I'm grateful that I didn't go through with the rite of pure thought when I was with the Adeptus mechanicus so I could have theses thoughts theses thoughts that give me strength and hope for the future of Aoife."
