Hello all,
Been a while since I did anything due to moving a lot and new job and such. But here's my latests WIP offering. Needs a scalpel taking to it to sharpen bits up, but he's supposed to be a bit deranged and ragged anyway as the background which I will post later tonight might explain.
In brief he's called the Warp Hound as he is in the retinue of an Inquisitor who mainly pursues rogue psykers, this chaps role (Allion is his WIP name) is to 'sniff' them out as he is himself a psyker engaged in penance for this sin. And then liberally slice their limbs off with his many handy sharp edges.

Apologies for the poor light and detail. Camera phone only with no Macro function annoyingly.
Enjoy and critique at leisure.

The text is ominious...
I must say that I really like the model and the idea behind the character. The only thing you could change is maybe to have it a bit less backwards leaning, in some pictures he looks like he is falling voer. But other than that he is great, the pose is nice as well, it can be seen as many different things, all of them fitting.

The text is indeed ominous.
Creative model + good concept = great character.
Also, I like the scenic base you've used, Where's it from?
Looking good so far, nice piece of sculpting.
I like the idea of an Alien inducted into the Imperial cult and viewing himself as a sinner.
Thanks for the comments!
@Dolnikan - I think he looks more backwards in photos, not that I'd be able to correct anyway without lots of work so will just leave and hope it looks better in photos when painted!
@Goldeneye - loving the additional text! Prize for anyone who knows where it comes from, its the back of an envelope if that helps..... The base is from microartstudios I think though I bought it off ebay - £5 inc postage for two random bases I think or something like that from through_fire_and_flames I think. Try their direct website though they offer loads and good quality.
@Hum_Con - Thanks for compliments - but he's not an alien just a human psyker that been through a particular ordeal, will post the background up soon but not quite happy with it so watch this space!
Cheers again
Rob
Not sure where I got the idea he was an alien from. Maybe I misread Allion as alien and then the idea got stuck in my head.
So all the blades and bits are implants? Grim. I will be interested to see him painted.
Not entirely sold on the hat, and the blades are a bit Dark Eldar-y. On the other hand, the sculpting's more than solid, and that's a brilliant use of the Talos face plates. Are you planning to fill the holes or leave them as-is?

*cough* totally not stolen from the bottom of a reaver jetbike *cough*
I plan to leave the holes in, I think it adds gothic-y character as opposed to smooth and filled in. Still need to add detail to his arms though.
And I'll have you know that that hat is all the rage on omicron persei 8:P

Hmm. Your sculpting abilities are certainly improving. I particularly like the design of the breastplate/cuirass, and the bionic "lictor arms" are a nice touch which adds a lot to the flavour of the model. Very "hellpunk"
Purely to be critical, I can see a few fingerprints in the green stuff here and there. It's probably a bit late to do anything about some of them, but I reckon that a little bit of TLC with a nailfile will help buff the majority of the more noticeable ones away.
Also, with regard to the 'leaning too far back' comments that have been raised, you could probably help to remedy a lot of that by cutting his legs at the ankles and repositioning them from there. It probably wouldn't be enough to fix the problem entirely, but it would likely go a long way towards helping to fix it.
As a final pointer, for some of the GS parts on the 'bionics,' you might want to sharpen up a few of the edges by trimming them with a scalpel. I find that you get a lovely, crisp, hard edge on GS when you cut it post-curing with a sharp blade.
These are just a few pointers to help you turn what is already a good model, into a great one. I don't mean to sound overly-critical, but just trying to help you improve. ;)
