Now as I have revived Corvin Thommers in his new form I have begain to look over how ant what back ground he came from and have struck upon this guy:
Born on the small backwater world of Flotmas IV in mid M41, Stannhope was the son of two docters, Fila and Maldon Stannhope. While Fila was a rather well known veterinary physician among the horse breeders (Horses being the largest demomanation of livestock on Stanhope's homeworld) on Flotmas IV Stannhope took up his father's path and became a run of the mill physician.
Despite a rather sloppy start at the medicae training he soon became a top student and begain to show real skill and it was thought that he would end up becomeing tops in his class.
That was untill the war started
In 877M41, rouge elaments of Flotmas's PDF and very large number of it's people, launched an atempt at secession from the Imperium. Sparking the First Flot Rebelion.
The 24 year old stanhope was pulled from his training and quickly thurst him to to one of the ad-hok millita units being raised to support the outnumbered Loyalist PDF units in the city. Now truley in the thick of it did Stannhope truly see what was happening. Out numberd by 2-1 in favour of the Secessionists. The Secessionists, who under the command of General Kalas, had rallied the people and hired a number of offworld merc grupes, were quickly gaining ground thanks to the lack of combat gear of the Loyalist forces (thanks to a raied on the main suply base by Kalas' core forces) and quickly gaining more support.
And thrust in to this was Stannhope. Given nothing more than a feild medi-kit, lasgun and a rather ugly looking work horse (the PDF being primarly mounted the Millita had to keep up somehow), he was toled to keep his fellows, The 177th Planetary Defence Volunteers "The Hog Heads", alive and thus it was that he was thrown in to one of the bloodyiest wars he had been before or since.
Despite what he had heard about the honor of the mounted combatent he soon saw the true face of it. As he watched his friends get trampled after falling off their horses or shot throught the eyes or brain pans, or suffer the wailing of someone getting torn apart by a chainsword he begain to reflect on the imperium and one day made a faithful remark of "I wish the Emperor still walked with us"
A faithful remark indeed for when it reached the ears of Inquisitor Valera Weisson of the Ordo Hereticus his fate was sealed.
Haveing arived with the Imperial task force sent to aid with the war Weisson was intreaged by the young man's skills and his faith in the Emperor.
Rather than leave him on the battlefeild Wiesson brought him to her. In arather untactful way of speaking she crudly informed him that he worked for the Inquisition for the time being and that he would serve to the best of his ability.
The PDV medic (and sometimes feild officer even though that was not his job) simply nodded and took it was his normal stotic, matter of fact, approche to things (handy skill for a medic) wich had become his trade mark among the PDV at that point and begain to aid the Inquistor's team.
Overtime Weisson begian to become impressed with his faith and medical skill and soon as the war came to a close with the death of General Kalas' death upon chokeing to death upon a pice of food (Stannhope would later jokeingly remark "Fat Frakker would'nt have died if I's been there") weisson later vrought his full time in to her team.
Later Stannhope became Weisson star piupl and soon begain to convert to her Thorian ways and never forgetting his one remark about the Emperor one of the real reasons he was there. Wiesson had hope by that remark that he could copme to see her side of things. she fely proud of herself after that.
Never the less an iquistor's life is frought with danger and it was on their last mission together on Necromunda that Weisson was killed in action after takeing a stray bolt round to the chest.
Stannhope then hoped from mentor to mentor never really likeing any of them untill finaly wehn he was well in to his late 100s he was granted his full iquisitorial satus after the Purging of a chaosite cabal on Thara II.
After joining the Sepulturum, having hoped to find fellow medics and like minded Thorians, he returned to his homeworld to find his first recrute.
He found her in Infantry platoon LIeutenant Shira Don and later found the former Foundry worker Holst Morlain
. The three of then quickly became a team soon after.
Over the years Stannhope has been scraped and beat to the warp and has, with his medical know how, been able to pice himself back together anumber of time, well exsept when to tokk a bullet to the head he needed the other's help for that.
As a now well known Revivifcator Stannhope is allways on the look out for any word of Pleauge Zombies or strange unearthings of bodies in to hope that perhaps he can fofull his deram of the Emperor walking in the flesh

Like most of the story. Some things I'm thinking about.
How do you as a an acolyte jump from mentor to mentor? Why should Valera let him go? Why should an Inquisitor take on an acolyte just out of the blue?
I would like to hear the story about the daemon incident.
He doesn't wear that much armour, which is okay, but maybe he should have a Refractor field for when the zombies closes in? And maybe some de-toxes? And what kind of Semi is his las?
He looks interesting, and I like most of the background. I would try to expand on the hopping from mentor to mentor, perhaps say that he was first adopted by one of his master's allies, who transferred him to another ally and so on, until he found someone who was willing to back him into becoming an inquisitor, some of his other former masters would probably also have supported this.
He could be trained as an Deductor.

#1: An acolyte can jump from mentor to mentor for a number of reasons, unable to get along, driffrances of ideaolagy, etc
#2: You seemed to miss the part where she was killed in action, she did not have much choise about letting him go
#3: How els are you going to take one? And remember that thought I forgot to mention it She and Stannhope had worked together for nearly a year before she took him on her team.

Yah sure I guess I can write that up at somepoint

Never thought about the De-toxes! Thanks for bringing that up. As for the refractor feild I can see Stannhope getting in too close in his state of health. Bad legs would make it rather hard to go all swordsman like on the undead. It's why he uses a power knife. He only gets close in a pinch.
As for his lasgun it's like a mars patern semi I guess. Might just keep it on single for ease of rules and understandiong

Yes I figure that about right or close enough to it makes little driffrance
EDIT: Also note I will take allmost all forms of fead back
Yeah, sorry, I missed the part where she died. I was just thinking that Ira had to start all over again with each Inquisitor.
But as a Deductor he gets into contact with several Inquisitors.
Keep the las semi, you need to burst into does horde of zombies. :)
Well, if you want to hit the head bursts will only decrease your chance of hitting it if you like to aim properly...
Refractor fields don't really help when the zombies close in, it only works against ranged attacks. Perhaps he beliefs that he is best served by being light so he can escape rather than wade in, because that way he would be overwhelmed.
Shira Don
Formaly a member of the 223rd Flotmas PDF regiment serving as a mounted Infantry Lieutenant, Shira is a third child and was allways a mess (or so her mother and father thought) for a lower class noblewoman, often drinking to late and out with her friends to much, rather then atending to the affairs of a moble. Finaly after a few stressful years of dealing with a half drunk, one night standing, Shira, her father had had enough. In short order he had Shira in a PDF uniform and a rank pin,of a sergeant hopeing to the Emperor that the "family embarrassment" as he called her, would make something of herself rather than act like a fool and get herself shot.
Rather surpriseingly she took to the training with ease, though with ill grace, and general dislike of her father. Still she turned out to be an exalent NCO, her inbred skill of being able to lord it over others and be generaly bossy to other nobles made her rather respected and to a certen extent feared after she had two members of her squad flogged for wearing the wrong cap badge.
By the time she was well in to her late 30s she had made third leiutenant in her platoon and have even won two medals for curage under fire in the Second Flot Rebelion in 990M41, erning the first after leading her outgun and out dumbers platoon on an all out charge on a heavly fortified gun emplacement and the second for takeing a bullet for her commander.
Though smaller in comparison to the Firse the Second still played mary hell on the PDF even though they had the upperhand thins time and did not need any offworld renforcements.
Though she had lost her right leg in the fighting she was even more sruprised to find that Inquisitor Stannhope chose her for her for his team, not only for her combat skill, leadership and general willingness to get her hands dirty, made her an exalent choise for his line of work.

From yime to time the Bionic leg of hers caoues her trubble
To bring this in to play her trubbles count as a Chronic Disability as per Dark Magenta 2 for her right leg
I like her but I would have her start as a commisioned officer, because that was usually where the aristocrats started out in our own past. Nerves of steel is something only for suicidally brave characters, to represent ordinary bravery a high nerve stat serves better than that skill. About the stats, I would slightly boost the nerve, and either the Ws or Bs, whichever field you want her to specialize in, at this point she has above average combat skills, but has nothing special to mark her out for the inquisition. The Sg could be a bit lower, she lacks any sort of training with technical things and probably did not spend much attention when she was schooled, based on how she spent her youth.
Thanks for the tips Dol! I will keep those in mind I will. yeah I going to up her ws a bit and maybe put a point in to her bs. As for her nerve I will up that too.
EDIT: Think i might go for Heroic to represent her bravery
She looks much better now, all that is missing is a justification for the heroic, what makes her a true hero above the many others?
Don't know yet. Could have charged down a heavy weapon implacement with just a hand full of troops I guess, that could have erned her the medals.
Things like that, and perhaps some almost impossible things, such as being the only one to survive from a first attack wave, something to show her as special.
I desided to have her lead that charge and take a bullet for her commander as suteably heroic things.

When talking about the Heroic skill I tend to go by the 'Indiana Jones test' - if your character is the type who will, for example leap onto the side of a moving tank, or attempt other things that are equally dangerous but which
just might work, then they are deserving of having the Heroic skill. These are the sorts of characters who you should be played as attempting lots of risky actions. Other types of heroism, such as being extremely brave, should be represented by other skills or stats. Heroic should be reserved for the almost foolhardy risk-taking type of bravery.
As Kaled says, Heroic is not just about keeping your nerve. The Indiana Jones test is also my favoured method - could you see them doing the kind of things Indiana Jones would do? If so, they probably deserve heroic. But if they're not taking risky actions on a regular basis, they're probably not cheating the odds enough to be worthy of it.
(It is, after all, a skill that should be looked on as reducing the odds of risky actions, not one that means you'll pass more actions).

If I were writing the rules you'd only be able to use Heroic on a turn where you've declared a risky action. It's always disappointing to see people using it to perform mre safe actions...
I do sometimes use a variant of it where the re-roll only counts against risky actions. (i.e. If you roll 1, 1, 4 & 6 and re-roll one of those 1s and get a 5 instead, it would cancel the risky action, but you'd still only get two successful actions.)
That said, I don't entirely dislike it as is, as a slightly improved action chance does also fit with an Indiana Jones like character being able to make decisions quickly on the fly - in other words: "I don't know, I'm making this up as I go."
Been thinking of late. What the chance that a sepy inquisitor would take on a team mamber who survived a zombie plauge? Someone with that much faith to not contract or fought off the plauge would be worthy of Inquisitorial conspription right?
A survivor could be a recruit, if he or she has also shown other skills, probably while surviving. Someone like that would have first-hand experience with what the inquisitor looks for, so I would say go for it, as long as the background works.
Well, depending on the inquisitor they can recruit whoever they like. You don't necessarily have to be exceptional, merely of interest and / or convenient.
A plague survivor may well have some useful skills, and / or the inquisitor may very well be curious as to how they survived the plague and whatever information they may (or, worse luck, turn out not to) have. They could get recruited simply until the inquisitor decides what to do with them :).
Explacator Holst Morlain
Born on the Hive world of Ultas Sigma in the city of Hive Lorgast 978M41 Holst was the son of a foundry worker by the name of Crassus Morlain.
Crassus was a single father, his wife haveing been killed in a slag heap colapse a few weeks after Holst was borne and being a Foundry worker for the lower class House Bern, he was hardly there for his son though he did his best.
Holst's life was just as normal as any other childs despite this and like may he became an cheep labour source for one of the houses. In this case, like his father, Hourse Bern who employed him as a "Duct Rat", boys and girls who would clean the ducts, vents, rafters and smoke stacks of House Bern's foundrys.
As time wnet he got older and grew to large for the work, as those who survive the nasty job do and was employed once again as one of House Bern's foundry guards for Bern Foundry 13. His size often made him a bit of a joke agmonst his fellow workers who saw him as a great dumb ox, much to Holst's anger.
It was during this time however that Holst's lafe was changed.
As the Thieteenth Back crusade ragered splinter fleets of Chaos warships and warriors undoubtly brook free of the fighting and begain to attack world near and ever far from the Cadian Gate. Ultas Sigma was one of these worlds being close to Cadia itsself.
As the choas forces drew near, led by the Traitor Guard General Pox Narl, released a number of bio weapons on Ultas Sigma.
While Hive Lorgast was running scared Holst rallied his fellow gurads and forced the workers in the plant to stay, with threat of gunning them down if they didin't, lest they spread mor panic or worse illness.
While they kespt the themselves same it was unavoidabul the may would get sick in their crampt home.
As time went on Holst begain to form a retinue of the toughest workers and Guards he could find and begain to organize teams of workers to give aid and support.
Never the less even Holst himsewlf could not hope to be free of hurt and was soon confined to bed after takeing a metal splinter to his left eye and it becomeing infected.
As the chaos forces spread deeper and deeper in to the hive Foundry 13 soon found itself cut off the from the other hold outs.
Finaly after anumber of running battles with chaos forces the Foundry found itself on the verg of attack.
The guards unslung their shock mauls and preped their riot sheilds and with the workers picked up rivet and nail guns, forgeing hammers, shovels and many more nad tools besides the remaining healthy and recovered workers and guards rallied and readyed themselves to do their best to fend off the chaos raiders.
To the surpirse of every one it was Holst who porrved to be the most notabul member among them. Tought he would now be forever scarred, his infected left eye and though it was black and blue and seeping yellow pus from his infection he stood in the front lines holding a nail and ritet gun in each hand and preped to meet the invaders.
In a running, gunning battle through the halls and walkways of Foundry 13 Holst and his fellows seemed lost despite haveing large amounts ammo for their ranged weapons there were just to many cultests and pleauge zombies.
At last with his rivet gun spend and his nail gun distoryed by a stray las gun plast Holst snlung his Shock maul and stood sholder with his fellow guards and workers and prepared to meet the cultests head on in an all out colse combat charge to hopefuly save the day.
In the end it was not nearly enogh and as the guards and workers were drivven back, an unexspected visitor arivved.
Clad in a fine green great coat and armour and a large number of caraopace armoured men and women at his back the visitor charved a bloody trail through the chaos cultists with his warriors.
The foundry workers started to lay down some nail and rivet fire at the horde. Doing thire best to aid their saviours.
The visitor proclaimed him self to be Inquisitor Ira Stannhope of the Ordo Sepulturum. He was surprised to find any one alive as far out as they were. Surviveing chaos this far out from Imperial controlled levels was a nigh on impossable task and deeply impressed Stanhope. With bolth Holst and his fellows Stanhope took holst and the best of his fellow workers and guards, around 20 in all, and desided to second them to Inquisition servance for testing and possibul recrutement.
Over time Holst reseaved a new, albet crude, bionic eye from Ira as a thank you for holding the foundry for the Imperial cause and Ira implanted it to Holst himself.
As the war came to a close and the remain workers were taken on fully in to Ira's staff Ira ordered the complate withdrall of imperial forces from Ultas Sigma, much to the dismay of Holst and his fellows.
While Ultas Sigma was later retaken and Holst and Ira became friends the withdrawll is still a sticking point with them to this day.
This also prompted Ira to promte Holst to Explacator hopeing that the distance that shuch a job would give them would perhaps mend the wound of Ultas Sigma, a vain hope but one that he hopes will pay off one day.
Holst's natural leadership made him and exalent choice for the job and ira granted him the use of a few of his fellow agents even better the one who he had fought with on him homeworld.

Writers Notes: I have been keeping to the "Recruted from the battlefeild" theam as quite honestly I am at a loss for how els a guy like Ira would recrute any one. Hes a battlefeild man himself so i think he would be drawn to those types of people.
On recruitment.
Would Stannhope take defeated foes for questioning? If so that's another avenue for recuitment, allowing a minor servant of a plague cult to seek redemption in service to the Inquisition.
A medicae or orderly might also be sought out by a Sepultrum inquisitor; if a plague is anticipated, it would make sense to watch the hospitals and someone with first-hand knowledge of how the run in the Imperium would be ideal for that work. They'd begin as a convenient native but if they keep their wits in the face of the walking dead, they'd probably be worth taking along to the next investigation.
Taking foes to question them seems like a thing any inquisitor would do, but a cultist would have to really proof his or her loyalties to even be given a chance by anyone who isn;t the most radical inquisitor of the sector, they are tainted after all.
Someone with medical training would make a fine recruit, it s always useful to have someonw who can look after your health with you and when zombies are involved such a person could become even more useful.
I like the story, but I would change the giver of the eye to Ira, the owners of the foundry would have been ruined by such a massive outbreak, they would probably not be handing out bionics anymore, chances also are that they would have fled.
I would like to note that Ira is allready a docter. Haveing two in the warband would be rather pointless. As for the eye I thnk Dol's got the right of it so I wll change it.
