Title: Models for friendly game.
Post by: Bergtorp on September 07, 2012, 09:01:16 AM
Hi.
I've been painting a couple of models to be able to set up a friendly game to introduce the amazing world of Inquisitor to my friends.
So far I've done an Enforcer, a Mutant and a Desperado. The scenario is going to be that each person controls have a different mission, chasing a Rogue Trader. Still working on the Rogue Trader. I wanted to like to know what you guys think. I know that I'm not that good of an photograf.

Your models look great!  Great attention to detail.  The metal looks used and mutants skin is really good.  If it's not a secret I would love to have your recipe.  :)

What your doing to introduce your friends is probably the best way to go about it.  Hopefully afterwards they'll be so excited they'll go out purchase their own.  :)

Beautiful paint jobs showing how great a standard model can be with little to no conversion. ;)

Great paint jobs.

It's nice to see the classic models. With all the conversions and self-sculpts around these days its easy to forget how good the GW range is.

Those models look great, they show that you really are a great painter.

Thanks everybody.

Quickdraw McGraw: If I remember correctly I started with Rotting Flesh, washed with Ogryn Flesh and then drybrushed/highlighted with Elf Flesh. I might also have finally highhighlighted with Bleached Bone. (I haven't updated my old paints with the new ones.)

Thanks Bergtorp, I have a lot of out dated paints too.   ;D  ( By the way if anyone is looking Dakka Dakka has a great compatibility chart.)
That red in the corners of the mutant flesh is that red ink?  And did you use Ogryn flesh on the the security officer's armor too?

Thanks,
Josh

It might have been Devlan Mud. Hmmm. Not really sure. There is no red on the mutants flesh, only on his leg where the screws pierces his leg.

Really, really nice paintjobs on show here.  Cortez is right - the original models are beautiful sculpts - and it's great to be reminded of that here.

That is easily my favourite Barbaretta I've ever seen. Striking! The stubble on Slick is nice as well.

I'm not sure about the Rogue Trader though, I think there are too many primary colours on display here. It's probably too late to change now, but I would have reduced the palette by one of the primary colours, either red, blue or yellow. Having all of them in equal quantities makes the model look too busy, in my opinion.

If it were my model, I would replace all the red with yellow, and only using red sparingly as a spot colour, if at all. It's the reason Barbaretta works for me - limited palette of black, yellow and silver, with red used as a spot colour to draw the eye to the bionics on the face and the detail on the base =]
