I posed myself a rather daft question last night about modelling bolt pistols for 54mm models.
Coincidentally I was on Skype, so Marco, Van Helser and Heroka Vendile have all chipped in already. :P
Basically, I've an idea for getting the general "shape" of a bolt pistol right (namely, carve up a heavy stubber from an Imperial Guard Chimera and stick what I get onto the back end of a large 54mm pistol), but I'm caught a bit short as far as making a good magazine goes.
I can do a belt feed quite happily (as I carved up a Chaos Marine's heavy bolter some time ago and kept the ammo feed), and I can do a strange drum (as I have similarly carved up some Terminator storm bolters), but what if I wanted to make a box / STANAG-sickle magazine instead? I'm not particularly wild about buying a box of Orks just to chop up one shoota, so am I overlooking something here?
Yes, you are (http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/ork-boyz-shoota-c-amp-arm-p-4866.html)
Also this (http://zinge.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=20&product_id=206)
More importantly - how come I don't have you guys on Skype?
Pass.
However, that second link is interesting. Thanks.
actually this one's probably closer to the STANAG, as it's enclosed: http://zinge.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=20_72&product_id=204
The old metal ork nobz used to have a metal shoota with a separate sickle mag, which works well with the INQ scale boltguns. The same goes for the box mag on the old Havoc autocannon.

We only really added each other because of the Dark Heresy skype group (at least it's the main reason I've ever used skype).
