Title: Inquisitor Amos Pureforge and Acolytes
Post by: Hum_Con on November 23, 2012, 05:14:49 PM
The rules are in the rules section, this thread if for models.

Pureforge is made from the bits of Eisenhorn and Covenant that didn't go towards making Inquisitor Grummond. Although the hands and guns come from the Inquisitor bits pack. I wanted him to have the look of James Purefoy in the Solomon Kane film.

Did you have to do much work to get the Covenant legs to fit Eisenhorn's coat as it's always felt slightly awkward fit to me?

That's a great combination of parts. Have you thought about giving him a sword?

He does actually have a sword, you can see the hilt tucked into his belt.

I had to scrape away quite a bit of the back of Covenant's robes to make them fit comfortably under the coat and then pinned his waste.

I see it now after turning the brightness up on my screen. Looks good.

Model number 2, Preacher Bolland Stein.

Obviously a conversion from Preacher Josef. I wasn't going to use him, having already used his body for Salazar Grund, but I managed to pick him up cheap at a convention. His left arm is from a plastic Orc and the shotgun from the Inquisitor bits pack. I mounted his skull artifact on top of his hammer and the book is from the Empire flagellants sprue.

it might just be me or the angle of the pic but the skull on staff looks a bit heavy to the point where it would be unbalancing, could you lengthen the staff a bit under the hand?
i know its painted and everything but i think it could enhance the model? again it might just be the pic though
other than that, cracking job

Pureforge looks great. As does the Preacher. Back in 2001 I bought the covenant and josef set. Its inspiring that people are still coming up with original looking combinaitons of the limited parts range a decade on!

I take your point about the staff. I seriously considered extending it, but wanted to keep the skull on the bottom and wasn't sure if I could remove it without damaging either the skull or the hand. I may look at it again.

Model Number 3 - Crusader Christiana Ravenna

She's just a daemon hunter with the shield from Barbaretta, modified with some green stuff.

She looks great! The red is very nice and rich. I would be tempted to do another wash and highlight on the hair as its a little monotone at the moment and maybe a sepia wash to separate the flesh tone on the face from the hair- it acts like a natural shadow and breaks up the stark contrast.

Cool mini, I think those little touches will bring her in line with the other two.

Nice sculpting on the shield too. I was wondering where the piece was from and had to re-read that it was sculpted over Barbaretta's shield.

What's next?

Some of the monotone effect may be down to the lighting. I have learned to be very sparing with washes and highlights on female faces as the result can be to make them look old. The same is true for white hair, which can easily come out grey.

Last character. Bounty Hunter Malachi the Finder and Fetch.

Just the bounty hunter with hand swaps from Victrix 54mm French, which is also where Bolland Stein's backpack came from.
