The character Emil van Venkman, as presented in whichever Fanatic Online article in which he exists, is carrying an "automatic combat shotgun".
However, I'm looking at the Bounty Hunter model's arm right now, and while I can admittedly see a passing resemblance to something like an AA-12, I'm really not seeing the Combat Shotgun thing considering the length of that thing's barrel.
So what else might I be able to represent with it?

looks more Autogun to me...
That's just it, it puts me more in mind of the FN FAL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FN_FAL) than the supposed shotgun. But surely there are more things I can do than just "large autogun".
Despite not liking the gun as it is, I do think it's pretty good for simple conversions. With the barrel cut off it makes a cool looking autogun. Or you could trim down the magazine and make it a rifle. Swap the magazine and the tip of the barrel and it could be a long las. With a cannister of toxin added it could be a needle rifle.
Is the autogun-ish weapon supposed to be his ACS? What's the one on his back then? Perhaps it's just a little bonus piece?
I think it is -- Emil's character profile mentions only the ACS and a "master-crafted autopistol" (which I doubt is either of the big guns). While I admit that the link between the Bounty Hunter model, and Emil the character, is far more tenuous than where a character has a named model, the character of Emil was written to tie in with the model so that link is meant to be there somehow.
At the moment I'm liking the barrel swap idea the most, though that's solely because there are fewer things to go wrong with a barrel swap than if I were to chop up the magazine as well. :P

It's not out of the question. Take the Saiga-12:

That's the default version with a 23" barrel, as compared to the 21" barrel on an FAL.
But, to be fair, the Saiga-12 we often see is the 17" barrel K ("korotkaya" = "short") variant... or a very fancily dressed up version being referred to as a Callahan Fullbore Autolock.
It's always been an autogun in my mind. VanHelser did a wee conversion of snipping the barrel off to create a sort of slim-line bolter appearance and gave it it's own autogun variant rules.
