I had an idea for a potential warband.
I was thinking of having a Tzeench based sorcerer as the leader and a Thousand Sojs Chaos Space Marine as an occasional bit of muscle and firepower when needed.
My qestion is: How would you workout the mindless nature of the Thousand Sons and the Sorcerer that leads it?
You'd probably have to make the Thousand Son a Familiar to the sorcerer while retaining its status as a separate "character". He'd have to spend an action per turn giving it a directive, but such is the way of things. Should the sorcerer then be taken out of action, however, I'd give the Thousand Son a massive Speed drop.
But rather than bringing a Space Marine into things, why not tone it down, so that we don't have to deal with "AMAGAAD SPACE MARINES"? Perhaps the sorcerer's managed to animate a statue or an empty suit of antique armour, and bind it to his will. Consider that Thousand Sons are already above and beyond what a normal Space Marine would be, whereas a living statue would be a lot cooler and a lot less obviously destructive in the same way as a Thousand Son with its super inferno bolts.
The Thousand Sons idea was because I have a friend who is a Grey Knights fanatic and wants a GK to lead to warband he's planning.
Having an occasional SM to bring out sounded like a good idea. But I do like the idea of animated armour or a statue better. An armoured crumbling Warhammer giant painted to look like marble or maybe corroded copper or bronze would be cool on the table.
Now to figure out its attributes.
It does depend on your group's power level but I do worry that bringing out Space Marines will just unbalance the nature of the game, even if you're using the rewritten rules in Dark Magenta. You then have to wonder why there is a single Grey Knight knocking around and what he hopes to gain from not being with his brothers on Titan. I imagine a very militant Malleus Inquisitor done up in "Grey Knight Style" armour might suit your friend better, as that way nobody ends up going "AMAGAAD SPACE MARINES".
Depending on the scale at which you play, a Giant might be either huge, or extremely huge, but he could work. What about Ushabti?
Having spoken with the friends that were interested in trying Inquisitor, (I've played since it was released) we desided to go with 40k scale.
as for the golem idea, I'm thinking of mixing parts from the fantasy skeletons and space marines to create an undead warrior.
maybe use the daemonhost entry for stats.
Thankyou for your help and imput.
