Right, hullo.
Should probably introduce myself first, i hear that's considered polite in most cultures. ;)
Depending on where i am on the internet i'm Shaman, Adenn, or 'That dick', and in regards to tiny miniature men i'm big on Rogue Trader-era 40k (for the most part.), and Heresy-era Anything. I tend to take on, Odd projects. armies on the go right now in 28mm include Savlar Chem Dogs, Luna Wolves, and Art-style Slaanesh (So, the really really messed up cenobite-style look.), various others. Also dabble in epic.
Picked up a bog-standard Artemis in a trade a bit ago, have always liked the look of inquisitor (Large-scale speaks to me, as someone who converts and screws about with EVERYTHING. I've never left a kit standard.), spurred me to hunt around for bitz and inspiration, hence finding this forum.
Been into the universe for a long time, soft spot for the Weird stuff nobody else really touches on. MUCH more of a modeller/painter than a gamer, in all senses.
That said, while i love the idea of inquisitor (Have dabbled with the FFG roleplaying games, i'm not much of a 'shoot this, now move here' sort.), and would love to get into it gameplaywise, i'm absolutely focusing on just making some cool stuff for now, which i figure i might as well post up here as somewhere it's likely to be appreciated. Maybe someday i'll have some stuff built and meet up with some people to try the whole malarkey out.
I've absolutely got the intent to make more interesting stuff (Savlar chem dog guardsman, Dark Mechanicum priest, things like that) and am grabbing a few lots of inquisitor stuff in trades to build up my bitz box, but for now, what i have is an artemis. I'm aware that (Understandably) the new-guy trope in these parts is to make a spehs mehreen, and to be honest i would hate to field one in an actual game, but hey, It's a good way to break into 54mm, and make something cool to go on a shelf. :P
Anyway, onwards.
Always loved the Space Sharks (Who doesn't?), and liked what Forge World did with them with the whole Astra Carcharadon thing, so i'm going to do the nice (Relatively) easy goal of turning Artemis into one.
Eventually i'd love to do a luna wolf captain, but that's a lot of sculpting for the MKIV and i'd rather start simple.
So, main plan is to repose (Obviously), add details, remove all deathwatchness (I'm absolutely definitely positively not saving money that i have no intent of spending on certain replacements for this purpose.), sculpt my entirely legitimately acquired helmet into a MKIV bucket (Considered beaky. Will decide later, i suppose), and swap the power sword for a chainsword. If i can't get a bitz pack one of those, i'll just scratchbuild it. I'm passably good with plasticard and GS, not to the point of being comfortable making a full fig but i can chuck a few bitz together.
Also likely to be pinning the head, so i can swap between the helmet and the bare head, which i'm filing the hair of down and replacing with a mohawk, as all space marines should have mohawks.
Anyway, pics of work so far, reposed the legs (Had to break out the dremel for this, been a while since i had to use that on anything other than a full-scale prop, i'm surprised how hard inquis stuff is to work with.)

Think i got the pose fairly natural, considering the drunken ballet dancer pose it came in.
Then popped the torso on, after lengthening the waist sliiightly since the proportions seemed off to me.

(Ignore the scale figs, someone was curious.)
Sculpting in the tubing on the legs tonight, plus the mohawk, then adding some pteruges once that's dry (It's the heresy nut in me, pteruges are the shiznit.), will have a better pic of the body then.
Do of course welcome opinions, and would much like to not be chased from the forums with pitchforks and holy water for starting with a space marine, not a crippled ex-valhallan half eldar veteran now enlisted as an Astropath's concubine.
WELCOME TO THE CONCLAVE!
Space Marine is far less troubling than half-eldar Valhallans! Though an Astropath's concubine, hmmm... There aren't enough concubines around, I think. In Inquisitor, of course. Yes. Inquisitor...
I'm now really curious, where's the other large scale Marine from? The style and pose is similar to the old super-scale FW Marine... but he's 120mm tall.
I'm liking the Marine so far, and the Space Sharks are a fun bunch to work with. Gonna give the bare head the sharkgrin smile?
:P Thanks!
Ze other marine is an old Staff Gift, i got it in a trade (For very little :D) as it was broken to bits, snapped above the shins, weapons broken away, chips all over. Had to do a full repair job, resculpt a lot, and leave some chips as damage as i'm a lazy bastard.
Still, given i got it for basically nothing, i'm happy with it, and am now halfway through painting him up as Brother Pédro of the Crimson Fists. For the emperor, ése.
Bare head i doubt i'll mess with too much, i'm not confident to resculpt an entire mouth ;) but i've successfully performed a haircut.
updates!

and ze head,

Probably going to give the sides of the head a going over with green stuff to smooth it out as well, but i think i got a pretty space-sharky mohawk going there. That head, with a light grey skintone and jet black eyes, should click the whole Carcharadon thing pretty well.
Next order of business, make him some Pteruges and start messing about with detailing, aside from that i can't do much until i get those bits i'm not getting.
looking good so far, was randomly thinking maybe make the mohawk a little higher at the front/middle? kind've like a shark fin?
Long time no post! this is going up on a few other forums too but i figured as i have the little blog here i might as well. I've been way way busy with other projects and moving lately, but i managed to get a couple of big lots of random inquisitor bitz in trades, so i figured i'd use it to spur back into working on stuff!
(https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t31/1913217_10202564333903136_1037633671_o.jpg) Got this lot in exchange from some spare 40k stuff from a few people, mostly going in the bitz box or ebay but there's enough here to start on the marine again (included a recast helmet i can modify), plus bits to do a decent guardsman and techpriest (Though i might need one of tezla's left arms or something of the robed sort, planning to scratchbuild a tech-axe but do need a robed arm, my GS skills on cloth are atrocious! If anyone has one, happy to trade...)
Also very happily included in the trade, the guy believed he was a rogue trader but i got -

Missing the spare pistol/sword and one of the holsters, plus a few other things, though i found his sheath added to one of the guardsmen.
Starting on the marine again tonight and dunking some of the inquis lot in dettol, hopefully have updates soon!
Update!
Got to work on the shark sooner than anticipated.
Roughed out pose, built chainsword, modified chainsword, started sculpting MKIV bucket, was going to magnetise heads but honestly prefer helmet so much to bare w/ mohawk that just decided to glue. Ensures right pose all the time anyway.
Bucket needs to be tidied up/sharpened, and need to add some forehead detail, either studs around the brow or an aquila. Debating shark fin.

C&C Welcome!
Edit - Also decided to name his Nanaue, in homage to that finest example of sharky goodness, King Shark from the secret six.

The Marine is looking good so far and I'm rather jealous that you've got a Kal Jerico in that pile of bits :(.
Nanaue i believe is done! sharpened up the faceplate, tidied it, added forehead emblem, reposed right arm a bit, added detail/pouches, new base

Will hopefully paint him, er, someday.
Looking good so far!
you going to freehand an icon on the shoulderpad?
what's your plan for the other pad?
looking great though!
Ta!
Actually got a carcharadons transfer sheet, going to sneakily add a RT Space Sharks symbol to the hidden kneepad but as far as i can tell some of the tank-sized carchie transfers should fit perfect on the left shoulder, with some damage from the boltgun crater. other pad will be detailed (Poss. tribal/maori-style designs, probably freehand) plus his name across the scroll. :D
Little surprise update!
Much as i love the major creativity in the more esoteric designs for skitarii types, i've always been a big fan of the idea of them basically being military tech-adepts in style, more than combat cyborg dealios. Figure those would be a bit more specialist.
So i built a skitarii! if my oldfluff serves, i think the name for this type is, hyspasist? Standard lasgun type, though he'd be a praetorian (not big, tracked servitor praetorian, elite hyspasist dealio praetorian. Not read my old tech-guard stuff in a long, loooong time.) ;)
Still have to do a couple of minor details (add mechanicus symbol to necklace e.t.c.), but otherwise i'm happy with him.

Next up (after i finish the skitarii necklace) is a guardsman and chaos guard, though thanks to gav's word bearer i am now a solid on doing a chaos marine! And toying with doing an armoured, brutal radical inquisitor.
This is a hell of a rabbit hole i've stumbed into, isn't it... started off just wanting to do a marine. ::)

One does not simply make just one Inquisitor model.
I'd note I have been reading this thread, I'm just generally quiet in the modelling section - I'm not a fan of making "cool model" posts and my P&M advice tends to involve far too much green stuff for most people's tastes.
But I still thought you should know I'm reading.
Cool model!
;D More fruitfully... The rifle is awesome, especially the stock, as are the various bits of added armour, but the cable seems a bit... static? it might need to obey gravity a bit more.
As someone who has attempted (and largely failed) to repose the Space Marine figure I think you have done a stirling job. Your GS work is also very good.
Cheers folks! :D I appreciate the interest 'n compliments! Especially on the GS work, i very rarely dabble in it.
@DapperAnarchist, definitely getcha there, have just bent and adjusted and reglued it. It's not exactly hanging limp, given i think they'd be fairly rigid, but it's looking a lot more natural now. Good eye. :)
Cheers for the comment on the rifle as well, quite pleasantly surprised with how that came out. not quite a hellgun, but teched-up enough for a skitarii i reckon!
I'll be priming these guys soon, don't paint that often (many many builds, conversions, a grand total of two painted 28mm minis in the last year) but these guys have me stoked to work on so i'll get to them ASAP.
Iiiiiiit Begiiiiins!

My adventures in inquisitor (And everything else really) got curtailed by having to move suddenly, but i've just gotten around to starting painting nanaue! More updates soon!
i always love seeing artemis next to other models, hes just so darn big! :) changes all look good, chainsword and helmet especially
Ta! Aye, agreed, i LOVE how much bulk artemis has compared to humans, especially once you get him out of his tipsy ballerina pose.
Quick update, still very WIP but i had the camera out so may as well post!
Oooh, that pose, that chainsword... He's so wonderfully vicious looking!
coming together very nicely
Its looking very cool so far, awesome repositioning of the limbs, very natural looking. I feel it's such a shame that the game rarely allows such powerful characters as space Marines, especially with all the fantastic conversions showcased on the 'clave. Great job.
Leeetle bit off topic, but how does Inquisitor do at handling two Marines fighting each other? I quite like the idea of 'ordinary' humans fighting and getting stuff done around the destruction of two Angels of Death battling...
i'm game (http://buildyourimagination.co.uk/minis/gallery/inq/firstfounding/brothers.jpg)!
