Title: Inq Lasweapon set??
Post by: Bloodpact on January 19, 2014, 12:48:50 AM

Is it my imagination, or did these never come out? I found the sculptor on deviantart, he also did the chainweapons and boltweapons pack. Those lasguns are beautiful!

They are, indeed, one of the various Inquisitor unreleases.

They appeared individually on eBay a while back, and rather than buy them for the community to make casts of as was discussed here, someone swept in and bought them up for their own use.  Not before some members here decided to make him pay through the nose for with incremental increases in maximum bids...

wasn't it Olivaso who made a point of posting they'd be sitting in his private collection; i recall Charax whacked in a massive bid quite close to the end...

T'was indeed Oliveraso. While I can appreciate that there are collectors of the unique*, he wasn't exactly low-key about the fact they were just going to sit on his shelf.

*After all, my primary reason for refusing people who've asked if I'd cast up copies of some of my sculpts has always been that I want to keep my character miniatures unique. (That said, I may finally get my arse into gear on actually making some sculpts specifically for casting).

Still, I can't quite understand the appeal of paying £82 for a single Inquisitor lasgun just so it can sit on a shelf...

indeed, it's not even like they'll be worth anything much in the future either.

Yeah, I remember Charax and I tag teamed on that ebay thing to raise the price to absurd levels....

Such fun! ;D

I'd think it was petty and mean if those lasrifles weren't so damn nice.
Terrible waste...

Marco - I think the more 54mm sculptors working with ][ in mind the better, and I've liked most of what I've seen of your sculpts so far.
Dooo eeeeeet.

This might seem silly, but does anybody think it would be worth contacting the guy and seeing if we can get him to sculpt something similar as a commission? I know i'd certainly have a look at chucking some money in for some new 54mm scale weapon options!

especially as once moulded the originals would be returned!
i've got a *huge* chunk of the 54mm back catalogue sat waiting for when i'm financially stable enough to setup a vac-chamber and buy compound :)

i know Skyfall is progressing but Dionzi has alot on his plate atm...

Thanks Gav!

I'm slowly learning how to be more effective with my plasticarding and ranged weapon design, so I'll be working on my own versions of the lasweapons pack: if anyone has ideas (for generics rather than GW), please feel free to e-mail me sketches! dionzi[at]skyfallminiatures[dot]com :)

If it was Mr Buddle i shall have a word, as i work the other side of the same room as him ;)

I'm pretty sure it's not Steve Buddle. The deviantART page is under the name of Sean Harrison, who claims to be in America-land and is currently sculpting parts for Privateer Press.

That said, if people are truly interested in having equivalents, I would have little difficulty replicating those.

The three part sprue of stock pistol and barrel to the left of the bayonet sprue is perfect for something I'm working on annoyingly. So Marco if you could do an equivalent of that sprue I would be eternally grateful.
