Title: Project Restore 54mm
Post by: greenstuff_gav on September 09, 2014, 07:44:31 PM
so, looks like i may have fifty quid or so coming and hopefully i'll be buying some silicone and resin!
i've been collecting 54mm stuff and trading some high-value toys for 'em to keep 'em safe for this very situation!
some are incomplete ( Josef and Barberetta are missing arms for example) but would the community have any input on where to start?
i'd not be making money off've 'em (i'd work out cost) but there would need to be a transfer to cover materials; hopefully enough finance to cast the next one and so on till we're back up to availability!

piiics of the collection:

When you say does the cminity have any input on where to start, what do you mean exactly?
There are certainly a few models in there that I'd love to get - the callidus assasin and Tay water caste mainly! :)

i don't have space or finance for mass production but i'd love to get 'em all moulded but would happen in fits and starts; will do 2 guys first, Covenant and maybe another; having a mould and resin i'd see which ones'd be interest to the community to help buy more silicone...

Gav, send me a list of the missing parts and I'll see what I can do to help. As long as you can post them back to me that is!

I aslo have some pretty rare parts if you need to borrow them for a short amount of time.

I've got a nice big ol' multi melta for one, amongst other rare bits.

Is the idea to then create two or three moulds/casts of certain characters?

i havent got any of the tau, the pure strain genestealer or the navigator, so somewhere in the middle of those would be awesome

if you can post a list of bits/models you dont have i can have a look through my stuff, as long as i get them back
off the top of my head got stuff like the chaos henchman upgrade, eversor, most of kal jericho, slick, some guns, a servo skull or 3 etc

Not sure there's anyone I have the full bits for that you don't already have.

EDIT:
correction. I have an Inq Jena and an eversor assassin untouched. Plus Techpriest Tezla's Chainaxe right arm and the curved chainsword (which has a winged =][= on the guard), maybe some other rarer bits too if I dig out my box.

I have the little blank familiar lying about somewhere (the one with the enormous head and the robes). Let me know if this project goes any further and you can borrow him for a mould.

Gav, if you are still after bits for this project, let me know what you need, as I finally have most of the GW range, except for the 4 citizens, vindicare assassin, Inquisitor Scarn, half the genestealer hybrids/magus, evicerator, multimelta, bolt weapons booster pack, Valhallan head, 2 of the moulded bases, bounty hunter's arms. Of course, I am keen to get my hands on these remaining figures, but they don't come up very often on Ebay.
Where did you get the resin Tau Air Caste figure?

i've got the Valhallan booster still in blister :)
also a couplea bases; which ones were you after?

i'm looking at getting Covenant + a conversion kit / booster moulded next month after i can afford silicone so can start getting things in circulation
The Plan© is to make conversion kits for those missing 'em (convenant, eisenhorn, jena etc) so each figure will be the original plus spare bits; for those who help i can arrange casting specific bits to help their collections!

the Air Caste was done by our own Kaled and cast up by myself (albeit without arms!); only about 8 exist and i'll be donating one to the IGT15 prize fund!

I definitely have Lucretia's pistol arm, I'm 99% sure I have a full Scarn, and there's a chance that I have a full hive ganger minus the head (sorry, I'm not willing to dismantle a base-coated mini on deck to be painted just to recover the head).

I do have the Kroot conversion as well (not the original, however, those parts did not come with it), though not all the bits are present (specifically the skull and pistol). Let me look into the Water Caste too, I have at least one of the heads (did not know it came with two).

Disclaimer: these are all precious, precious parts to me, but I'd be willing to part with most of them for the greater good. PM me about specifics if you'd like some/all of them.

Gav, I can supply much of this for you (let me know how I can get them to you):

MISSING BITS
Sevora - got
Water Caste (missing 2 heads + drone) - I've got the drone but only 1 of the 3 heads - the one on the right on the sprue (see http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/File:Inquisitor_54mm_Tau_Water_Caste.jpg) - looks like it is one of the 2 you need.
Air Caste (missing arms) - can't help you there - ask Kaled!
Black (missing left arm) - got
Bravius (Barbaretta conversion) missing pistol arm - got

MISSING
Familiar (I'm sure I have one somewhere) - got if you need it
Crime Lord - got
Vindicare - no
3x workers - no - does this mean you have one of the 4 of them [sharp intake of breath!]
Citizens - aren't these the same as the above "workers"?
Scarn - now GOT him
Thorian - got
Bodyguard - got except the 5-accessories sprue, bionic hook arm and shoulder pad
Tezla (Gruss conversion) - got
Repentia  - got (but she's a poor attempt at a Sister of Battle)
Simeon (Damien conversion) - got
Unbound Host - got
Fabian (Quovandius conversion) - got
Bloodhound (slick conversion) - got, except the 2 pistol grips for holsters
Hive Ganger - got
Van Yastobaal - got
Jaxon - got
Murke - got
Kroot + Conversion kit - got both

Kudos to Kaled on the fab Air Caste Tau.

I've got about 10 of the lasgun+hands that used to be attached to the Valhallan, but just the gun/hand part (A GW manager used the arms for his Blood Axe Orks, and gave me the guns). Unfortunately, I've got them in my parents attic, in a box, in a plastic bag - which is also in a different country. But I'll be there for a few days in late June and early July, so I'll try and dig them up then and post a couple on.

i've just taken delivery of 2kg of resin so i can stick some figures into the prize pot for IGT15 :)

hoping to get silicone next month as fundage is tight :(
i've got a bag of weapons from Jared that Dionzi was gonna cast about 2 years ago so they're first into the silicone, was thinking one of the actual Inquisitors to see what quality is like with my current setup (i suspect i'll need a vacuum chamber); anyone got any preferences?

Just one of the regular sculpts, like Covenant or Tyrus or the like ( although I'll pay a small fortune for the 28mm Eisenhorn in resin).
I have the body and legs of the unbound deamonhost, which you can have free of charge, btw. Just post me your adress and they'll go in the mail next week.

Pretty certain that I have all the versions of the Tau water caste head. Don't have anything else that redsunz hasn't got however.

would there be much call for the 28mm Eisenhorn?
may throw bot hthe 54mm and the 28mm in one pack, save me having to make a booster pack!

Dunno, but since a lot of the 'clavers play inq28mm as well I suppose he would be a welcome addition.

Gav, I've now got a 54mm Necron Warrior (off Ebay recently) to add to the list when you are ready.  It is nicely made and stands 60mm tall, so a good scale for Inquisitor, if a slightly obscure character for inquisitors to meet. I understand it is not a GW figure. I don't know the official manufacturer/designer.  If anyone has any details on them, I'd be interested to hear. (I am hoping the photo link works!)

Personally, I find the 28mm Eisenhorn to be rather underwhelming for a limited edition model, but others may feel differently.

For my part, I've been half tempted to sculpt and mould a less disappointing 28mm "Negre Grisehonor" model - possibly to hand out as future event prizes, I don't know.

Yep the arm coming out of the chest look of the sculpt has never really done it for me either. Personally I think weapons and conversion bits (space marine helmets  ;D ) would be a great place to start

Agreed. While I am personally interested in the Eisenhorn model being made available, I think that weapons, hands and other conversion bits would serve the community a lot more.

Did this get anywhere? I'm catching up on threads I've missed and this seems like a great idea.

i tried to do Covenant (http://buildyourimagination.co.uk/minis/gallery/inq/recast/cov01.jpg) but my lack of a vac-chamber stalled the project; i'm working on getting the complete collection (almost done!) so i'm hoping a new job will give me time to build a chamber and i can get things rolling; of course, i'm hoping GW re-release 54mm but i'm prepared just in case :)

That covenant looks pretty good actually, just needs a little touching up. I wouldn't hold your breath about a 54mm re-release though :P
