Title: Restore 54: Familiar
Post by: greenstuff_gav on May 16, 2015, 08:45:07 PM
Welcome!
as i've mentioned i'm looking at putting the 54mm stuff back into production and while Covenant is gonna be first inline, i had some room in a mould and threw in the Familiar

while not perfect casting due to lack of vacuum facilities i'm able to produce 'em for £5 a pop with UK postage; will paint one up without fixing work, but would people think that's a fair price for the slightly ropey quality?

regardless next up is a more-inquisitor-themed profile (as the official profiles were bananas)

still, thought you guys'd be interested!

More than fair (said the man who just bought one for 20 quid on evilbay).

Plenty fair enough to me. At that price a horde of Jawa-like creatures isn't out of the question!

I'd easily purchase three for that price (maybe four or five).

i cast another one up and sprayed him red; as you can tell the bubbles ended up in different places each and every time!

thankfully they're not too difficult to fix  but until i can buy / make a vac chamber it's the quality all my reproductions'd be!

I, for one, would be totally fine paying as-is as they'd all be fairly heavily converted. Just let me know, especially if the purchase would help fund a vac chamber.

I'd be cool with those holes, they look easily fixed. And at 5 pounds it's really not an issue.

just debating a few details (do i set up a separate paypal address so i can keep the restore project self-financing, do i get hold of a bulk supplier of jiffy bags, what would postage to various countries cost, how am i gonna stop arse-holes reselling for massive profit and so on) and trying to setup a decent area to work from; as i only cast 1 at a time and a few people are after several i gotta have my setup right :)

at Spartan we'd throw out better quality stuff and that always makes me nervous to see imperfections but am glad people aren't as concerned as i am! :)

Well in my humble opinion you're doing the game one of the biggest favours on this side of 2010, namely providing us with what GW only managed to do for a very short time.
While I love when people use other ranges for their warbands, I believe that part of the games problem has always been the rather limited range 'canonical' of miniatures (for lack of a better term). Okay, always might be a bit strong, but I think most of us can agree that it hasn't helped the game that a large fragment of the miniatures designed for the system has remained on the fringe, available only through excessive amount of cash on ebay.

I for one would love to donate a small amount of pounds to a paypal account for the startup. Sort of like a mini-kickstarter to get the ball rolling. If that's how you end up, that is. How we then stop idiots profiteering on your hard work on ebay I don't know...

I would be up for one or two of these plus future items once you know how you are going to do it
Regarding eBay scalpers, if the models are available cheaply somewhere other than eBay then hopefully the eBay price will come down as well?

I'd also be more than happy to buy a few of these guys!

Good luck to the project and Ill certainly take them with the bubbles, as converting them would be no problem!
