anyone know of a source of chainswords in 52mm?
GW used to sell a chain weapons booster, so you might find one on eBay or the ASR. Otherwise, check out the 28mm range - you should be able to make one, perhaps by cutting up a couple of chainswords and sticking them together.
52mm?
try the Big List O' Links (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=22.0)...
My entry into the Modelling Contest (Kaled's Sig) this year had a chainsword made from 2 ork chainswords glued together, an idea copied from Saussures Imperial Fist.
Didn't someone sculpt and cast their own?
don't know if it does help you, but i build a chainsword for one of my figures. It came out to be quite an easy task and the result is okey, IMAO.
you can see it here http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=152.0 (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=152.0)

I think that might have been me.
I made a 'chainsword' which is roughly equivalent in size to Malicant's. I've also made a few chain-axes and a few chainblade attachments for the odd rifle here and there, but they weren't really suitable for casting.
Malicant of course comes with one, but of an impressive size that may not be suitable.
They're not so difficult to custom build with the right parts - my brother put together a decent chain halberd using the spiky parts from saurus hand weapons. Given the cartoon weapon syndrome of 40K, I can see some 40K chainswords fitting well into 54mm.
I made the one for this (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/ratbag23/FemaleGanger1.jpg) model by splicing two plastic Space Marine chainswords together.
This (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/ratbag23/ThosisTargen1.jpg) guy's chainsword was made by cutting a bit out of the one from the Malicant model to make it a more reasonable size.
Saussure made a great huge chainsword by splicing two or three ork ones together.
I'm sure that there are other options, but it all depends on what style aesthetic (advanced/crude/stylish/functional) and size (one or two handed, large or small model) you are shooting for.

beside that the chainsword is a great job, i love that figure in general. Can you tell me where you got it from?
thanks.
It's a slightly converted Reaper Master Series miniature;

If you are willing to wait a little bit- next Molniya mini will have something like that in accessories.

Will that be one of the 'Horde of the Khans of The Black Sun (TM) or 'Cults of the Lords of the Four Vortices' then? (I'm looking forward to seeing them.)
Haha! My buddy comes up with all the names- I just sculpt them. My guess- the Lords of Vortices ;D
I hope I can get into that, unless I get swamped with freelance- oh well, that is how it goes usually.
