Title: Vehicles of the Inquisition (add your own)
Post by: Tessio Niri on November 26, 2009, 04:04:46 PM
Hi All

I have just had a look through all the current threads and couldn't find one on anyones inquisitor Vehicles like the one on the old clave. So I've have took it unpon myself to create this thread.

Everyone please feel free to add to this thread, it would be good to have a thread of everyones vehicle projects (completed or not). I will try to work on my Rhino again and get some pictures up myself in the near future.

Regards T.

I'm afraid if you want to see my flyers properly you'll have to come along to the IGT or some other event.  That said, an article on them may find it's way into Dark Magenta...

Thought I'd be the first to post their vehicle WIP since I did start the thread. Hopefully it might encourage others to start posting or even start their own projects.

Here is my =][= scale Rhino, however, I'm considering whether or not to turn it into a Repressor since I think this fits better into the =][= theme. Since you are more then likely to see Arbites using them to suppress hive riots etc. What do people think??

Anyways heres progress so far. Have worked on it a bit today, but thats all in quite a while.

C&C welcome

Wow! A repressor would be cool (I forget exactly what one is but assume some sort of arbites rhino variant with a gun of somesort on. A rino would be more versitile though, as everyone uses them not just the arbites. Could you make interchangable top peices?

That's just awesome.  I've long thought about an Inquisitor sized Rhino but not had a clue where to start.

Thats taking shape well, is it a form of plasticard or a type of foam board?
I can see how it is =I= scale but theres no way it would take 10x =I= scale space marines, lol.

Heres a small update with my progress. Toying with the idea of making the interior but i'm not that sure. Any suggestions??

For those not familiar with the SOB repressor, It has a higher cabin compartment with fire ports on both sides, a capola mounted stormbolter and a pintle-mounted heavy flamer. It is generally used in a anti-insurgency role by the forces of the Ordo Hereticus and the Adeptus Arbites. Sometime come with holding cells in the troop cabin.

... INTERIOR!!! Unless its way to much effort... But at 54mm scale, effort should be put in.

Could I suggest that you keep weapons swapable? I'm pretty sure heavy flamers would mostly be used by the SOBs, though the Arbites would bolt them on occasionally I think maybe a grenade launcher would be more appropriate as it's ammunition provides some flexibility with lethality.

Here is the latest progress on my rhino. You may notice that its not the original one posted, I wasn't happy with my choice of materials so I started again with something a bit more durable and I think it turned out allot better.

So far there are only the tracks to do and the drivers hatch. I do intend to make a dozer blade and possibly an extension piece to turn it into a repressor.

Heres some pictures:

All the doors and hatchs are hinged and working. As in the storm bolter.

Thanks to DapperAnarchist for giving me the drive to make the interior. He is right at 54mm effort should be made.

Please leave C&C, its all welcome.

Some vehicle rules were released - there's a copy in the usual place (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=34.0).  I've never used them so can't comment on how well they work.

BTW, have people seen the new Elysian Tauros Venator from Forge World?  That would make an excellent vehicle for games of Inquisitor.

Yeh that does look like a really good vehicle for inquisitor. Dune buggy with a hell of a big gun. Please don't give me ideas  ;D

Absolutely stunning work on the Rhino.

What material did you use for the floor? (and where did you get it?)
Title: Re: Vehicles of the Inquisition (add your own)

Cheers kierkegaard.

The floor material is just aluminium mesh used for car body repair. You can pick it up at halfords for £1.80ish. I've been trying to find some heavier gauge mesh for some raised walkways but this stuff is ok if it has plenty of supports.

I would point out that the first set of rules was later supplemented by a set of improvements, so if anyone wants to use them, make sure you check out both.

Heck, I don't even own Elysians and I still want one.

I think I have more or less finished the rhino as modelling in concerned with the drivers hatch completed and the tracks. So here are some pictures:

And I also started work on a dozer blade but have to work on how i'm going to attach it so it can be removed when not wanted.

Now I need some help on working out what colour I'm going to paint it, so any help would be good.

There is so much 54mm win going on here I might explode. That is unbelievable in terms of attention to detail and quality of build. Truly excellent work.

Have you painted this yet?  Did you individually cut out each tread?
Title: Re: Vehicles of the Inquisition (add your own)
Post by: Tessio Niri on July 08, 2010, 08:02:17 PM
No I havn't painted it yet. I still have a few tweaks here and there to do and then need to get the drive to paint it up. Each tread has indeed been cut individually (It took bleeding ages, but worth it).

Another reason I havn't painted it yet is that I have been working on a few other projects, one of which is another =][= scale vehicle which I have a least half completed.

Can you take a couple more close-ups of the treads and details?  All this is helping mine get done soooo much faster!

Thanks in advance!

My first thought was chimera? but my tank knowledge is very lacking! Simply superb stuff though, you have a fantastic talent and I would bet patience also! Can't wait to see both both fully done and painted :)

It is indeed a standard-pattern Chimera. If I may, I would suggest making the turret a little bigger, but feel free to disregard if I'm wrong and it should be that size.

As I got home from uni yesterday I was fishing through my loft and found a bag of warhammer and 40K goodies that I'd forgotten about and one of those was a fully unbuilt Chimera!! Very pleased as lots of bits to use and having looked at the turret, I agree with metelleus that it could do with being a tad larger but still an amazing model :)

The Omnissiah is pleased!

Each tread is (basically) made of 3 pieces?

chimera is looking really good, are you going to detail the interior or just close all the hatches?
