Title: Advice for new players/GMs?
Post by: foxphoenix135 on December 27, 2009, 02:23:46 AM
Hello conclavers, I am trying to get some tips for starting my gaming group on Dark Heresy / Rogue Trader. I have never been a GM before but by default that role is going to fall onto my shoulders. I have a copy of the core rules on order and in the mail... any tips for starting players/gms? Any thing aside from the rulebook (and some different types of dice I imagine) that I'll be needing for my play group? Can I use 28mm models from the 40k range? How is it different from the old specialist game Inquisitor?

Any help would be much appreciated.

To play Dark Heresy, you just need pencil, paper and some ten-sided dice. No models required at all, unless you want them. Dark Reign has a good line in Dark Heresy GMing tips. Inquisitor is quite radically different from DH: Dark Heresy is a fairly standard RPG, in which the players take the roles of lowly acolytes in the service of an Inquisitor, while Inquisitor is a narrative skirmish wargame, with roleplaying elements.
