Title: Mancunian Conclave
Post by: Kaled on February 17, 2010, 09:26:52 AM
With the Spring Conclave still a good few weeks away, I was wondering if anyone in the north-west fancied meeting for a game in the near future?

Work and other commitments mean it'd have to be Friday afternoon or Saturday, but I'm happy to drive to meet people (or if there's just a few of us, I have a board and a bit of terrain so we can play at my place).

Wrong side of the Pennines, but, sure.  It's not too far for me (Wakefield), and it'd be good to get some Inquisitor practice.  I can do most Saturdays: well, 20th March onwards anyway, before that the calendar's looking a bit busy.

I have met you before at previous IGTs/Conclave meets, but I don't remember you and I'm sure you don't remember me. ;)

Not soon, but I will put myself down as a Mancunian Conclave attendee in the early summer - I'll be spending some time in Chester, and a good bit of that time visiting Manchester, to investigate colleges.

Depends when and where. I live Preston area (so not THAT close to manchester), and I can't drive, but if it were on a weekend, or some other agreeable time - I really want to get more into Inquisitor, and i've got to start somewhere.

I've never actually played at GW Preston (I rarely go into the store), but am happy to meet there for a game sometime. It's a pretty small shop - do you know if we'd be restricted to playing on certain days? If you don't, we'll have to check before arranging a game...

I'm not entirely sure myself. Truth be told, I don't tend to go into GW Preston that often either. Still,I have to say, I'm an absolute beginner, having only played 2 real inquisitor games before, so if we did play a game, i may not be so up on the rules (i've read the rulebook - but reading the rules and playing the game are two different things).

Anyway, I'm still finishing my model for Zophar, but once i've done him, I can make a couple of henchies, and then I'd be ready, so it may be a little while yet. Still, if we're both around Preston, then it should be easy enough to arrange once I have made my models.

Sounds good to me. Get some models built and we'll arrange a game - I'm happy to help you with the rules and characters etc. Just hope the store isn't too strict on using non-GW models...

Just a general not to the Northwest Inquisitor gamers who may read this. I phoned up GW Preston and asked whether it would be possible at some point to use any of their boards for a game of Inquisitor and their answer was 'I'm sorry but we can't play any specialist games in store'. Just thought I'd keep everyone updated.

Interesting - because in the odd occasion I have been in there and have mentioned Inquisitor they've said that people in store have played it in the past (but that's going back a year or two).

We have played it in store previously, but there's been a bit more strictness recently.
That said, there are a few people looking at getting (back) into the game, so if you make yourself known I'm sure we can sort something out.

I should warn you that most people other than me have 28mm rather than 54 (and for that matter I'm not sure where my 54mms are - somewhere I've got a few, though).
