Ok so im moving back to the Uk soonish and am hoping to run a small campaign with my mate.....hes going to be using a Witch Hunter of my design that enjoys lurking around in the shadows, working to unearth heretics and the such like from the dark...before springing a trap that brings the Inquisitions justice down on the B*st*rds....and im hoping to use another Ordo Hereticus agent....but one that comes from Recongrator beliefs.....so this is what id like to know....
may my Character be posing as a crime boss.....as in he is the head of a large Crime Gang that is doing "naughty" things and the other Puritan Inquisitor is investigating them...not knowing that they are really a simple front that allows the Recongrator to get close to a gun smuggling, drug running, hooker pimping Chaos Cult........
Well?
Sounds good. But - Recongregators usually go for the top of the Imperial heirarchy in a particular place. Is this tied in? Or it the Radical just doing standard work, in a Radical way?
It's a classic plot, the puritan charging in and running across the radicals carefully laid plans. Bear in mind, though, he'd have to go a bit beyond the activities of your average crime boss to attract the personal attention of an inquisitor.
Well the Radical is in fact attempting to get the truth from the other Gang.....about a recent Viral outbreak that has turned 30% of the population into a Zombie-Esque thing......hmmm....maybe i need to do a tad more thinkin.....
Yeah, the set-up is fine, that's all you need for the action of the campaign story, but you need more of a motivation for the Recongregator - as Myriad and DA say, currently it's pretty small-time.
The virus outbreak hook might work quite well.
Perhaps the Recongregator has decided that the best way to find the terrorist cell that released the virus is to become The Guy that finds people stuff, then all he'll have to do is wait for leads to come to him.
If your Recongregator's agents make themselves the main middlemen of the entire underworld of that planet, eventually they can't help but get wind of something useful, and help shut down the cell.
Unfortunately it may also make the Recongregator visible enough that someone who knows what to look for - your other Inquisitor, for example - can see the influence of a powerful individual behind it all.
And after that, if you feel like storing that setting to re-use another day, you could play out the collapse of the Recongregator's network under the pressure of the investigating Witch Hunter.
