It has been a while since I posted any new models, but I have recently caught the painting bug (after losing it for a few months) and I have finished a few bits and pieces.
First up, the Valhallan with the scatter laser that has been in the wip stage for a year or more.

Next, a couple of additions to my genestealer cult.

Some of you may remember this guy. (http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f330/ratbag23/xavier1.jpg) Well, he has recently had a tune up (washed with Gryphonne Sepia, highlighted with Bleached Bone/Skull White,) and now he has a lackey to carry his massive sword for him.

Finally, a hammer weilding crusader in armour that could be counted as power or carapace, depending on the situation.

I hope that you like them.
Woah, you really have caught the bug again haven't you?!
They're all good, but the Valhallan is excellent - as is the lackey. The 'stealers are great as well. The crusader's armour is a little clean for my liking - I'd have given him a load of purity seals, parchments, scroll cases, skulls etc. Still, he's an impressive looking model. The painting is some of your best work too - the blue robes on the hybrid are particularly good.
I love 'em.
I think the Valhallan's scatter laser (where have I seen that before? ;) ) needs another wash with Devlan Mud. And I agree with Dave about the Crusader (how long did it take you to smooth off all the detail on that armou!?). But the job's definitely a good 'un.
R.
Love the sword bearer, although they're all impressive models.
The Valhallen is good, and nicely understated. He looks worried, as if wondering why he's going to need that scatterlaser.
I can't really say much that hasn't been said...
... but I'll go for it anyway.
Firstly, the crusader's arms are rather on the short side - very roughly, when the arms are held to the side, the elbows are level with the bottom of the ribcage, and the wrists with the bottom of the groin.
On that same note, I take it you've used Ork arms on some of these models - which does give them a bit of the same problem.
It's not a massive issue - most people wouldn't be able to tell you that (although they might notice it looked a bit odd*) - but it's worth bearing in mind for future.
*Okay, I'm not exactly an expert on anatomy, but I have still developed something of an eye for it.
Also, there seems to be confusion between the terms scatter laser (Eldar) and multi-laser (Imperial). That said, I do like the Valhallan model.
Valhallan - "So we'll just be 10 minutes, in and out, no problems?"
Inquisitor - "Yup"
Valhallan - "And there's no massive monster's inside which can tear open a rip in the fabric of reality?"
Inquisitor - "Nope"
Valhallan - "So then, why have i been given a scatter laser?"
Inquisitor - "...you know that-
Valhallan - "If you give me that "everything you have been told is a lie" spiel, i swear to all that is Holy that i will turn it on you"
Inqusitor - "In that case, you've been given the scatter laser for pissing me off!"
Valhallan - "DAMMIT!"
Sorry, i read Myriad's worried comment and that entire conversation jumped into my head. I'm liking these models, i also like the Crusader's colour scheme, there's something which is just...bold about it, like he's just been suited up for the first time. It's pretty cool, sort of like the costume reveal in a Superhero film.
I also like the look on the Servants face, it's like "i've gotta carry this up there?!"
Thanks everyone. I'm glad that you like them.
I agree with pretty much all of the comments here.
Dave - I tried, I really did, but I just couldn't seem to find anything (scrolls, purity seals) that fit the crusader. In the end I just went for the 'fresh out of the box' look. Thanks for the (very) nice comments.
Robey - did you see my post the other day in which I asked if anyone could recommend a good file? I needed a new file because I wore my old one out getting rid of all the chaos crap on Mynarc's legs (and it took ages to do.) Oh, and thanks for the inspiration.
Myriad - It is just luck that I managed to give him a worried look (I'm not good enough to paint expressions on faces.)
Marco - I just use the bits that I have. Blame the guy who sculpted them!
Joel - ;D The servant's head is from a multi pack, and I picked the one with the most worried, down-trodden, tired looking expression on his face for exactly that reason. It's a huge sword, and you would get sick of carrying it around (hell, even the empty scabbard is big enough!)
Brilliant models, oozing personality. The crusader has an Iron Man feel to him (both the look and paint scheme are very reminiscent). The Valhallen is wonderfully done and the look on his face is fantastic. Also love the depressed servant carrying the scabbard. I've been wanting to create a servant who does nothing but carry an overly ornate weapon of some sort for a while and he just looks fantastic.
Some really great stuff there Nick :), nice additions to the genestealer cult. Must have taken forever to clean up Mynarc though.
Great work, both painting and conversion work. Like most people here, I really like that Valhallan - goes to show that an almost monochromatic colour scheme can look good if done right.
I pity that poor squire dude. That is one excessively large sword. But at least the scabbard would make for decent cover to hide behind... when I saw the first photo that's what I thought the guy was doing. The second pic really captures the suffering servant look.
Like the gun conversions with the ork bits too. They make guns so ludicrously large they even look oversized and 40k-ish when used in 54mm!
lots of shiny jollity going on here! particularly like the sword bearer and crusader.
lovely painting as ever, very crisp.
All brilliant models; I don't really have much to add that hasbn't already been said - I especially love the Valhallan!
Anyway, I hope this comment isn't seen as being a bit like speaking for the sake of speaking, but it's brilliant painting, and i didn't want to let is slip by without saying so!
