I was just rummaging through the remnants of my models from a while ago and found the beelphegor model from andrea-miniatures which I had started painting. I've given him a gun i pieced together from the few bits I still have and arrived at this:

Can't do much more to him now since I have no tools etc.
So when I get them I'm going to touch up the gun so there aren't holes in it and stuff as well as give it a handle, then give the sword a handle aswell.
Any tips, advice or suggestions on what to do with him?
And how can I get rid of all the paint on him? I plan on repainting him once I get some paints.
James
I covered him in guitar wire (http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=667.msg8814#msg8814). General opinion seems to be that the armour needs to be made a bit more 40k, so it may be an idea to add a few more 40k details to the armour. If painted right the sword could make a great daemon sword.
Nice work, really like the custom gun! However, if you're planning on stripping the paint off the model, I'd remove the gun and any other plastic parts you'd like to stay NOT in an amorphous blob :P Any strippers I've used are not very kind to plastic parts, and you usually have to have quite a tough solvent to remove stubborn paint from those little nooks and crannies.
Though I see what Brother_Brimstone means about it needing a tad extra 40King, at the same time it reminds me a lot of the ornamental Sisters of Battle armour, so I think just a few grenades and other webbing additions here and there would suit :) (though also Brother_Brimstones does look sweet!)
Look forward to seeing it progress.
Rob
I put it in paint stripper minus the gun, so now it is all nice and metally again. Probems I encountered along the way were it dissolving all the glue and the head, sword, arm and loin cloth going in the bin by accident. Also burning myself when I didn't realise I had paint stripper on my hand. The sword hand elbow was also made of green stuff I think and so dissolved.
I'm struggling to think of how to 40k ify the armour without using guitar wire. GSing some pouches/ammo belt onto him good enough you think?
James
Grenades are always a good one as they are very distinctly modern whereas pouches are always pouches :P strings of ammo don't go amiss and if you can knock up some =][= icons on bits of armour like the skulls forehead then you'll be rocking!
Rob
EDIT: This article has loads of good ideas and specific sources for 40Kying a character

Got to agree with Shannow on the insignia suggestion, you'd be surprised of the good a bit of imperial insignia can do! I think a big =][= on the sholder skull would be great. The grenades and ammo bands are a good suggestion too and i might add pistol holsters to that. Another idea to consider may be bionics; you could try giving him a bionic eye, or if you have necron parts handy you could give him a bionic arm. Bionics always bring things nicely into the 41st millenium! Although that isn't strictly speaking the armour, it gives the model, as a whole, more of a 40k feel.
Mechadendrites are easy to make as well and add a whole layer of awesome to a character - any small gubbinz on the end of a pipe, be it guitar wire, florists wire, paperclips or any plastic/metal tubey bits you've got lying around in your bits box does wonders to the 40k aspect of a model. If you have any servo skulls lying around as well, they often look really cool when coiled round an arm or a shoulderplate, go crazy!
It's been a while and I havn't made much progress with my previous model, but I do now have this model (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320139747018&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_928) and I want him to be having wards carved into his skin. But with my lack of modelling experience, I'm not sure what to do to make it look like he has carved into his skin, and have it small enough to be more than a couple of individual wards, anyone have some advice for me? Then once I've done it how would you recomend I paint it?
Also working on Maggit, my slightly stunted gas mask wearing bloke in quite a bright colour scheme as well as trying to make his quad barrelled gun.
And I just noticed that the set of citadel washes I just bought has 9 paint pots but only 8 different colours having a second gryphonne sepia instead of devlan mud.
James
I have been trying to make my character Maggit's quad barrelled gun and failed miserably several times, so now it looks like he will be wielding a rather blob like double barrelled pistol. Hurray for my modelling skills.
I've also decided to start painting him sans right hand and will post pics when he is done and when i find a picture, so round about friday.
Still no luck thinking how to carve wards into my other character's skin, think I might start just hacking with a knife n see what happens.

Just paint them on - a black line surrounded by a bit of red to represent inflamed flesh should be perfect.
A nice way I've found to make gun barrels is from the inner tubing from wiring. Simply remove the copper wire from inside and cut to the length you want :)
A quick example (http://i899.photobucket.com/albums/ac196/VincZid/Img_015.jpg)
If it's a longer barreled gun or rifle, you may what to leave the copper wire part way in the tubing, so that you get a hollow looking barrel without the tubing being too bendy.
Well here is what I have done so far, a step back with the first model I showed in the form of taking it apart and stripping it of paint. Then I've got pretty close t finishing a model and advice on it would be nice.

That is how the LOTR model came, I've done absolutely nothing to it.
Going to have to change up the stats (mainly equipment) for Maggit, my modelling wasn't up to making a quad barrelled gun.
I also found I forgot to buy a brown paint and so am painting without that colour, also didn't get a devlan mud wash, but it should arrive soon thanks to GW customer services.

Is the top hat wielding chap maggit? If so, then your backstory of his feeble nature makes the model choice excellent, especially compared to your other two models. Is that s smartmax mini btw?
Looking very good so far IMHO both modelling wise and paint job wise, a great first model! What do you have left to do to it?
Do you have any idea what you might do to lurtz's face as it looks a bit too....orc like....to be a holy avenger :P perhaps a face mask or something such? His face horribly scarred by his time in the pits?
Look forward to progress :)
Rob
I'm not overly happy with his apron or backpack thing or base, so will have to touch those up a bit.
Yeah it's Maggit and a smartmax mini, its called Jeremiah Crowe, and I've done little in the way of conversion, basically put the hat in his left hand rather than right, and gun in his hand rather than on his apron.
Also his only weapon is a 2 shot pistol, so he isn't the most effective character, will have to think of rules for it aswell. And I might say his backpack is a demo charge.
I like the idea of lurtz having a face mask, might try sculpting it aswell, though that'll probably end up badly.
James
I like his apron, it has the look of a man who fears being shot and is also simplisitic, so has just attached a sheet of metal to the front of him, fits Maggit anyway I think.
I wouldn't worry too much about the 2 shot pistol, my bounty hunter leader Bar has a double barrelled shotgun and in the game I played on saturday with brimstone (first ever wooo) he fired one barrel at one character and one at another and didn't have to reload at all, so just give him a few reloads and he should be ok.
Demo charge is a good idea though! What close combat weapon does he have btw? Maybe just give him a knife or something?
Even if the mask sculpt goes wrong from what you planned it might look better, as it might work well as sort of a mask that covers his scars but at the same time parodies them...
Have a go anyway, sculpting is very fun and enjoyable :)
Rob
Well there is no close combat on the model itself right now, but it came with a sword, so I may attach that to him.
Then I'll just see how the mask goes
