My attention and modelling time have all been devoted to this project for the past couple of weeks. It isn't finished by any means (it still needs a final clean up of all green stuff, and the adding of details like a chapter badge, purity seals, and a chest eagle) but it is close enough so that you get the general idea.
If anyone has any criticism or suggestions for alterations, now would be a good time. (I'm waiting for the aquila and a couple of other bits to arrive.)
Anyway, here are pictures. I hope that you like it.

That is shaping up very nicely, in particular I think the feet (a hateful part of the body to sculpt) are done extremely well.
Two questions, 1) Where are the legs taken from? 2) What is his approximate height?
Also as I have been typing this I have just noticed his FANTASTIC knee pads! Serious kudos there.
Look forward to seeing more of him.
Rob
very cool!!!
but the bodyarmour seems a little bit too bulky.
but your sculpting skills are way better than mine, so don`t bother...
bye, phil
Very good - perhaps the best 54mm scout I've come across. :) His chestplate does look a little blocky, but that may just be because it's so plain and it'll look fine once you add the eagle. I'd maybe be tempted to add a few more little details to the torso though - maybe drill some ports or add some panel lines or something...
Excellent work as always. I started a Scout last year, but he kind of got waylaid by other things. This may be the inspiration I need to actually get him finished off! Love the visor on your guy, and the pose reeks of awesome.
Ruaridh
Thanks guys, I'm glad that you like it.
Shannow - The whole model is made out of this (http://www.knightmodels.com/castigador_ing.html) kit from Knight Models. The knee pads are just these shoulder pads (http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk/baneblade-tank-commander-shoulder-pads-x4-p-1324.html) from the Baneblade kit.
Dave - I will definitely add a port (after I attach the aquila, so I know where I can safely put it.) Good idea, thanks. I've never seen a 54mm scout. Do you have any pictures of others?
Ruaridh - I would like to see your scout. The visor was very easy to do. I just wrapped a thin strip of plastic card around the head above the ears, then glued a shorter, thicker strip to the underside in the gap between the ears (I had to cut a bit out of the bridge of the nose.) Using the lower ridge as a guide, I made a saw cut into the front of the upper strip, and filed the lower ridge so that it was even with the upper strip. (I hope that that made sense!)
I'm really very impressed by this - it's a really very cool model. Based on the 28mm models, I'd say the shoulderpads are a little small, but it's really not a major issue at all.
What Chapter are you considering for him?
Thanks Molotov. I agree about the shoulder pads. I wish that I had made them longer as well as bigger around. Oh well...
I am thinking Angels of Vengeance for the chapter. I ordered a couple of Dark Angel bits which I hope will be suitable for the chapter badge (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/File:AngelsOfVengeanceSymbol.png), and I plan to paint him in this (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1400009&prodId=prod1140166) colour scheme, but with black armour instead of green.
Do you want me mailing address so you can send him to me? ;D
Absolute fab work! Two thumbs up! Now grab a 28mm scout and stand him beside the I scale scout!
the site says the mini is 72mm
thats big
though I don't know how high the marine clocks in for inquisitor
Fantastic! A promising start. Can we have a scale comparison with an SM and a regular ]I[nquisitor model?
Cheers for the link mate, that is a very cool starting model on its own, but I do love the fact its unrecognisable and yet when you see the original you go 'ohhhh yeeaaah' :P
I got the bits that I was expecting in the post today, and unfortunately the aquila is way too small. Does anyone have an aquila from the Rhino kit (this one (http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=21_27_51&products_id=1884)) that they would be willing to swap?
I will take some size comparison pictures (with standard Artemis and Guardsman models - sorry gwrulz, but I don't have a 28mm scout to compare it with) tomorrow.
Looks flipping fantastic. Will this make an appearance at a Warhammer World event?

Not unless I do (which is extremely unlikely.) Sorry.
As promised, here is a comparison photo with Artemis and a Guardsman.

The scout is almost exactly 70mm tall (from the soles of the feet to the top of the head.)
That scale looks perfect, and the model looks fantastic, can't wait to see it fully finished and painted!
Rob
Cool! I think he fits in well scale-wise.
Scouts in Inquisitor sound more likely. I remember one of the 40k novels of a Rogue trader captain having 5 space wolf scouts issued to him. They infiltrated a tyranid ship.
Plus scouts should be easier to kill than full battle brothers?
Can't wait to see him painted!
he looks the business, a really dangerous character but not so game breaking as a fully fledged marine. do you have a back story for him yet?
Excellent sculpting, the pose really works well and the scale works well compared to other 54mm models. Keep up the good work :)
Well, I'm never 100% satisfied with a model, but I have reached the point with this one where I have stopped trying. Here it is, (just about) completed. I hope you like it.

Very impressive and mean looking. Like the visor, and the shotgun slung casually over the shoulder (which displays his strength value)
WOW! ;D
Love the colour scheme, with the injection of red on the weapons. RED DEATH! Very authoritative look about him, interesting to see how he compares in game to full space marines. Have you thought of any fluff and stats for him yet?
Rob
Incredible work, he looks very intimidating! Not much more to say to be honest, great paint-job on a great model (i especially like the shading on his white clothes, but there's great shading to be found all around the model).
He's definitely up there with your best Nick, in terms of construction and painting.
What's next?
Ruaridh
Two thumbs!
Thanks guys, I am glad that you like it.
Shannow - no fluff yet, it was more a case of building a scout because I could (I had been looking for a suitable base model for ages before I found this one.)
Brimstone - the clothes are khaki, not white.
Ruaridh - Thanks. I guess I'll get to work on the Guard Sgt next, and the ruins of my bionic Ogryn model have been glaring at me recently, so who knows, I might just put him back on the To Do List. Have you made any progress on your scout yet?
Beautiful work. However, his visor seems wrong. :P It is not at eye level on the model. Unless he has a third eye in his forehead?
Awesometastic work! ;D
Looks like he's alive and breathing. In my opinion it looks better than some 'eavy metal models(if not most). And I don't think the visor is bad, I didn't really notice until I looked at it hard(my eyes were sore hehe) and even then it was so tiny, I wouldn't bother. Over all, I'd say he's the best done model I've seen in a long time. I'd suggest entering him in a contest or two.
love it!
Your painting's become markedly cleaner over the last couple of years. I'm not 100% certain that this is a good thing, but he's beautifully done nonetheless.
Also (I'll likely be repeating this for the next couple of days), I'm a returning prodigal. No big yellow welcome, please!

Damn, you are absolutely right. :( I wish that I had noticed that before I assembled and painted it, as it isn't going to get fixed now. (By the way, talking of mistakes, you seem to have included a 3 in the middle of the word Liverpool in your avatar text.)
Elva - you are far too kind (either that, or they are posting crap in 'eavy metal these days.)

Are you saying that you like my older (messy) models better?
You know, I honestly couldn't say. There was something... distinctive about the old style. But there's no denying that you've improved enormously, from a purely technical standpoint. Who am I to criticize that?
