Title: The Fall of Astraea
Post by: Hadriel Caine on November 28, 2012, 07:48:55 PM
How can we have overlooked them,
Creeping in the shadows of our glorious sector?
Viceroy Gronemeyer was only the beginning,
The progenitor of a corruption that sinks to the very depths
and across the breadth of our society.
I will not let this come to pass.
For too long we have allowed them to linger in the shadows,
This secret will not be allowed to be discovered.

Their stench must be purged;

Kill. Them. All.

Att. Inquisitor Joachim Ramus , transcr. Marlo Willison

++++++++ ENCRYPTING +++++++++++

Everything you have been told is a lie...

MW-Intelligence file loading to your data-slate now, sir;

‘ASTREA is an Imperial planet within the Trachian sector of Segmentum Tempestus. It is the sub sector capital and has an estimated population of 6.2 billion. Its main hive city, Hive Primus, is thought to have a population of 4 billion. Due to the mechanised nature of the forge cities on Astraea the majority of its populace are involved in PDF training or sector administrational work. An estimated 0.5billion work in argi-domes dotted around the equatorial regions of the planet and circling the major forge cities as well as the three main hive cities. The planetary governor, Olivus Colland, hails from Trachia V. He was appointed by Viceroy Grönemeyer four decades ago after the public assassination of Papius Aleyn by members of a solar cult.’

JR-Our records do not show the result of any specific investigation into Aleyn’s death. Although some three hundred ‘known cult sympathisers’ were executed for crimes against the Emperor by sector defence forces in the six months that followed Colland’s rise to power.

MW-The Ecclesiarchy reports Astraea to be devout. The Administratum receives higher tithes than mandated. The PDF and Arbites host outstanding training facilities; indeed, many of the lower ranking Inquisitorial agents in the Trachian sector hail from Astraea.’

Astraea would have gone unnoticed for many hundreds of years had the concluding mandate of the Vanaheim Enclave’s investigation into ++++++EXCOMMUNICATE+++++PESSIMUS+++ORDO++++TRAITORIS++++ lead to questions being asked of Grönemeyer’s ability to hold together this somewhat volatile sector. The threat is triplicate in Trachian space. Cults are emerging across neighbouring worlds and colonies; the orbital space ports of Trachia V are in open revolt. There is constant threat from a minor Ork Waaagh! and the very real danger of possession following the events of +++++ACCESS.GRANTED++++CENTRON+++TRACHIA>IV+++++++

JR-Our first objectives are to ascertain the ability of Colland. Establish a base within the upper spire of Hive Primus. Liaise with the Adeptus Mechanicus about corruption protocol. Infiltrate solar cult.

MW-A staff of ten should be more than sufficient for the first six months of the investigation. I should not think it necessary to remain on Astraea for any longer than one year…

JR-Agreed. One lander will suffice. I will requisition further transportation from our friends at the precinct upon planetfall.

@Dionzi & @ Trasher- thanks for the interest. I will be revealing more over the next few days. This is going to be an IC P&M thread. A new idea I have for working on my campaign without revealing all the secrets to the players.

Your honour, we have dispatched agents to subdue their leaders without causing a public outcry. It is paramount to our operation here that our asset is not hindered in his mission. He must be allowed access to the space port.

To clarify he's using the IC to show off modelling as well.

My Lord, It remains unclear as to the content of the missing files. I suspect, however, that the corruption and loss of the information within is coincidental. My dealings with planetary law enforcement of government officials have been primarily positive. I advice that we replace the cogitator unit within the next quarter moon.

I am concerned about the content of the attached image, however, it is all that I could retrive before the data slate was wiped completely. The image potentially displays a Xenos renegade of the Eldar species. I have not come across their breed individually but am lead to believe that we ought proceed warily. Eldar sightings have been rare in the sector for a millenium. Unfortunately piratical raids have increased in the orbital ports and supply worlds. It seems inconceivable that the Eldar should be aiding the Ork threat. Sadly at this time I cannot provide more information.

It strikes me that the pictured specimen could pass for an adult human male. His equipment is xenos manufactured but not beyond the terms of local trade laws, which I consider heretically lapse. A discussion for the future perhaps as we have more pressing matters in the Trachian sector at this time. My acolyte has been committed to penance for failure to maintain the inventory.

My Lord,
I have made planetfall and have offered my services to a private security group. They specialise in the guarding of interplanetary dignitaries. I am angling to be assigned to the house of Colland for a brief period. I should be able to secure the data we require.

The Emperor sees all

The die is cast. Our brothers hear the call. Colland will not resist us. It is almost time to reveal yourself father.

My Lord, the off-worlders are a bad omen.
They have come to undo all of your good work.
You must allow me to monitor their activities;
I shall appoint a liaison from the Arbitrators to...
collect data... on their work on your planet.

If they are truly men of the Emperor we shall know it.
and if not...You are the governor, My Lord. What right have they to intefere in the complexities of the running of your planet?

I will see to it that they act within your prescribed parameters... If they should fail in that then they have only the Throne to answer to- and we should hasten their judgement...

See that it is done as you suggest my loyal friend. We must be careful around these off-worlders. They must see sense. Our work must not be interrupted.

As you wish... my Lord.

My Lord...
We have requisitioned the help of a local bounty hunter. We are paying him double the going rate of a kill per usable photograph of the ring leaders of this seditious cult...

Today he sent us this pict capture via secure link:
( (

It is clear that the small framed man to the rear of the shot has been fraternising with local desreputes.

If My Lord could take a look at the following:

( (

The above image clearly shows a similar man speaking in hushed tones with the governor within the very inner sanctum of the command palace on Astraea. To the rear of the image you can also make out an officer of the fleet. Previously convicted of smuggling arms to fund gang warfare offworld. It is unclear how he escaped sanction but I shall investigate.

Serpent.theta pattern las rifles were seized at the time, should these show up on Astraea we may have a link. I pray to the Emperor the missing arms tithe has not been repurposed for sedition.

I shall contact you again, My Lord, before the next solar passage.

I fear direct action may soon be upon us. I hope the summons reaches our allies in time. I trust in the Emperor's plan, but would not wish to be alone here with these heretics longer than is deemed necessary.

Thought for the Day; suffer not the alien to live. Heresy lives within.

I seem to have that problem across several boards... I'm sure I used to have multiple photo bucket accounts. The bandwidth problem says it will be resolved at the beginning of my next cycle. In about two weeks. Whoops!

Glad you like the text Easy E :)

Now it all hangs together, such a tease just having text. Very thematic, great use of the 28mm range, especially some proper classics.
