Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum but most definately not the world of warhammer. I picked up my first Citadel miniture at the age of 13, and as I'm now 2 years into my 40s I'll think you'll agree thats a fair amount of time for a grown man to of been playing with toy soldiers  :-\

I've mostly been playing Warhammer, skirmmish, and due to the glories of being old, Rogue Trader. I've never realy 'got' modern 40K, as standing 2 armies either side of a table to see who can out shoot who first just leaves me a little flat  :-\

I got back into the idea of playing INQ when I found my old rule book in a recient house move, I havn't played for an absalute age.... atleast since a couple of years after its original launch  ::)

I've only just got back into gaming, as my new wife came with a 10 year old boy attached, who happily was just starting his wargaming carrier, and is currently my only opponent  :-[

I'm currently trying to persuade him to try the INQ format, all be it in 28mm at the moment, as between us we have a fair few models at that scale but none at 54mm, (sold all my original models and regreting it now  ::) ) but fear it might be a tad on the 'extreme' side for someone who just wants to roll loads of dice  :-\

I live on the welsh side of the Old Severn Bridge, but work in and around Bristol, so if any of you live around these areas and fancy a game just send me a pm and we can arrange something  :)

Well,

Welcome to the Conclave!

It's great to have you here. I used to live on the Welsh side of the Severn, Cardiff to be exact, but now I live in France. Dammit!

Well, I hope you find some gamers, and we've got loads of advice on what models and where to get them.

If you're looking for a club for more opponents or to expand your step-son's gaming horizons, then I believe there's a good club in Cwmbran.  I can also recommend the Lincombe Barn Wargaming Club in Bristol, which I visited a couple of weeks ago.

Cheers for the heads up mate, any contact details for either and/or addresses??

EDIT: Ahhh, google is your friend, found the Bristol clubs site, sadly they only let 13s and over in  :( which is understandable as I used to run the saturday club in Chepstow, and under that age they just haven't got the attention span required for an entire evenings gaming and in a fair few cases they haven't had the fluf/back ground experience to make for a good game  :-\ Maybe I'm being old and cynical but I blame computer games and a lack of reading the black and white bits inbetween the pretty pictures  ::) .... just read that back and yes I am being old and cynical as I expect I was just the same at that age, the only difference being I couldn't blame computer games as that kind of thing hadn't been invented when I was 9/10  :'(

EDIT 2: Found a club called 'Big'uns' that is in Bristol and they allow under 13s if they escorted by an adult  8)

The Big 'Uns are a very good, well-established club.

I don't have contact details for the Cwmbran club, yet (despite my best efforts to get them).  I'm sure I'll get there eventually.  As for Lincombe Barn, I hope to encourage them to open their doors to younger players in the future.  They had loads of youngsters kicking around at their recent Tabletop Sale Day who were all very enthusiastic and well behaved.
