Well it does seem that Zophar in some ways simply had a bad run - my own toughness 40 no armour character lurked in the shadows coming to little harm.  Some days even power armoured characters can simply get taken out by a bolt round.

An energy field is a good way to make a character more resilient without having to remodel, or have armour that isn't there.  It does also seem that being the demon's host merits either a slightly higher toughness or some abilities - the one sighted seeming quite good.
