Hi

Not sure whether this is the best place to ask question but it cuts across both Rules Questions and Painting & Modelling. I need help in deciding what I can do for 4th member of my warband. So far I have the models and first draft back story for 3 characters:

1) Inquisitor Thorvald Hesjedal, Ordo Malleus, psyker, Xanthite bearing daemon sword and stubber,
skills: Leader, Enforce Will, Telepathy, Sanctuary,
(figure is conversion of Eisenhorn)

2) Damiano Barredo, veteran gunfighter, bearing Battle Rifle and Revolver,
skills: True Grit, Rock Steady Aim and Quickload
(figure  is slight conversion of Slick Devlan)

3) Inia Kalinic, young scout, psychic null, beraing stubber and shockstick
skills: Hipshooting, Pariah, Subdue
(figure  is slight conversion of Lucretia)

The problem is I am stumped for the 4th character. I had thought Arco Flagellant but i was told that did nt fit well with my being a Radical. I like the idea of a Techpriest, but i was'nt sure if that was stretching things. I already have a daemon sword wielding psyker and a Pariah, I thought the Techpriest would be incongruous.

I am limited by my existing model collection. I am not in position to by new figures. I have the following:

a) Converted part painted preacher (Josef model with Eisenhorn's head and an electro-flail)
b) unassembled Covenant
c) unassembled Techpriest (Delphan Gruss)
d) unassembled Arco Flagellant
e) unassembled Imperial Guardsman

(If need be I can use stock figures (Death Cultist, Desperado, Mutant) but I would prefer to stay clear of stock figures for my first Inquisitor Warband).

So I am in need of some inspiration, some helpful advice. From the minatures I have, which would be the best fit with my 3 existing characters? Normally would be tempted by Imperial Guardsman but I already have one rifle bearing gunslinger.

Thanks

James

The Preacher could be a cleric or priest, from a corrupt order, turned to a radical interpretation of the Imperial Creed that fits with the Inquisitor's own views.

Covenant could be an Interrogator, the loyal servant... or perhaps not so loyal.

The Arco-flagellant could be another form of Combat Servitor, twisted with maletek and fueled by hatred.

The Imperial Guardsman could be his personal enforcer, employed to clean up loose ends, remove witnesses, etc. Less a gunslinger, more a controlled thug.
Questions are a burden to others, answers a burden to oneself.

A nice counterpoint to the rest of the warband would be an extremely non-combat orientated character, some sort of savant or archivist would suit. Taking the models you have parts from into account, I would suggest using Gruss' body + legs as the basis, perhaps with Covenants head. As for arms, that's slightly trickier. When you say Guardsman, is it Dorian Black or Major Jackson? because Jacksons arms would be a suitable choice - creating the image of a non-combat character given a simple sidearm in case he needs it.

If you can/are willing to take the Eisen horn head off the preacher then that'd be a more wizened look.
It's all fun and games until someone shoots their own guy with a Graviton gun instead of the MASSIVE SPIDER.

I could play around with Techpriest body to do a savant. I was a bit woried that having a techpriest character would be stretching probability on top of a psyker and a pariah. If I can think of background for a techie person that is not a techpriest then that might work- any suggestions?

Model wise I have already used Covenant's head (on my Inquisitor) and Eisenhorn's head (on my preacher) and have started painting both minatures, so I don't really want to do that. I do have Josef's head available, but I am not sure how well that would fit with the Techpriest body. I guess Josef is fairly old  I'll have a play tomorrow and see how well that fits on body.

No- the Guardman is more toothpick than Jackson. I don't yet have a jackson or any of his parts.

Thanks

I had a play around with my unbuilt models last night. I found that Josef head would fit on either Techpriest or Covenant torso, but the Techpriest head would only fit on the Techpriest body.

However I noticed that the Techpriest torso was a similar size to Covenant torso. With similar legs I realised I could switch torsos around. So I could put Josef head on Covenant torso with Techpriest legs. Probably with Techpriest right arm (unsure what to do with left arm).

I quite like that- the =I= insignia on Covenant torso would tie the character much more to the Inquistion and make him look less like a Techpriest.Would tie in nicely with Ordo Malleus warband. I might even see how easy it would be to break off Slick Devlan head from gunslinger- if I can swp with the Josef head it will add still more variety to my warband. The Slick Devlan head won't be quite as good as the Eisenhorn head as previously suggested but still looks quite aged.

If this character is not a Techpriest I will need to think how else I can integrate a similar character.  Not sure about savant. Maybe an archivist?

Hi

I wrenched off Slick Devlan head from my gunslinger and gave him Josef's head, which will help differntiate him from my stock Slick Devlan.

So my model so far has Techpriest legs and arms, Covenant torso and Slick Devlan head. I was nt happy with the breacher so I cut it down, keeping the upper section of arm. I then raided my Epic bits box for a beatleback titan powerfist, which I chopped off the top to shortern it, and glue to the cut down techpriest arm.

I am planning on simply using the arm as a bionic arm, nothing fancy, although as an artificial fist I can still pick things up.

I am not totally sold on the techpriest's stubber, nice weapon though it is, so I may still take it off and swap for another weapon.

Cheers

James
