Cassian's warband

Hello chaps just thought I would show off some wip shots of my new warband (also my first!). The VERY rough background is here: http://www.the-conclave.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1972.0

I still need to update it I have a lot more written up.

First up is Cassian:





I am proably going to change the box he is standing on as everyone has it and its a bit boring. Im struggling to find a head I like. Im looking for that upperhive, foppish kind of look but I find the GW faces are too hard looking. The one pictured is a bit of an experiment with the kind of thing Im after.

Next up is the as yet unamed body guard. He is made from andrea's Gabriel Blackburn character. Something to note is that out the box he is too big to be a normal human. He would be reasonable for a space marine scout but that is about it. Therefore I have done quite a bit of chopping around the waist and shins. Unfortunately I lost quite a lot of awesome belt kit detail but needs must. I also squared off the armour on his back as the curves wernt really imperial enough.

Im still unsure about his arms and head. His bare arms are far too long and require quite a bit of work (left is cut down wip at the moment. Im not sure if I should do sleeves (im not sure if I can!) or try and blend in the hand to wrist and keep them bare.) Also my stats currently have him in full helmet and gas mask. However his head is so awesome I may keep it as is. Overall the sculpting is awesome and far better than GW models IMO.

Very interesting to see the Gabriel conversion.

It is a cool model. However I will say again that out the box it can only be used realistically as a SM scout. It took quite a bit of work to get it to a useable height, cutting and pinning shins plus waist etc... Luckily the metal is slightly softer than GW so slightly easier to hack through

His minigun is also sitting here screaming assault cannon gun servitor at me... hard to resist!

Maybe have his helmet & gasmask hanging from his belt?

If you want a head that's foppish and Aristocratic you could try one of the Victrix Napoleonic Officers.

It would cost a bit, but you get a heck of a lot of spare parts.

The bodyguard is looking very nice, a touch Bruce Willis in that first picture from above. The cutting and pruning is not obvious at all.

The bodyguard is very bif and imposing, a perfect look I think.

The victrix heads could look good, I don't know how big or small they are but they have an aristocratic look about them.
